No one was at the register to take my order. The owners and employees were scrambly behind the counter and kitchen. Hardly no food was on display. I ordered: Relleno Maduro Side of Arroz con gandules Pernil Kebabs with Guava BBQ sauce Trifongo Results: -Relleno Maduro (maduro wasn't fully ripped but the meat was tasty) -Arroz con Gandules (not flavorful) -Pernil Kebabs 3 out of 4 (tender) -Trifongo 2 out of 4 (not dry but no flavor) If I tasted it blindfold, I would have never guessed that it was a Trifongo). The SERVICE (thumbs down) The FOOD (thumbs down) The AMBIANCE (thumbs up)

The chicken was tender and delicious, and the pernil was flavorful, juicy, and tasted fresh. You really can't go wrong with pernil at a good Puerto Rican restaurant--it's one of those dishes that never disappoints when it's done right. Unfortunately, the second visit was a completely different experience. The food was much too greasy, and it tasted as though it had been cooked in old oil. By the third visit, the food just didn't have the same flavor or quality as it did the first time. Because of those inconsistent experiences, when my fiancé asked if I wanted to go back, I decided to pass. It's disappointing because our first visit was so good, but I need consistency to want to keep coming back.

In NY I enjoyed the best Dom Rep food in Washington Heights. Some one at work recommended this…read moreplace so I came for lunch. This place is a hole in the wall. They have a few pArking spaces behind it so that was cool. The place looked clean. They have a variety of typical Dominican dishes. Some examples are moro, chicharron, pernil, pollo guisado, white rice, chivo, bistec en salsa, chuleta frita, yuca con cebolla, vejetales con cebolla and of course mangu. All looked very tempting. I initially wanted the fritura or a chimi but opted for the moro because it looked nice and some chicharron. The girl charged me $7.00 for a pound of chicharron. ( thats over priced) and $4.00 for rice. They both came out to $11.00 which is overpriced for lunch. I asked for lemon for my chicharron and she didn't have any. How do you sell fritura and not have lemon? Wack! I also bought a pastelillo and alcapurria. Alcapurria is a PR thing. I should of known better. The alcapurria was soggy and the chicharron was mega greasy and bland. To the point were my chest was on fire with heart burn. The pastelillo de queso came fried with wrapped processed cheese in the middle. Not even real cheese. Yuk!! The rice was on point! I enjoyed that and ate it plain with nothing else. The portions are standard. The staff was friendly as they should be and had their hair tied back with nets. I give this place 3 stars because you can tell they're really trying. Take your food to go as its very tiny with only 3 tables to eat.

Need this to go Viral!…read more Many of you know that both of my parents tested positive for COVID. My mother is currently in ICU And my Dad is not doing well either. For sometime now, I have been trying to get my parents to eat something. This has not been easy, I'm exhausted! Finally, yesterday my dad agree to eat . He asked me to buy him FRANKS PIZZA ON BLOOMFIELD AVENUE in Newark, NJ. The order was ready so I went to pick up. I parked for six minutes in the parking lot. I honest to God thought that parking belong to FRANKS PIZZA, the cell phone company and Mangu Restaurant. I promise you it was only six minutes. While I was parking, there was a women with a guy and some homeless lady. I came out of the car and said "hi". As I was returning to my car she put a boot on my car. I was very confused and dumbfounded. I asked her, who put this on my car. She smiled and said, I did. I said, please help me understand something, you saw me parking there and you couldn't tell me I could not park there. She said, no that's not my problem you can't read the sign. I asked her where is the sign. She pointed up. I said, listen I didn't see the sign because I'm desperate to get this pizza to my family. I explained my parents are in their 70's and 80's and have Covid. She said it wasn't her problem. I said, you are right it's not your problem, it's mine. I'm just trying to explain what I'm going through as anyone would understand only if they had a heart. I asked for the manager and supervisor and she said no one is around plus the owner of Mangu Resturant doesn't care about my story. She charged me $300.00 to remove the boot off my car. All I wanted was to get my parents their pizza. I'm not one to park anywhere because I respect peoples parking. I honestly didn't know this was a private parking. At least let me know. The guy who was with her responded, well if we don't put a boot than we can't run this business. I understand as I explain to him. If someone parks there and no one is around than I can understand putting a boot on their car, but you are standing right there looking at me and responded to my hi. It's really sad and saddens me, despite of the pandemic and the financial struggle, people like the Mangu owner would not empathize or have sympathy. Like I said to the girl who gave me the boot, it's ok your time will come because what we do on earth we shall pay right here sweety.

Another great spot for breakfast/Brunch!…read more Great location too at Montclair with street parking and walking distance to Crescent Deck Garage. Place is welcoming and had nice natural lighting. We got their Huevos Rancheros, roasted chicken, tuna chaufa and lomo saltado. everything was great - good portions and beautiful flavors! Especially loved their Earl Grey latte too. the flavors of tea and espresso were very well balanced I would love to get that drink again. Also got their smores cookie for a nice sweet ending. We ended up chatting away even after we dined. Staff was very polite reminding us they needed the spot and was also kind enough to give us a some time even before the reminder. Would definitely recommend this place!

My friend and I asked if they sell pan con chicharrón, and though they don't have it on the menu, the chef (Brian) said he'd make it for us! First impression of the service ... amazing. We got the pan con chicharrón and I truly almost cried! I have not had one as delicious as this one in Jersey! The pork was tender, yet nicely fried, and there was not as much fat on it which is always hard as the fat gives it the flavor but too much can be overpowering. After talking to the chef, he mentioned that it is no longer on the menu because people didn't really order it ... so here I am, asking you all to go in and order it, so it can hopefully go back on the menu and everyone can try authentic and delicious Peruvian breakfast!! HUGE shoutout to Brian for creating something that brought both me and my friend a true sense of home
