    Bright and colorful sign.
    Brent M.

This unassuming little delight will surprise you. The surroundings are simple when you walk in but the bright and colorful sign on their counter is the clue to what awaits you. The menu is packed with standards and a list of meat options longer than a large restaurant. We tried a smattering of items including the super nachos, Tex Mex crispy tacos, Al pastore taco, chicken burrito, beef chimichanga, and brisket chimichanga. Everyone gave a thumbs up and my brisket chimi was amazing! We like to try places we haven't been before and even though I was underwhelmed walking in the door, I am flying high. Focus on the sign because it's colors are a bright as their food is flavorful!

Went here to grab a quick work lunch. It is small with not much seating but the service is quick and the food is good and lots of it. Definitely worth a try if you are in the area.

Such a great little hidden gem. My wife and I split a couple of fish tacos and two street tacos. Everything had great flavor and just the right amount of spice. It seems quite authentic, a great addition to our neighborhood.

La Catrina is sooo good!! Seriously the cutest hole in the wall Mexican place. Family owned and the owners are so nice! We got a bunch of things to try; loved the birria, burritos, and all of the tacos. They gave us homemade flan to try as well and it was so good!! Seriously go here and help support small businesses!

Delicious food! We tried the Gringas (tacos but grilled face down with cheese) and a burrito. It's a bit of a hole in the wall with minimalist decorations and tables. But sometimes that's how you know it's legit. I was pleasantly surprised by the food quality. The sala bar was topped off and had delicious salsas and sides. Staff was kind and helpful. Food came out pretty quickly. Not a lot of places to sit if you have a large group. Plenty of parking in the lot by Dave's market. Highly reccomend!

Chicken, pastor, steak, chorizo Street tacos

We have been living in the vicinity of this restaurant for years. We just barely started eating here after my husband stopped by on a whim and LOVED it. I've tested out well reviewed street tacos all over Utah from St. George to Salt Lake. This place is definitely our favorite quick taco spot. I think it's the well seasoned meat for me. We've had the chicken, steak, chorizo and Pastor (pork) street tacos. Although I've only tested the tacos on the menu so far my absolute favorite item was the Tex Mex crispy taco. I thought they were just dreamy, the tortilla wasn't overly greasy and had a light crisp flavor. Very small space with limited indoor seating options but it's absolutely perfect for take out. We purchased 12 tacos and fed our family of 5 for 20 dollars! Very difficult to come by this abundantly reasonable pricing for fresh food made with care. Finally the staff is always friendly and informative. Update- We've already returned! We tested out the Rolled taco plate, Sopa (topped with their green avocado salsa and limes), fries topped with meat, cheese, guacamole and sour cream (the kids loved those) and chips and salsa. I think the rolled taco plate might be my go to while I pick through the rest of the menu. Update- My husband and I stopped by for lunch and they were grilling brisket and pork belly! Probably one the most serendipitous day of my life. We had been painting all morning and the brisket and pork belly were divine.

Good service, good food, cheap prices! We loved the fresh salsa bar and we all enjoyed our food. The tacos were all seasoned and cooked well. The only downer for me is the atmosphere, only a couple tables and they weren't cleaned yet when we arrived. I would get takeout next time but return for the awesome prices. They are a much needed addition in Edgemont area.

    Outdoor eating.

Awesome tacos. A little small inside so probably want it to go. Can't go wrong here, but I love the asada and red salsa.

From the moment we walked in, the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Alejandra in particular was amazing -- she made us feel right at home and took great care of us. The restaurant itself is spotless. You'd swear it was brand new. The booths are comfortable, the custom chairs are a nice touch, and it's clear the owners take real pride in the place. Everything feels fresh, clean, and thoughtfully put together. The salsa and chips were on point -- perfectly seasoned and addictive. I tried pozole for the first time, and it absolutely did not disappoint. The broth was rich and flavorful, the pork was tender, and the hominy was cooked perfectly. My wife ordered her go-to Enchiladas Suizas and said they were very good -- she was impressed. I went with the Chile Verde Burrito and a beef taco. Both were tasty, well-seasoned, and satisfying. I left feeling full and happy. This is a proper, quality Mexican restaurant with great staff and amazing food. Places like this set the bar high -- other restaurants should definitely take notes! We'll be back soon.

Our waiter recommended the molcajete, so we decided to order it to share. Unfortunately, the dish was not very good. The molcajete came out extremely full of sauce and the flavors just didn't taste right. We were pretty hungry, but we ended up barely eating it because it wasn't enjoyable. Since we were still hungry, I ordered some street tacos for us instead. When the waiter brought the bill, he charged us the full price for the molcajete even though he could clearly see we barely touched it. There was no offer to adjust the bill or even ask if something was wrong with the dish. To make it more uncomfortable, he also asked us to pay in cash. Overall, the place smelled great when we arrived, but the food and customer service didn't meet expectations. Hopefully they can improve the quality of the food and how they handle situations when customers are not satisfied.

My waiter only barely spoke English but we could figure it out. The chips & salsa they set down was a mixed result. The chips were terrific. The salsa was a small kind of watery bowl that tasted much more sour than usual. It was okay. Just not as good as the chips. I ordered the Taconazo after ascertaining that it was a variant on carne asada. I asked if it came with tortillas. Si. It came pretty fast and he pointed to a station to one side of the dining area and said, "Salsas!" Sadly the salsa cups were tiny. I could barely fit any pickled onions inside. There were also some big jugs of various agua frescas there, nestled in ice. The "Taconazo" consisted of LOTS of onions, peppers, cheese, crispy bacon(!), cactus, and strips of steak. I liked it quite a bit. There was a bit of trouble at the end. My food was 15.99 but my bill was $21. So I asked for a itemized bill (tips weren't included). Turned out they'd charged me $2.99 for a fountain drink, but I'd only had water. I showed them the error. Rather than change the bill, they just handed me $3 in bills so that worked. (Yes I tipped.) Anyway good food with only minor glitches, and I'll be trying it again.
