Fresh seafood and lovely service awaited us at this quaint restaurant along the marina. We are staying at the nearby all inclusive resort and wanted a little break from the restaurants on site. Found this little place just a couple blocks away and we were delighted with our experience. From the young man who took our drink and orders, to the señorita who attended to us (never letting dirty dishes linger or a glass go empty), to the woman who brought our check, the staff was very friendly and accommodating. We ordered way too much food, well, because everything sounded so delicious. We were used to the all inclusive restaurants who serve tiny portions, knowing you can order as many more as you like, so we may have outdone ourselves! The prices weren't super cheap as this is a resort town, but it was still way less than we would have paid for anything similar back home. Fresh mussels, shrimp stuffed avocado, amazing ceviche, salad and even a pasta dish (forgot to take a picture of that). We may wander this way again before we leave in a few days. Pelican Point is just not my favorite place in Puerto Aventuras. This past Saturday I went in with a friend for our last night in town. The restaurant looked good the few times we went past the location so we decided to stop in for dinner for our last night. Of the restaurants that make up PA this is the most expensive of them, but the quality was pretty good so I can see why have a higher price. We were seated inside since it was a hot sticky day and we had been outside for most of it. We sat down and the wait staff quickly came over to take our drink orders. We ordered our drinks and then the waitress came to take our order. We had not picked what we wanted so we asked for more time in choosing what we wanted. The waitress rudely said that we needed to pick now and that is the policy of the restaurant. What?!? The policy is to choose when you don't know what you want. We asked if we could just get a bowl of soup for now and order more food when the soup comes out? The waitress was annoyed and just walked away. When she came back 10 minutes later we still did not get our soup and we then reordered the soup and choose our entrees. We both ordered the Lime soup which was good but we had better at other places. You also get a huge, ginormous bowl of soup. Both my friend and I only ate about half of the soup and the rest had to be thrown away because it was so much. For dinner I ordered the Mothers Shrimp which was just okay. It could for sure use more salt and pepper. The display of the food on the plate looked wonderful and was displayed very nice! After the meal we realized we needed change for a $20 to tip our waitress. I went up to the owner and asked for change and he rudely gave me some explanation that it is okay to just tip 10% or something. I told him I just needed change for a $20 or we were not going to tip his staff. He said they did not have change in American but could tip in Pasos. I was okay with this until I saw that he did have change for a $20 in US funds but just did not want to give them to us. In the end it was his waitress who was hurt by not giving us the funds in US not us. Overall I would not go back here. The couple we were talking to at the bar had some issues with the bartender being rude and I think the staff all in general were just being rude to everyone all night. If your going to pay a little more the staff even the owner need to be more friendly! read more

Whilst spending 8 days in Puerto Aventuras we tried many of the best restaurants. There are many good options but, standing out far and above the rest, was Pelican Point. After being warmly welcomed by Guillermo, the host and owner, he brought refreshments and proceeded to explain the fresh fare and preparation. He is extremely knowledgeable and entertaining and left us, mouths watering, wanting one of everything. We started with the delicious Caesar Salad for two, made tableside. Next we had two of the three fresh catch entrees, Wahoo and Grouper. These dishes, prepared as recommended by Guillermo, were exceptional. There were also excellent shellfish and meat / poultry choices on his extensive menu. Excellent bar with a great wine and cocktail selection. The restaurant is in a beautiful setting. Great ambience with marina views. Highly recommend Pelican Point as one of your finest dinner choices in PA! read more

Ok Yelpers going to an uber romantic restaurant by yourself is no fun. I feel like Steve Martin in the movie The Lonely Guy. But, I must say it's worth it. Sadly since Yelp doesn't have halfsies I must rate this place with five stars, but for the area, it strongly deserves five stars. As everything near by is just so-so. Pelican point oozes romance, I fell in love with myself all over again. The ambiance here is a 10. I wanted to sit at the bar, it was just me, however, the manager insisted since it was such a beautiful night, I should sit outside and enjoy the Mexican evening. Service is outstanding, they are on the ball and extend themselves to your every need. I started with a cactus salad, it was outstanding, and plated beautifully. Then I jumped into a surf n turf. Now it wasn't they best surf n turf in the world, or that I ever had, but it was good. And, certainly for the area it was a solid 4. Again service will blow you away. It should be noted that yes you can get more for less, a lot less, but here you are paying for ambiance, service. Pelican point was spot on. read more

The good: away from the crowd and the noise of the main lagoon/marina drag. The atmosphere is upscale. It's right on the water. Decor is nice. The host/owner is very knowledgeable and flexible. The sopes were tasty. The eh: no credit cards with a lame excuse that 'the internet is bad so we put in an ATM'... Riiiight, but whatever. Also, they have signs on the table that the food will take a while because it's all from scratch. That's laughable. The bad: my leg of pork was still frozen in the middle. The fish was good, but clearly had been frozen. My margarita was incredibly weak. Prices were about double what you'd pay at the other local restaurant. In short, they have a hugely ambitious menu without the turnover and skillset to pull off. If you need to avoid the crowds, this is a fine alternative. Otherwise, it's a miss. read more

Charming restaurant right on the marina. Service was very attentive, and a delicious Caesar made tableside. We had their special (Wednesday /Sunday) soup or salad, choice of steak cuts, and a glass of wine. Great value for a delicious Rib Eye. The owner even came out to see how we were doing. We went there with friends. It is not a Covid issue it is the fact it is not a good restaurant to eat and extremely overpriced. The ambiance is very nice a d attractive. And this is all. The owner came at the table telling us everything was made at the moment so maybe we needed to wait a bit of time. Ok we had no issues even if the total tables busy were 4 and our table had the maximum number of people (8) while the others 2 or 3 pax. We waited more than an hour to get the appetizers... and they were nothing more than ok - to less than ok - -. Entries was another long wait broken up by some bread asked multiple tomes and our drinks. Entries were nothing special, taste good to descent in some and less than tasty for some others (mine was a boiled artichoke which was supposed to have a super tasty sauce which was not at all super tasty but pretty no taste at all). Same for the main course except for two dishes (coco shrimps and another dish I do not remember of our friends) which were good. My main course dish - shrimps with zucchini base, asparagus and a white cream had o taste at all. A friend complained about the dish she gad and the owner tried nonetheless saying the client is always right spoke for 20 min on why she was not really right and the dish instead was good. By the end the price is super high for the food quality offered. And obviously only cash :( There are plenty of other good restaurants in Puerto Aventuras to have dinner or lunch. read more

I was afraid of this. Pelican Point was a super disappointment. In sum: I'd call it a sham. A very pretty, well-appointed space with lofty menu goals, and two signs on the table: one, they don't accept credit cards (OK, fine. It's Mexico...) and another, that all of your food is made 100% from scratch, to order, so expect to wait a while. Fine. I accept that completely. However...if you hit me with a sign like that, and prices that far exceed everything else in the neighborhood, you better smack me over the head with some gourmet cuisine, man. What I got was overpriced, under-seasoned, amateurishly prepared, tourist trap food. Honestly. I ordered chicken mole, and got over cooked, thinly pounded out chicken breast covered in the most sheepish mole sauce I've ever tasted. I can get better mole down the street in my hood in Poughkeepsie, NY (OK, that isn't a sleight against Poughkeepsie...we actually have a vibrant Oaxacan community here and some very good Mexican food. But still!) The theme was continued throughout, my spouse got the "special" brisket that literally tasted like bland, boring pot roast. My daughter got pasta bolognese (for some reason they also claim to be good at Italian dishes at Pelican Point...) and it was no better than what you can get out of a jar from your local supermarket. So, no recommendation here. Too many other places in Puerto Aventura that deliver the goods to choose from. read more

For such a nice restaurant and atmosphere, this place is lame. We ordered drinks, which were talls, but no alcohol. They don't take credit cards. Management, add an extra 3% to the price of good to cover the card cost. We were in town to take our friends out to a nice dinner. I estimated we would spend about $200(US). Since we couldn't use a card, we left. Went to Hippo's and great time and excellent food. Sorry Pelican. Due to your no card policy, you just lost $200. read more

I had to write this review immediately after finishing our dinner tonight. Do not hesitate to make this your choice for dinner. Everything was beyond spectacular. Atmosphere, food quality and staff were top notch! We started off with the Caesar salad for two which was prepared fresh table side and was by far the most amazing Caesar salad my wife and I have ever had. Sounds odd to praise a salad but this is top notch. We followed the salad with the Mommy Shrimp, conch (snail tartar) and octopus for entrees. I will start with the mommy shrimp. It's incredibly hard to make a shrimp entree to be amazing but this was outstanding. Just the right amount and wrapped with bacon and stuffed with gorgonzola cheese. Yup, this was exactly what I was desiring. My wife and I shared the snail tartar and was delicious. Just the right texture and could of held us over to be full. Lastly we had the octopus brought to the table and while we were already full, this dish didn't allow us to hold back. We tore through this regardless of being stuffed simply because of how great it was prepared. Our 5 year old son enjoyed a pasta dish followed by the chocolate mousse. For a 5 year old, there were no complaints.....obviously. Please make sure you visit this gem of a place on your stay. You will not regret it! We are here for 5 more days and are already planning our next night to visit again! read more

Okay, first things first. This place is not that great and not worth the money. My family and another family went here for dinner. Initially, the owner was speaking to us and telling us how great the food is and how they make everything from scratch, blah blah blah. He just kept saying how great the food was and that it would be the best we would ever taste, which just made me somewhat suspicious. We started with drinks which were not that bad. However, as the meals started coming onto the table my earlier suspicions came to light. Three of us ordered the Lobster Bisque as appetizers. Three of us had it and 3 spoons later we all returned it. It was absolutely terrible. You could taste the shells in the soup. I mean it's like they ground the shells into the soup. Not only that but the Bisque was a dark brown! All Lobster Bisques I've had in the past were a pink/orange color. The rest of the meals (I tasted my wife's food and my kid's food) were mediocre at best. To sum it up there are MUCH better places to eat and drink in the area. You are better off going there. OH, and I almost forgot to add that they accept cash only! They take USD or PESOS. Pay in PESOS as they upcharge if you pay in USD. Also, if you find yourself short on cash the owner has an ATM conveniently located at the restaurant entrance! What a joke! read more

We visited here to do a site inspection for a potential welcome party for my weddings guests arrival at Dreams Puerto Aventuras for our wedding in May. The owners, Juliet and Guillermo are an amazing power couple! I have not felt so at home in a restaurant in years! The owners take their time to talk to the guests, jump in and take any orders to meet any requests, and basically do everything in their power to make site you feel at home! Everything is made fresh and SO good! I highly recommend the artichoke, mussels and seafood pasta. We also loved the ceviche. Guillermo catches a lot of the seafood fresh and it shows but also takes time. If you are anything like me and enjoy long dinners (while having plenty of drinks in the meantime) this is the place for you! Can't wait to have my family and friends here! read more

We have been renting a house in Puerto Adventuras, and the homeowner recommended Pelican Point as the best restaurant in town. We were not disappointed. I called ahead to make a reservation for our party of six, and upon arrival, we were greeted by the gracious owner who led us to our table. We all ordered different drinks from the bar, and everything was delicious. My mojito tasted like coconut and vacation, and the martini and piña colada were also excellent. The bread was warm from the oven. Ordering was difficult for everyone. There were so many choices that it was overwhelming to make a decision. We decided upon several appetizers and an array of dishes. Highlights for starters were the Caesar salad which was made fresh at the table, the tortilla lime soup and the lobster bisque. For entrees, we enjoyed the bourbon pork and lobster cannoli immensely. The mommy shrimp was one of the richest dishes ever with bacon wrapped shrimp and Gorgonzola sauce. The filet of wahoo was fresh and delicious as well. The live music and warm, funky lighting made the ambiance lively. We really appreciated the owner and staff's attentiveness. Super romantic spot. A lot more expensive than everything else in the area, but still super worth it once or twice. Mix the salad at your table type place. Very nice food and strong good drinks, you pay a little more but you feel like you get more. The food is nice, better than most in the area. It is not an authentic Mexican place, though they do serve mostly Mexican food. Still, food goes just on the Tex-Mex side of things. read more
