I originally left a negative review after having front lower control arms installed on my 2022 GMC Sierra. Shortly after the repair, the truck developed a clunk that wasn't present before. The dealership later found a disconnected sway bar link and a backwards-installed camber bolt that required correction. After discussing the situation with the owner, he reviewed the concerns and refunded the full labor charge. While I'm disappointed the installation issues occurred, I appreciate that the owner contacted me directly and worked with me to reach a fair resolution. This place should be shut down for it's shoddy practices. I had my car towed twice and was charged almost $1000 for an alternator. The second time it was towed in the front guy "old" Mike said I must have Gremlins in my car. The worse part is that he said it with a straight face. The third time my car didn't start I took it to a different place. They confirmed I didn't need an alternator but a new battery that is in the trunk. This was a terrible, horrible experience. I am extremely disgusted by the complete lack of customer service and blatant disrespect that I experienced at this place of business. Earlier this week, on April 19th, my caregiver took my car into La Car Porte for a routine oil change. Outside of their shop, they advertised a special of $21.95 for an oil and filter change, so I expected her to come back with a total bill around $24, including tax. When she came back with only a credit card receipt that did not reflect what the balance should have been, I decided to go up to the shop with my caregiver to get to the bottom of it. When I arrived at the shop, I was met by Michael (the owner). I explained that there was a discrepancy between the credit card receipt and the advertised special amount. Since the credit card receipt was the only thing that I had to go off of, I asked for an itemized invoice to see why the cost was off. Michael preceded to become irate and spout off that, "most people don't want an itemized invoice." When I asked again for the itemized receipt, his belligerence escalated and he then accused me of "killing trees because I wanted a paper receipt." Throughout the entire transaction between the two of us, he was extremely rude and argumentative. His voice and tone were elevated throughout the whole conversation, and his body language was very combative. He would interrupt my talking with rude phrases such as, "just let me finish." I have never been treated so horribly in a place of business. The craziest thing is that all of this occurred because I simply asked for an itemized invoice. Makes me wonder why he was so reluctant to give it to me. I will definitely never go back to this place. read more

Love this place! Came in needing an oil change and alignment on my 08 Audi Q7. They took it back straight away even though they were really busy. They explained everything well, gave me advice on tires and preventative maintenance. Fixed her right up and did a great job. Very affordable and even less than I anticipated! They even checked my brakes and gave me a price good for 90 days. The gentleman (Mike?) working the computer was super helpful and super nice to everyone that came in and the technician was knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. Used them previously for brake replacement with good prices. Sent my daughter over to use after Volkswagen was charging $2100 for brakes. Dealership (Volkswagen in Clear Lake)originally said her sensors were out and repaired for $450 .. then she leaves dealership and car shakes and locks up . That's when told brakes out .. we decided to surprise pick up and take to la car Porte .. Turns out .... lacarporte found Teflon in breaks and cleaned up for $60!!!! Worst experience at an automobile shop ever. Went in for a standard oil change. A week later my car was leaking oil. Took it to a different place and they found that the screws on my oil pan had been stripped and it had been GLUED back on. When I took the car back to them to hear what they had to say owner Michael was rude, combative, and accepted no responsibility. They implied that I had done something to sabotage my own car. Integrity and Honesty I found went to La CarPorte almost on accident. My dads truck needed an inspection... so as I was driving down Fairmont, I passed up the place I was gonna go to and next place was La CarPorte, i pulled in to ask about pricing, turns out they do Free Inspections!!.. i was like Cool! But what really got me, was the service ... even though they were about to do something for free... they treated me as if I was about to pay $2000 on something. So I decided to bring my dads other truck in that has been sitting parked for about 4 years in to be diagnosed. They diagnosed it, fixed it, and now it's running so good! We brought the truck back to life lol... now I recommend La CarPorte to everyone and anyone... Micheal and his wife are great people and the staff there follow the boss man it seems like!! read more

Their service was excellent and i was impressed at the fact that they treated me well and were not annoyed at all at the fact that I was going to use the coupon. Wanted to get four things done: Oil change, air filter replacement, brake pads changed out, and new tires put on the rims. Well they don't put tires on rims here, so OK. Those remaining three tasks should be cheap enough. It should be a ~$250 job I think. Well, their inspection noticed that the rotors are worn out and too thin for new brake pads, so they'll need new rotors. Well, OK. That's more than I expected, but rotors do wear out every 50k - 70k miles on a car, and my car was close to 50k. Sure, whatever. They quoted me $400 in parts and $330 labor for the oil change, air filter replacement, full 4 wheel brake pad set, full 4 wheel rotor set. They charged me $1123 after I was notified that my vehicle was ready to pick up. So, logically, you might feel like you're getting robbed when you go in thinking this should just be a $250, and then that escalates to ~$730, and then ultimately escalates to $1123. The final price was literally off by +50% of the quoted price over the phone that I agreed to; I would NOT have agreed to a $1123 price if that was the price estimate over the phone. And there's no real room to contest that after the bill comes back; the work was already done. You begrudgingly pay and leave never to return. Needed to make a yelp account just to post this so other concerned La Porte citizens are aware that they aren't honoring their estimates, and the final price may be _much_ higher than what your estimate should be. Don't be a fool like myself to trust a local repair shop with your vehicle on routine maintenance tasks; the oil change air filter replacement and brake pad replacement shouldn't have escalated to an $1123 fix. Never again, and I do hope you, the reader, thinks ahead and shops around to get lower estimates and quotes before agreeing to any repair work. Learn from my mistakes from this awful experience. Additionally, get your quotes written on paper, as this is contractual evidence should the repair shop attempt to bleed you out for a much higher cost than you should be paying for. If they're not willing to get you an estimate in paper or by e-mail, then don't trust anyone's word over the phone. read more

I just took my car in 2 days ago because it had been overheating. They were extremely friendly when I walked in! I told them what was going on with the car and they told me the tests they would run on it & after that was finished they'd call me and tell me what was wrong & if my warranty would cover it. However.. They didn't call me to tell me what was going on. I had to call 2-3 times. The first time I called I asked what was wrong they told me, said they were trying to get a hold of my warranty company... Next day I call again because they still haven't called back confirming if they were going to work on it or not. Called and he told me my warranty wouldn't cover it and went on to tell me it was The Serpentine Belt & Idler Pull that was broken . So I asked him how much he said about $600. I was freaking out! I then called my warranty company just to see if they was blowing smoke up my ass and sure enough the company didn't cover it, HOWEVER they did tell me that they had a denied claim for an amount of only $340! I was pissed that he had tried to charge me $600 for something he claimed for only $340. At this point I was very angry. I then went to pick up my car and they showed me & my boyfriend a diagram of what was broke and where it was. I didn't feel like he was being extremely rude but compared to the first visit you could tell an attitude. We then took the car and had it looked at by another mechanic. The Idler pull & Serpentine belt was NOT broken. All it was was 2 little elbows underneath the Idler pull that was leaking coolant. The elbows at O'reilly's are 3.99 each. I will NEVER go back to La Car Porte. I saved about $590 by having a second opinion. read more
