    Flan dessert

I have worked for years at a big building a few blocks away. Grew up eating this fare but with tastier green chile. Prices are not as affordable as it used to be. The flan isn't as sweet with caramel. Ambiance is super dark and red. Like a vampire den. Wet burritos are decent and a good size. Beans and rice are tasty. Free chips and salsa. They'll keep bringing more salsa, good - I marinate myself in this. Yes, some of the waitresses are indeed persnickety. Free birthday entree and flan on the day of your birthday. That's nice!

This is my go to place for Mexican cuisine. I have been coming here for over 40 years. The service is very quick from being seated to being served our food. The quality of the food is consistently excellent, stellar in fact! Portions are huge. Every visit you are automatically given a fresh batch of tortilla chips and delicious salsa. Pitchers of margaritas are very well crafted and they do not skimp on the amount of tequila. The ambiance is upbeat. They don't sing for people celebrating a birthday

Wow, the portions here are HUGE! Ordered the Enchiladas and Arroz con Pollo and these plates were hefty! Each order comes with a soup or salad. Go for the albondigas soup because it's so good! The bowl looks small but it's filled with 3-4 meatballs and loaded with veggies. I will be ordering a full portion on my next visit.. yes, it's that good! Great service!

La Capilla has been a reliable choice for a decent Mexican dinner for many years in Old Torrance. I have been coming here since 2006. The staff has changed but the quality of food hasn't changed much. My favorite dishes are the three item combo, beef hard shell taco, chicken enchilada and a chili relleno or the camerones a la diabla or the al mojo de ajo and a blended mango margarita or a Modelo Negra. The chips and salsa are good also. Inside is usually quiet to moderate noise and dark. Service is always attentive and courteous. All the service staff are excellent and love seeing you having a good time.

Party of 10. Excellent night . Excellent service and great food. Huge portions. Ordered the carnitas plate and added a taco and few taquitos to my plate to fulfil my hunger. Look at that beautiful plate. All I can say is it was 5 star visit for me.

La Capilla has been our family go to since my girls were babies 40 years ago. Some of the servers still work there, some still recognize me. Our friends and family have met at La Capilla since the 80s. I always order the same thing shredded beef taco a la carte with a side of guacamole with Orange Fanta. That's it! It may not be the best around, but it's our best. It's better than any Mexican place near where we live in Seattle. So when we get a chance we tell friends to meet us there when we are in town. Everything is always fresh. From the chips and salsa they place in front of you, to the dishes you get after craving down the chips and pretty much drinking the salsa. The guacamole is more my choice, it's always made right for me. The place is old, and has the OG Mexican charm where the servers still were the same outfits they wore when I was a teen. We'll always be back as long as they are still open.

I went to this restaurant recently for a late lunch with 3 friends while visiting in Torrance. It was just like stepping into a wonderful restaurant in the past. So comfy, great service, friendly and colorful and retro decor. Looks like a lot of locals. We ordered two mini tostadas, a carnitas burrito and the Puerto Vallarta, bacon wrapped shrimp. We also got 2 orders to go. The foot was delicious with large portions. I had a blended margarita which was also great. We will definitely come back when in the area.

We had a great time at this restaurant. The food was really good and portions were large. We had margaritas and they kept the chips and salsa coming would highly recommend. The service was very good and the inside was decorated old Mexican style.

One of my favorites in the South Bay. Have been here several times, including stops coming home from the Catalina Ferry terminal. DELICIOUS: My favorite is the Enchiladas Del Mar which never disappoints! Dealing with 405 was well worth the trip! Friendly staff, nice location right Downtown and close to everything. My first discovery here was when The Broadway at Del Amo was still The Broadway. Always pleased to see it's still here and doing well. My server Maria G was excellent. I look forward to coming here again the next time I am near Torrance.

Busy little place in old Torrance. Portions are huge and nice. Service was quick. Margaritas were great!! A bit loud but otherwise all good!

My family stopped in to try La Capilla on a Saturday night. The restaurant was packed and had a lively atmosphere - loud conversations, plates of food sizzling, overall great energy! They start you off with fresh (and spicy) tomato salsa and chips. There's a wide variety to choose from on the menu including kids options too. The portions were generous and the food was tasty. We had attentive service as well. My family had a nice time here at La Capilla and enjoyed the food.

The food here is really good. They do a very good job of not only sourcing high quality ingredients, but preparing each dish with a very nice presentation. In terms of atmosphere, this is a large restaurant. They have numerous interior tables, as well as some exterior tables, as well. They also have a very nice bar area. Their seating is all very well spaced so you never feel like you're sitting too close to any other customer. This gives you the space to feel comfortable having conversations with whomever you're with. On certain night in the evening, they actually bring in a band. Not your traditional mariachi band or anything like that. But, a band that performs some really interesting takes on both traditional and modern Latin music. The staff here are all super nice. They're happy to help you out with whatever you need. And, they do a really good job doing their job. One thing to know about this restaurant is that they're currently offering Sunday brunch beginning at 9:00 AM. I know the sign outside says that the brunch doesn't begin till 11:00 AM. But, don't let that fool you. They actually are opening at 9:00 AM. Meaning, you can come in here on Sunday morning and have a really great breakfast. Overall, if you're in the Old Torrance area, and you want to have some great Latin inspired food, this may be your place to go.

The enchilada's corn tortilla is wrapped around my favorite filling, tender and juicy carnitas. My favorite mole is the Mole Negro, black as the nighttime sky with a deep smoky and sweet flavors. The dry chilies, sesame seeds, nuts, Oaxacan chocolate, and herbs provide a velvety sauce for the chicken picadillo. The darkly hued Mole Coloraditos has a little bit of a spicy kick from its toasted chilies, nuts, sesame seeds, chocolate, tomatoes, and spices. It's hard not to use the shredded beef enchilada to swab the plate clean. I would seriously lick the plate clean if I was at home. OK, the last one isn't a mole. The Salsa Verde is tangy from its tomatillos, green chilies, onions and garlic. The crumbly chorizo and cheese enchilada is comforting. The enchiladas are topped with queso fresco, onions, and parsley. Parking: There's plenty of street parking, but you may have to walk a couple blocks.
