Right across the street from UCLA Harbor Medical Center. First time eating there, staff is super friendly, prices are affordable. Ordered the desayunos (breakfast plates), they were super delicious! Tortillas are excellent! The horchata was okay, a little too sweet for my taste. I personally like the taste of all the spices in the Salvadorian Horchata, the sugar was over powering. We also ordered some pupusas revueltas to go. Those were okay, not bad, but not the best. The curtido was more like a coleslaw. It needed more time to pickle and much more spices. Came to had breakfast with my mom over the weekend. Had their Salvadoran breakfast and caldo de Pollo. The portions were very large and delicious. We decided to give this place a try and ordered some pupusas over the phone. Seems there was some misunderstanding between the lady who took our order and us. When we picked up our food we didn't really check the receipt, we just paid. Got home and noticed half our order was wrong. We called them back and told them about the issue. Same lady who took our order answered the phone, so we explained the problem. First thing she said was, so what you want then, do you want a refund? We told her we didn't want no refund, we just wanted our food. We went back to the restaurant and again explained the situation. She agreed to remake our order arfer arguing with us for so long as if we weren't guests/customers. Think she made a call to her boss or owner, saying some people had returned food and that in no way was she paying for the extra food. We felt bad after hearing her all anxious and angry and scared over the phone so we told her we'd pay for the extra food, she was still being all stubborn and angry and said no. Point is doesn't matter who's wrong or right. We knew what we ordered. This is the first time we've experienced something like this. She argued and fought with us as if we were begging for scraps. Horrible attitude. Never ever again ordering food here. Customer service ALWAYS comes first. Are your employees going to fight with customers every time there's an issue? Can't have that sorry. Luckily I speak a little Spanish so that I could order. On a good note, the staff is patient and will take the time to understand my Spanglish so that I could order. So far, this is the only place that I know that makes carne asada with cheese pupusas. Therefore, I will continue to come for those. The tortas are good. Really looked for a chili relleni. The dish was absolutely terrible! There was no cheese!!!!! The sauce did not have any Mexican or Spanish seasoning at all!!!!! It was like a jar of tomato sauce on top of ground beef and a chili. Wouldn't even be a decent spaghetti sauce. I added tons of spices that didn't help. I can't believe that they even serve this. Never eaten inside but it's a typical low level looking restaurant. The service is more like that they just come to work to be there and collect a paycheck. The tortas are okay though. My family and I have often order from here We have never had an issue with there food or how it's tasted. We normally always just order pupusa from them but the other night I felt to explore their menu and order a caldo de res. To say the least the soup was delicious and never expected to get sick from it but I ended up with food poisoning for the rest of the night and following day.
