This area is mainly reservation all the places I wanted to attend were full. With that said we walked a little further and found this gem. I came by this place by chance. Celebrated my birthday with a well cooked restaurant snapper and pina coladas.staff was friendly right at the entrance of the marina. I definitely recommend. Avg prices.

Stopped by for a quick drink and appetizer. The spicy margarita was excellent, with the bartender adding a fresh pepper straight from a potted plant on the bar. The octopus was grilled right in front of us and was both fresh and delicious. I only wish we had more time to enjoy another visit. I highly recommend a visit!

The place...you know you're on the Caribbean here.

We've gone to restaurant after restaurant here, because, well, that's our thing. And with only one other exception, this is the only place that really walks as it talks. Great seafood. Excellent drinks. Attentive, polite service. Interesting atmosphere. Real Caribbean style. Decent value. This joint ticks off box after box. It's so unusual, especially in a resort area, to find an eatery that cares about the quality of what they put in front of you. The shrimp tacos were perfect in every detail, from the sweet tortillas to the properly deveined and gently cooked shrimp, in a delicious crema. The grilled corn was satisfyingly sweet and roasty, and the octopus was treated exquisitely and grilled perfectly over a wood fire, served with a rustic chimichuri and perfect mashed yams. The margaritas were strong and served with a Tajin rim, as they ought to be. The beer was actually cold. The setting, next to the busy marina, with boats coming and going, the sounds of the jungle birds crying at sunset, and the warm salt breeze seasoning everything... Yeah, you should eat here. I would fly down here just to eat here. Not kidding. It's that good. And they don't even try to trick you or gouge you in the traditional Yucatán fashion. I can't recommend this enough. Cure your tourist blues here, Yankee Doodle. Thank me later.

Wonderful, authentic and flavorful find right in the middle of where you'd least expect it.

Mi novio y yo fuimos a La Caleta cuando llegamos. La primera vez que fuimos los dos ordenamos el ceviche mixto y ceviche verde pero no le tome fotos todo estuvo de maravilla el ambiente y los trabajadores eran personas amables. My boyfriend and I went here 2 times during our trip the first night we had 2 different ceviche meals, the mixed one and the green one. Everything was amazing including the workers. The second time we went we had shrimp and streak with cauliflower and a side of a salad. We ordered grilled corn on the cob as well as a fried fish known as huachinango with smashed sweet potatoes

This was by far some of the best seafood I have ever had! I will definitely be hitting this place up the next time we are in town. The food was not overly complicated, but the flavors were amazing! Yeah, yeah, yeah...I know everyone has already talked about the grilled octopus. But I don't care, I am going to talk about that grilled octopus. It was grilled to perfection, with a lovely woody/grilled taste.Completely tender, melting in my mouth. But was totally incredible about the meal was the fact I got to have mashed potatoes with them. Total win win for me as most seafood places do not serve mash potatoes with the dish and I love mash potatoes. You also had the option of getting mashed sweet potatoes as well with the dish. The ceviche, which was a diet staple while I in Mexico, was very tasty. My only complaint would be I could have had a much bigger serving. I am blaming The Pub (see review) for that as they spoiled me with their ginormous servings of ceviche. Truth be told, the serving size was standard, I just wanted more. There was an this octopus cheese empanada that we ordered for an appetizer. First time I have ever had that combination and it was very good. The pastry was nice and flaky. The Doctor got the grilled chicken with mashed potatoes. I had a taste and it was good Not sure I would order it. While it was delicious, it is hard to do chicken with all of that grilled seafood calling out to you from the grilled. The Queen and one of our friends got the grilled lobster. Price was based on size. Again it was prepared to perfection. These guys know what they are doing when it comes to grilling and they do it well. I guess they also cook up a mean breakfast, according to my friends. Will have to check it out next time. If you are in this part of the country, get thee to La Caleta and eat some grilled food pronto.

Location - Nice location in the marina here in the plaza next to the dock. Parking - I got lucky and found parking right away, but looks like it can be hard to find on the weekends. Venue - Cool little spot almost like a hidden gem. They check temperature and make you sanitize as entering. Mosquitoes - Make sure you spray bug repellent as we got bit a lot not knowing it. Food - Great food with that authentic taste, squid was good but not as from what we had experienced at other places on the trip. Cost - Cost is low and portions are good. Drinks - Pretty stiff and good drinks. Service - Great service and nice employees. Overall all cool spot and worth checking out.

Food was excellent. Enjoyed the half-chicken from the wood fired parrilla. Well seasoned and well grilled. Fries were good as well. Shrimp brochette was also wood-fire grilled. Cauliflower appetizer was a nice way to start. Probably return soon to try the grilled seafood.

We were visiting from Ohio and we chose La Caleta based on the amazing reviews. We were not disappointed at all. The staff was welcoming and friendly. The beer was ice cold. We ordered the seafood soup, breaded fish, octopus carpaccio, onion rings, and shrimp tacos. Everything came out hot and it was all delicious. If you are visiting, you need to make La Caleta a top priority!!

Excellent food- I had the jumbo breaded shrimp and it was probably the best shrimp I've ever had! Staff was super friendly! Had a great sunset view of the marina for dinner!

Our family considers La Caleta to to, hands-down, the best dinner spot we visited during our quick getaway to Puerto Aventuras Mexico. You won't find it on the "main drag" of restaurants and shops that circles the dolphin sanctuary. And depending on where you're staying, it might be a golf cart ride away. Definitely find some trusty Wi-Fi and find it on your map. Trust us, it's worth it. Much like the rest of the restaurants in the resort, all the dining tables are outside. La Caleta has a huge wood burning stove just off to the side of the dining area that they use to cook many of the dishes they serve and it smelled amazing. The smell of that oven literally pulled us into the restaurant. La Caleta is touted as a seafood restaurant. One thing you must try is their ceviche. It is the tartest tangiest ceviche I've ever eaten! Both males in the family ordered it, and I just had a few bites. But man, oh, man! That's a flavor that I'll remember for years to come! Service was fantastic, as we'd come to expect in the resort. Loved noticing that pretty much every other patron was clearly a regular there. You could definitely tell just by the comfortableness with which they spoke. The night we were there, we were the only folks there speaking English, which made us feel like we'd made the perfect choice for dinner. Definitely the best part of our visit to La Caleta was when a local man walked up to to the server and cook carrying a large five gallon bucket with two huge fish in it. They started talking and pulled the fish out to be inspected. They carefully looked the fish over and talked some more before the guy handed the bucket over to the cook. Then the server handed that guy some cash. We realized we just witnessed a transaction that was going to be someone's incredibly fresh seafood dinner! That is something we never see in the States, and not just because we live in landlocked Indiana!

We have had a home in Puerto for 14 years yet only now are trying some of the restaurants for dinner (sometimes hard to beat delicious home cooking with fresh fish overlooking the water). And the restaurants just didn't seem seem that appetizing. That has now changed and La Caleta is one of the winners. Go ahead and read the rave reviews of the grilled octopus. I could wax on right here about how delicious it was however others have already shared their experience. And I say "absolutely right". It was that good and that perfect. We also had the marrow bones as an appetizer although they were delicious and filling enough to have been a main course. The snapper was fresh, although a bit dry yet still delicious. The servers could not have been more pleasant and attentive. And since I am a grill person myself, the smell of the wood brings you in and keeps you company the entire meal. So the other reviews are on target: out of the way, quiet, wonderful menu and food, great value in a restaurant that could hold its place almost anywhere. Well worth a visit.

This beach club beckons you with its pop music and youthful demographic. It certainly seems like a happening spot right there on the beach. What's our take on La Playa? Let's get straight to the point... Atmosphere - Located on one of the most beautiful beaches in Mexico, the atmosphere is absolutely amazing by itself. La Playa plays a mix of music and creates a sort of "low key party vibe" while guests lounge on padded chairs or mattresses while sipping margaritas and eating ceviche. Everything was spaced out and clean, adhering to Covid restrictions. Temps are checked and guests are tracked via their website before entrance which adds to safety at this time. Rating 5/5 Service - As a couple of other reviewers noted, it depends on who you get here. Our server was not very attentive and failed to check on us multiple times during our visit. Our food was also an hour late getting to us and Louis, the manager had to serve it to us himself. Although the issue was resolved in the end, we were not notified ahead of time and the lack of communication as well as failure to take initiative on the part of the staff is a reason to remove a star from this review. Service should be exceptional for the price you pay here ($55 minimum for a meal and 2 drinks) and it was lacking in this area unfortunately. Rating 4/5 Food - Food was muy bueno, although it arrived to us an hour late. We would definitely recommend the nachos and ceviche which turned out to be very hearty and flavorful! Pricing can be on the expensive side, (but hey, we are on the Caribbean side of Mexico, so we've learned to expect that) however, sizes are appropriate and plentiful for 2 people. Drinks were made well and there is a good selection to choose from. Rating 5/5 Overall, La Playa is a nice place to "chill" and relax on the beach for a day should you visit the area and want to lounge at a hip beach club. Expect pricing to be a little high as it can be quite touristy along this strip in Xpu-Ha, although, for the experience and views it may very well be worth it!

First off, the beach is beautiful. The sand is powdery soft, the water is warm and a perfect…read moreturquoise color, but calm enough for my young kids to swim. There is seaweed, but it isn't bad. Unfortunately, the second (last) time we came, the water was absolutely full of tiny particles of trash. You simply couldn't avoid it, and it was super gross. I only went in the water for 10 minutes, though I normally would have loved to swim for hours. My kids had bits of plastic in their hair and under their bathing suits after their own swims. Yuck. The beach club is fine. There's a mix of palapas, umbrellas, and canopies for shade, but that does cost extra (see below). The lounge chairs are nothing special but do the job. Food and drinks are decent. Quality of service is very dependent on who your server is - Amado was fantastic, but the server on our second visit was not. There's plenty of free parking, and you can park close if you arrive early - be aware the dirt road in is eroded and very bumpy though. We never used the bathrooms. I felt value was pretty good: - If you simply want beach access to put your towel down, 50 pesos per person. - if you want to use the club for restaurant service, it's 200 pesos per adults, 100 per child, but think of it as a deposit because this is deducted from your final bill. - to rent lounge chairs, it's an extra 120 pesos per chair, and only on the second visit did they tell us we could return those wristbands for 40 pesos back.
