This is real Mexican food, their potions are large and well prepared. I found this place during the (shelter in place) pandemic. Before you ask "Hell yeah I left my house to get takeout at a restaurant I would not have tried. My family and I have traveled quite a bit. That being said this is one of three(3) Mexican Resturant's I consider truly authentic with a wide variety of dishes. Their menu goes from the Gulf Coast, where the seafood is locally found at every restaurant. The northern section and the southern areas where one can see the influence of the Caribbean foods. This little piece of Mexico is located in Jackson's Romeo's plaza, where you also have an Italian grocery store comparable to any found in little Italy in New York. This plaza has it all including a great dry cleaner and even a full service cigar shop/lounge. While this Mexican Restaurant is very good as a hidden gem, it is the combination found at Romeo's Plaza that brings it all to life. read more

None of the waiters speak English! We had one waiter who could not answer questions about food allergies so they brought out another waiter that could. However this waiter comes over and immediately starts giving attitude. She brought us Coke Zero instead of Diet Coke and when we explain we order Diet Coke she was rude and said theyre the same thing and rolled her eyes at us. We also asked her the same allergy question and she gave us a snippy answer and rolled her eyes. Then we asked a question about the menu. She took the menu from our table and brought it to the other workers. They all started looking at our table and being rude. Then the waitress comes back with another waitress rolls her eyes and says this will be our waiter now. We ask her about the question we asked and she acts like we never asked that and tells the waitress that's what we were ordering. We ask if the new waitress speaks English and this one didn't and the other one rolls her eyes at us and goes I SPEAK ENGLISH. after this we left. everyone was super rude and they were talking about us in Spanish. My wife and I had dinner here last night. I was very impressed. To start, the restaurant is very clean and attractive. It is relatively new. Jackson has plenty of pizza parlors and a fancy restaurant but needed some new places. As I mentioned, the place was attractive, but the food is what we went for. I questioned the waiter about the chicken mole regarding on or off the bone. I am not a fan of bones. I asked if I could have the dish made with chicken off the bone. He told me that was not a problem. He then asked if I wanted the chicken shredded. He made my day. It was delicious! And I had enough for dinner the next day. The dish came with beans and rice. My wife had the chicken fahitas. The portion was also huge. She is fairly fussy and said that the flavor could have been a little more flavorful. My comment to her was that she should have ordered something more ethnic. Overall, we were impressed. The restaurant is practically within walking. We will go back again. If I could give it less than one star, I would. My husband had eaten there several months ago and said that it was delicious. We were in the area and decided to eat there. First thing my husband noticed was that the interior seating had changed as originally it had booths now it's just tables. Evidently more than the decor had changed because it was one of the worst eating experiences ever. Went there for lunch, & ordered steak burritos and an enchiladas. The steak burritos came out looking like a wrap, with lettuce and tomato - the meat was not steak -it was unrecognizable - chopped like hamburger. There was some sort of crumbled white cheese on top unmelted. We questioned the waiter who said that everybody makes it differently!!! On to the enchilada!!! It had rolled tortillas with nothing in it just a lot of lettuce in a kind of clear soup broth. Some avacado, no chicken. When we showed that to the waiter that the tortillas were empty he actually said it takes too long to make it properly and that they had a lot of takeout orders! This was an unfortunate and unforgettable experience! We did not eat the food and we left. I give this place a minus 10 stars!!! read more

I've dined here 3 times so far. I've only ever gotten take out because they're dining room has never appeared to been open. I've had the chicken and the beef tacos and I've tried both types of the tamales, they were all good. The 3rd time I ordered $60+ in take-out for myself and 2 friends. It took about 40 minutes. The burrito was reportedly good. We also got guacamole and nopales. The guacamole was tasty but I did not like the nopales. They were luke warm, flaccid and slimey. We ordered a shrimp enchilada dish but we got the wrong one (they offer 2 different types). I finally got to try the carnitas tacos and 50% of the contents was large chunks of fat. I ended up picking it out and eating what I could because I had spent so much money on all of it and I was hungry but ultimately, I was pretty turned off. I haven't gone back since the last time but I may give it another shot as it's conveniently located and I like to support small business. read more

I had such high hopes for this place but was kind of disappointed. I know going to a Mexican restaurant on cinco de mayo will be busy but shouldn't they be prepared for that? So the sit down service was almost non existent but there was a line out the door for take out. It took 30 minutes to bring out the chips minus the guacamole and salsa that I ordered with it. The guacamole came out 1st and the portion was enormous and it was delicious. It could easily be shared with 4-6 people. We still didn't even have our sodas yet and had to remind the one server that we ordered the red and green salsa. She finally brought out the red but not the green. She then brought both salsa to the table next to us and told us they were out of green salsa. Next we had the steak and chorizo tacos which were tasty but the meat was a little dry. The chicken enchiladas with verde sauce were the weirdest enchiladas I ever had. They were very thin like crepes and stuffed with cheese, the chicken was crumbled on top then covered in the sauce then topped with largely chopped romaine lettuce, radishes and cojito cheese. We also never received the rice and beans we ordered. I don't know if the service is always this bad or just today. I'll give them another chance but only for tacos. Amazing portion size, ordered the Las Gringas and my best friend ordered the chorizo quesadillas. When you walk in it's such a homey feel and the decor is beautiful.
