I will say the margarita pizza was a little underwhelming and not what we are used to. It was basically a cheese pizza with a few basil leaves on it. The pasta tho was great and I would recommend and return.

We started off with the spinach dip...everyone loved this. I tried it, but to be fair, I am not a fan of spinach dip. It wasn't bad, because the dish was clean, but I am not a fan of it. Based on the reception, I am going to say it was a winner, if you like that sort of appetizer. The Queen and I got the Antipasto Italiano (italian meats and cheeses). The selection of meat and cheeses were nice, but the overall size was a little small in my opinion. For entrees, me and The Doctor got the Spaghetti Bolognese and The Queen got the Spaghetti Arrabbiata. The bolognese was very good. The sauce was loaded with meat. For the Arrabbiata, I would say that the presentation looked great, but this is not a dish I would eat because it is spicy hot. The Queen likes hot and super hot, so this was eaten with relish by her. Because she likes hot stuff, the owner brought out extra red pepper as well as an oil that contained spices and whatever was used to make the Arrabbiata, only it was hotter. The Queen used the oil and was ok with it. My friend got a steak with grilled veggies and mashed potatoes. He is not big on potatoes, so he asked if he could have some of my pasta and he would give me the potatoes. I looooooooove potatoes and these were so good. They were whipped very well and loaded with butter and herbs. They were a great side to my pasta :-) We did not do dessert as we were stuffed. They also do pizzas, so will have to try that out next visit down. All in all, this was a great Italian meal in Mexico.

My Spanish is conversational don't smile, just agree. Now for the rest of the review, Massimo's has an eclectic menu, and an exciting specials menu. The bread sticks they give you, well there adequate. But, this area is a humid as a witches broom. Soooooooo........... I ordered from the special of grilled Pulpo or filled octopus. It was outstanding, if Massimo's didn't give me a vodka and WATER, when I ordered just vodka chilled, I'd be raving about this place. Alas, I'm angry at getting ripped of. The food is outstanding, the service is good, the bartender should be lynched.

Now more "dressed up", the service attentive and let's just say a big improvement in atmosphere and otherwise. A substantial menu with homemade pasta the focal point. We opted to start with bruschetta which was among the best we have had. The crostini were just right, not burnt to crispy hardness. Sandra had a filet which was tender--in itself a major accomplishment in these parts. She liked the funghi (mushroom) sauce. I can't comment because sauce on steak just isn't my favorite anywhere. I had the octopus which was chargrilled, which I enjoyed. The surprise was the wine list: few options basically one of each type. That said, the Italian Chianti was outstanding and that made all the difference when the selection is limited. We could not have eaten dessert however they provided us a tiramisu for home which when we had it was amazing. Service was excellent and once again a dinner that exceeded our expectations. Never did try the homemade pastas which looked delightful so that is our excuse to go back once again. But the wine choice is already done.

With beautiful trees growing through the floor to the ceiling, the gorgeous lights that twinkle and bring romance to the space, it is all perfect. The staff! Wow! We never felt rushed but always were attended to. The food came with the perfect attention to detail and timing. At no point did I feel rushed or a burden to anyone. What an amazing feeling. Now the food! I am from a very prominent Italian food area and I was very impressed with that selections. The lasagna was stunning, the carbonara needed nothing and gave you that sweet hug from the inside you dream of. I got the ravioli with butternut squash and ricotta. I was stunned. It has been over a week since I had it and I still dream about it at night. What a hidden gem!
