La Casa De Pancho Refused service by wait staff after waiting more than 20 minutes for chips and salsa. Presented valid Iowa ID for purchase of alcohol and was told it was a fake ID. Staff is ignorant of ID security in the state of Iowa and what forms of ID are acceptable per the secretary of state. We've been a regular here for years, but are not going back after this bad experience of being slandered by staff. We also filed a compliance complaint with the Iowa Department of Revenue against their liquor license. Iowa Mobile ID is a valid ID issued by the Iowa Department of Transportation and is an acceptable form of age verification for the purchase of alcohol at businesses across the state. We spend approximately $100 at this business every month, and will no longer be doing so. read more

Stopped in here on my 2,200 mile motorcycle trip and let's say it was phenomenal!! Very friendly people and great food! Portions are very generous and the flavor was so good! The server was very attentive and kept our drinks full. Probably will never visit again but that's just because it's to far of a ride from my home. Lol. They have quite an extensive menu so it was difficult to choose. I therefore picked a combo with a shredded beef taco, a cheese enchilada, and the best pork tamale I've ever had. They didn't believe me even after I told them you can just smell them. My wife's dish had chicken and steak and both way over cooked and dry. Our party of 11 was seated immediately to begin the best feast of our trip to Iowa! La Casa De Pancho's menu had many offerings and boy did we indulge. A Texan gave us a heads up as we entered that it was some of the best Mexican food and Texans speak the truth. Unlimited chips and salsa were happily received. Drinks from the bar arrived quickly and the group was pleased that Modello was on tap. Some of the largest portions of food arrived in what seemed like only 10 minutes and the server got all 11 orders correct. I enjoyed the chicken chimichanga and my husband had enchiladas con queso. If we weren't having so much fun I would've remembered to take pics of the food. Absolutely delicious! We stumbled upon this restaurant while in Maquoketa for a gymnastics meet. The Asada Burrito is very large and absolutely amazing with the Skirt Steak!! I couldn't eat it all and had the remainder as my dinner the same night. I am down in Maquoketa once again, and I have to get another!!! Awesome!! This used to be one of my favorite restaurants in town. But recently it's gone downhill. A co-worker and I have been there 3 times recently where they forget about us and we have to hunt them down to get the check. I raved about this place to my daughter who I took here once for tacos, she loved them and wanted to go back. Wow...we were disappointed. One bite out of my chicken quesadilla and I felt like I was going to get food poisoning. (And I probably did). My stomach was upset for 2 days. Very disappointed with our first time eating here. We were staying in town for a softball tournament and chose to eat here after a game. Service was very slow and they weren't that busy. Took forever to place our drink order, another long wait to get them, and more waiting for our food. There were only four us, two adults and two kids so it's not like we had a large group. Originally from Maquoketa, I remember this place being pretty good when under a different name/management. Was back in town this past week with my fiance and stopped in during the afternoon, as it was one of the only places in Maquoketa open at that time. We were both impressed by the tastes. Everything we had tasted amazing. The fiance had pollo a la crema and he loved it. I had the fajita quesadilla with steak and I couldn't get enough of it! We have eaten at many Mexican restaurants throughout the state, and we enjoyed everything from the chips and salsa to the atmosphere. The place was a little busy when we arrived but by the time we left there were only two or three tables that still had people at them. I cannot imagine what could possibly have taken so long. I cannot rate the place on the quality of the food but extremely irritated that it took so long after they told us about a half an hour for dinner to be ready.
