Tacos (birria, labio, cachete)

Tacos De Birria La Chiva Loca is another worthy taco stand to add to your rotation. From 7:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. you'll find them Wednesday to Sunday in the same sandy lot next to the railroad tracks that many other taco stands call home on different days and hours. I got 3 tacos for $7.50 which was kind to my wallet and tasty for my belly. It may be my gringo palette but the sauces were spicy but a wonderful addition to the tacos.

Al pastor potato with everything. Asada tacos

My absolute go-to for taco cravings in the South Bay! Pastor, cabeza, asada with tacos and papas are all amazing. Everything, really.

When the craving hits, it's always tacos!…read more I stopped by Tacos El Goloso on PCH and ordered a mix of street tacos (carnitas and al pastor) along with the tacos dorados de birria. I've been here before, and the birria tacos were exactly what I needed for a late-night craving. Crispy on the outside with a good amount of filling and strong flavor - they really hit the spot. I ended up having four of them. The consomé on the side was really good too - rich and flavorful, almost something I could've just had on its own. The street tacos were solid. The carnitas had that tender, slightly crisp texture, and the al pastor added a bit more seasoning and contrast. Nothing overcomplicated, just straightforward and satisfying. Service was friendly, and the setup is quick and casual. In the South Bay where places tend to close early, it was nice that they were open until around 10pm. Overall, this is a no-frills taco spot where the focus is on the food. Easy choice when you're in the mood for tacos.

I got the birria plate (3 tacos with cheese, consomé, chips, salsas, etc.) and it was a full 10/10. Everything was balanced, flavorful, and authentic. Horchata was on point too. My girl got asada tacos -- super clean and really good. Only thing is there's no toppings bar, but they give you everything you need and the portions are dialed in. If I'm ever in the area craving Mexican food, I'm coming straight here -- no question. And they had the basketball game on, perfect. Super fast service by the way!

This review is about Tacos El Goloso, located at 1605 Pacific Coast Hwy, Harbor City, CA…read more My daughter is an EMT. While on duty, she stopped at this location and placed an order. Before her food was ready, she received an emergency call and had to leave immediately. That's the reality of being a first responder--when a call comes in, you leave immediately, no time to wait for your meal. Before leaving, she politely asked the cashier to cancel the order and refund her card. Instead of showing understanding or offering assistance, the cashier was dismissive and unhelpful. After completing the call, my daughter contacted the restaurant, apologized for the inconvenience, and again requested a refund. She was initially told that the receipt had been thrown away. Later, the receipt was apparently found, but she was then informed that if she wanted a refund--or even the food she had paid for--she would have to return to the location in person. The problem is that she lives more than an hour away and was only in the area because she was working. I called the following day in an attempt to resolve the issue. Unfortunately, I was met with the same attitude. The employee refused to provide her name, refused to provide a manager's name, and refused to provide any contact information for someone who could address the complaint. To be clear, this is not about the cost of a meal. Had the employee been courteous, professional, or even remotely helpful, we likely would have let the matter go. Emergencies happen. Schedules change. We understand that. What prompted this review was not the lost food or the refund itself--it was the employee's rude attitude, lack of professionalism, and complete unwillingness to help resolve a simple customer service issue. I will also acknowledge that by the end of my phone call, I became frustrated and was not as polite as I should have been. I regret that. However, that frustration came only after repeated attempts to handle the situation respectfully and being met with rudeness and resistance at every turn. A business can recover from a mistake. What it cannot afford is employees who treat customers with contempt and then refuse to provide any way to contact management when a legitimate concern is raised. Management should be aware that this employee's behavior reflects poorly on the entire business. If this is how customers are treated when they encounter an unexpected emergency, then potential customers deserve to know before choosing to spend their money here.

The tacos are on the smaller side so it does take 3-4 tacos for a meal (if no sides) but that is a good thing in that you get to taste all the different options! I stopped in to Guisados and ordered the Chuleta con Chile Verde - pork chop in chile verde with crema, diced tomatoes, onions, and jalapeño over scrambled eggs. My wife ordered the Mexicana - diced tomato, onions, and jalapeño scrambled with eggs and topped with salsa and queso amarillo. We took them to go since we were almost back to the car. By the time I got home, I was pretty hungry. When I opened the bag, I found what were essentially kid sized burritos. Even my wife immediately commented on how small they were. Definitely one of the smallest burritos I have ever had. The flavor was good, actually very good, and the sauce was solid. Unfortunately that was also portioned light, with the container only about half full. No chips with the burritos, and they were $10.50 each, which was higher than the listed online price. Bottom line, the taste delivers but the portion does not. Barely three stars

I have also tried their carne asada (which is served with the unusual addition of a small amount of pinto beans) and they too are great. Had the Al Pastor, the the turkey carnitas, and the jerk chicken - all top notch. Super friendly service, solid staff working the plancha, and a low-key neighborhood vibe. Make sure to try their home made pineapple agua fresca too. This is the kinda taqueria you want on your radar to try. Thank you for keeping it simple, and doing things right.

I ended up getting a chorizo breakfast burrito for $14.50. The burrito is good. The flour tortilla is quality and tastes as if they're made in house. There is a good amount of chorizo and egg; however, for my preferences, it was light on the crispy hash browns and mine was pretty heavy on the melty cheese. Their red salsa is really flavorful, however, and that amplifies the flavors. I definitely would come back if I were in the area, in order to try their tacos, burritos, and ceviches. I hear good things about their fish tacos! Overall, I'm glad that I stopped by when I was in the area.
