I had the Curry Bahn MiRitto. Amazing. Nice heat and so fresh. I love curry so much and to find a good sandwich using it is rare. We had an all-day work party and wanted to have some take out that we could share. We ordered up the sweet potato and curry bowl. Nice flavors that mixed well together. The fire bowl: my favorite and although hot not killer and the smoked flavor of the peppers were a wonderful treat. Our last bowl was the Korean bowl of fermented veggies and we added hot sauce for a kick. This was a favorite of two of party, but it could have a little more contents for me. We ordered two sandwiches the Chicken bacon ranch panini and the balsamic chicken wrap. They were both delicious. Set up the dinner family style with everyone having a full plate, sharing, and even some had seconds while leaving enough left over for a light lunch the next day. Entering the restaurant on a Saturday night, the young staff seemed annoyed to have our business. We were not greeted. We uncomfortably put our orders in. When we received the food, we were shocked at the presentation. The burger was upside down, bun was flat and hard, no wrapping in the container. Looked like prison food. I looked at it and couldn't believe I had just spent $11.00 on it. The vegan bowl, again, looked like a bunch on random ingredients poorly combined together. First off, I have to say the service was first rate. The young man waiting on us could not have been nicer or more accommodating. Me and my partner in crime tried takeout from here and it did not miss! Each of us were able to eat in our own different corners of the world - depending on our ethnic cravings, and both dishes had the flavors to transport you right there. The burrito is one of the best he's had in his life, and had a real Smokey southwestern flavor (he likes jalapeños and it got a bit spicy towards the end but he ate the whole thing). I did not know what to expect from the curry bowl, but it had the perfect balance of sweetness from the sweet potatoes, and savor from the curry to be the perfect comfort meal for any masala lover. This was our first time here and we can't wait to try his other dishes, as NH natives who love our international cuisine (which is VERY hard to come by in the boondocks). This vegan bowl is really awesome. I almost went for the impossible burger and then thought to go with healthier choice. It was so so delicious. I didn't not regret it. It was sweet, salty, crunchy, warm, and spicy. I could eat this every day and not get sick of it. Tofu was cooked perfect! I'm picky with tofu and hate it squishy or watery in the inside and this was excellent. This was a happy accident of a lunch since we were headed a block away to the Oak place but they had a note on the door that they closed for a cookout for staff. Thought that was odd for a Saturday but oh well we benefitted from it and got some amazing eats. My daughter said the PNJ panini was the best PBPini ever and she wants lunch here every day. I had the Black Beard burger, which was one of the best burgers I've had in years. The patty was a solid, square-shaped, juicy delight. This review is overdue. One of my favorite places in Newmarket, and some of the best quick bites around. The beef tacos keep me coming back, and with Tacos Tuesday I'm back at lest every Tuesday. Most of the time it's take out, but we sat down in the restaurant for the first time ever tonight. It's small inside, can maybe seat 15 max with a small bar, but we were the only ones there on a Saturday around 3:30. Food came super quick. Good selection of local beers too. I got the Korean BBQ bowl with chicken and my friend got the same, but he went with the BBQ pork. I should have gone with the pork because the chicken was kind of bland which I was surprised by. Still gets 5 stars for the great service and what is usually great tastes. (Hooked in the beef tacos.) Have been coming back for a while and will continue too. read more

Fabulous hole in the wall place in Newmarket with only about 20 seats. We sat at the "bar" and were entertained by the staff the entire time! We have now been here 2x in same week. Another one of those places you just want to like with too many roadblocks. This might be a second chance. When you first walk in the door the impression you get is that it's an order at the counter place, but it's not. It's very small with only 4 tables and 5 bar stools. Cozy might be the word. The salad was too small. It should've been a full bowl but it wasn't and not worth $11. Greek with no tomatoes. It was a mesclun with artichoke hearts and roasted peppers from a can served with a ranch dressing. Ok. It's not a Greek salad and there wasn't enough of it. So why call it that? I'm leaving hungry after an $11 salad that had virtually nothing in it that would even begin to contribute to satiety, like maybe a little feta or something. If it's a dinner salad I should be able to eat just that alone and be satisfied. Falafel wrap 7 out of 10. It was filling. His words but that's all he gave. I left hungry. This is a strange review to write, because I have such mixed feelings about my meal here. Of note, I'm writing this during COVID, so we got our order to go, and I have yet to sit for the full dining experience. We ordered three dishes: Steak Taco Bowl, Korean Bowl and Sweet Potato Curry Bowl. Steak Taco Bowl: Let me start by saying that the quantity and quality of pulled-steak in this meal was stellar! The meat was as flavorful and juicy as a 3-day barbacoa, and thinly covered the entire top of the bowl. If this standard of quantity/quality was maintained throughout the entirety of the three dishes, this would be one of my best food experiences in years. The disappointment was (as with every dish ordered) with everything else on the plate. This came with guacamole (a selling point), yet I could have put all the guac I was served on a spoon, and have space left over for all the tortilla chips that was also meant to grace this dish. Same story for every other ingredient - sans rice, which was just skimpy, rather than virtually nonexistent. The overall presentation felt like a small meat dish, with a chunky garnish, on rice. To be clear, the flavor was almost divine, but it was not worth the price (reasonable as it seems), for this total food quantity. I have no idea if in-restaurant portions would be larger, for whatever reason. 3/5 Korean Bowl: This was the biggest letdown of the night. The selling point for this dish was kim chi and tofu. We all sifted through the box, looking for signs of kim chi (looking under the six, thinly sliced and flavorless pieces of tofu), and were rewarded with one M&M-sized ort of what might have been kim chi, if you squinted. Watching someone eat that dish, while the rest of us ate real food (if not much of it), was a truly depressing experience. This was the opposite of the steak I thoroughly enjoyed, in that it had zero flavor. 2/5 Sweet Potato Curry Bowl: this was the workhorse of the night. The flavor was mild, yet noticeable in every bite; the portions were as expected, and the box weighed like a brick in the hand. Yeah, it was a bit on the boring side, but the price was right, and it was filling. Plus, when ordered without protein, one can only expect so much, when the main ingredient is a water-laden vegetable. 4/5 I'm glad this restaurant is here, in that it's one more option for the area, the prices are not outrageous and the offerings are interesting (or would be, if the plates matched the menu descriptions). I just wish that the quality and ingredient ratios were consistent and balanced. We might give this place another chance, when we can safely dine-in again. If so, I may update this review. I'm really hoping that we just went here on an "off night". read more

JBI is a local treasure. Very popular with the locals, but also draws people from all over the seacoast. They have unique takes on all sorts of street food from all over the world. This place is great!! We stopped here for lunch after discovering the previous occupent of the space had gone out of business. I had a cuban sandwich and my wife had a greek steak sandwich. Both sandwiches were incrediblly good with the bread absolutely delicious. We went back several days later and I had the Bahn Mi. The sandwich was mildly spicy but again delicious. This was my first time at Jonny's, an "international" eating experience as friends had described it. From early peaks I had seen of their menu on FB, I had anticipated a spicy hot menu, maybe too hot for me. I was pleasantly surprised at the wide array of tastes on the menu. The salads caught my eye until I spotted a customer eating some sort of soup at one of the tables near the street side window. I asked about the soup, which was in reality a dish called: "Ramon Braised Pork Belly made with noodles, egg, scallions, Kimchi & Pork broth. It was spiced just right for my pallet, warmed me to the bones on a really freezing Feb noontime and was quite filling. While waiting for my noodles, I tried the tortillas & guac, tasty & a step above most guacs I've had recently at Chipotle, Boloco, Qudoba, etc. Try It, you'll like it It's small, just a few seats, but the food comes out soon after your order & it's hot. Obviously many order to go as I did and they make it easy. Parking is an issue but well worth the walk after you find a spot in this really special New England waterfront mill town. read more

1- Moved to Newmarket last summer and based on the reviews I decided to drive from Pease in Portsmouth to Newmarket during a lunch break to get a sandwich (the Sorrento). It was such a wholesome sandwich and I remember feeling like it was the perfect size- not too big that I was half asleep all afternoon; not too small to be ripped off. Most important- it was DELICIOUS- quality was superb. 2- Over the course of a long winter, I went back to JBI 5 or 6 times (all takeout), and got the Sorrento 4 or 5 times (burrito the one exception). EVERY TIME it was delicious. EVERY TIME. Consistency is the biggest key to a place like this IMO, and this one delivers. 3- I went to JBI for lunch AND dinner today. This is what compelled me to write a 5 star review. For lunch, I got the Steak and Cheese, and it was better than I could ever have imagined. I don't mean to overhype this place- it's a sandwich shop- but it constantly delivers. The steak and cheese may be my new go-to. Then for dinner I got the Sweet potato sandwich, and it too exceeded my expectations as well. I'm not a vegetarian but it does qualify as a vegetarian sandwich and thus would recommend to the non meat eaters (along with the brienini). TLDR- based on 8 months here, best sandwiches and takeout in Newmarket, A+ for consistent quality, portion size is what lunch should be, highly recommend the Sorrento and Steak + Cheese read more
