I ordered some food for me and my woman and tbh gang it was some abysmal bs half assed Mexican food. A Mexican food place is only as good as their rice and beans. I suggest checking out Agave in Newburyport as I would say this is their strength. Their rice and beans is so good I bring it home and eat it the next day. I wouldn't even walk out of the restaurant with your stuff. Under seasoned, bland, not good quality all around. Salsa wasn't bad tho. Almost Mexican. Or, at least as close as you can get here. This is the real thing and it's in the perfect place in the ideal town of Newmarket. Once upon a time just a one horse town until that multitude of amazing places that put it on the map. Weekday weeknight weekend. It doesn't matter because this place is always busy and that says just about everything, doesn't it? There are only a couple things that could be considered detractors. The service is a bit too matter of fact for me and the place is too small. On top of that it's loud and I'm talking like 80 decibels loud. Loud enough to make it difficult to converse with your table mate. There's only one booth with the rest of the seating being high-tops. The fish tacos are excellent though I think a bit short on ingredients. 3 tacos with sides of refried beans and rice. Top it of with a Dos XX Amber and there ya have. We probably come here once a week at this point! Service is always with a smile and even when they are busy it is worth the wait! Happy hour at the bar in cocktails and beer 4-6 pm is half priced drinks which are already very reasonably priced. Our total for 2 for dinner on Friday with two drinks was under $40! Just ordered door dash form here. Yes, the dasher was slow. However, lime juice is a key ingredient to guacamole. Lime juice is acidic and acid with tin foil does not mix. Also, foil is retains heat. Guacamole should not be a blackish brown color. Then, there was no sauce on my cold fried wings with limpy salad underneath. Maybe a garnish I guess? Hot wings on top of cold salad in the car for an extended period of time....appetizing?! This food is not fit for my dogs! read more

Dear Diary, It's been 48 hours since we ate at LaCatrina and I've finally been able to leave the bathroom. 24 hours ago, I thought the house was spinning wizard of oz style, and then I saw a bright light and dead relatives trying to get me to follow them into the abyss! Wish I could do half stars, because this is a 4.5 star review. We ended up here as our second choice, and it was certainly worthy of top-billing. We were greeted upon entry and told to sit where we pleased. We promptly had bar service (menus, drink order) and were made to feel very much at home. Our server smiled brightly and made us feel welcome (she wore a mask, but that did not diminish the smile -- a lost art in service!). Beverages were served quickly (though we were also afforded more time if we wanted it). We placed an appetizer order which was put in and we were served it before our main order taken (as it should be, IMHO). We never felt rushed, though all part of our order came quickly. The nachos were excellent. I'd say the food was a solid four stars, the service five. We placed our main order (fajitas for my wife, simple tacos for me). If there IS a criticism, they may serve TOO MUCH food. We both got two meals out of the order (which only totaled $50 for app, two entries, and beverages). The decor is interesting. While there is the wear-and-tear of a small town bar, it's very clean. The flavor of the food was absolutely delightful. Presentation was rustic, but satisfactory. We WILL be coming back. Like to stress one last time, friendly, competent service. There were locals/regulars who came in and were acknowledged, but we were never made to feel like the interloper (*we* felt like regulars). Excellent lunch today! I had the Mexicanas enchiladas (chicken enchiladas) and my wife had tacos Al Pastor ( shredded pork). Both were great and very well seasoned the tacos had a nice spice on the back end. Healthy portions and friendly quick service. As good as I've had in NH. The short is good food that took almost an hour to get. We sat right away and were quickly greeted my our server who took drink orders. The place quickly filled with only 1 server and a bartender. I have been in this area off and on for 8 years plus and visited 4 or 5 times and have to share an experience you will not be disappointed! The food is very authentic, great portions, drinks are amazing and for all this great on your wallet. This is a must visit for all of us thinking budget and still get quality and amazing experience.
