Great food and service, awesome margaritas! Food is very good too! Gets busy in the afternoon and evening, go early if you can!

Tacos don't just have to be a Tuesday thing and margaritas shouldn't be limited to happy hours. K Macho's serves up the TexMex pretty well and pretty consistently. Your bowl of chips is rarely empty for long (especially for a glutton like me) and meals are delivered hot & ready. It's a big space, and when the place is packed, there is a LOT of service traffic on the floor. Wait times are usually not bad and the tables turn quickly with all of the help happening. The food is good, maybe not great. But it's not far from great and if you ordered something that would be delivered hot, then you can be sure that it will be served VERY hot. A plate of carnitas runs about $16, comes with tortillas, and is served very hot. K Machos makes a sensational traditional carnitas plate, and this is one of those top shelf items to try. If you want a taco salad or standard TexMex plate, then you get the good level. K Machos has a great drink menu and great drink specials. Their house marg runs $10 for the big schooner, or you can get several varieties of fruit in a frozen margarita version. Mango marg, anyone? Service is great, location is great, food is pretty good overall, and the drinks are great. It's definitive worth the stop in Olathe. read more

The service was great. An old co worker picked this place as a good place to get together to celebrate a birthday. Unfortunately I did not care for the food at all. I had the tamales they were dry the refried beans looked as if they were reheated and the tamales tasted as if they were very dry. The piña colada was good. The rice was ok. The food did not taste fresh. I wouldn't come back. The ambiance was good seems like a lot of people like it. I took a to go order to my husband of tacos and he did not care for it. read more

K Machos is normally very great with food and service but had a very poor experience with lunch. Waited 30 minutes for food because the kitchen lost the order (was told their system went down). Waiter had to get our order a second time. Then waited 20 more minutes and no food. I had to go find a manger to get food going. Then Carbon Enchilada I ordered wasn't fresh. The meat wasn't hot. The plate was extremely hot, but not the actual food. So they had to make it again. The manager was very nice and took care of our meal and offered free deserts. I appreciate them doing so but the owners should take notice and ensure their lunch service stays consistent with their dinner service. read more

This was the third time I have come here. I took about a year off. I love the ambiance, but it seems they don't like to modify. I got meat enchiladas without realizing they pack them also with cheese. I let that go the first time. Second time I went, I requested I have no cheese inside the chicken or beef enchilada. Didn't work. It has been a year and we went back tonight. Exact same thing, I asked for no cheese inside the chicken and beef enchilada. I forgot to take photos. I've been going to K Macho's for years now. I hadn't been in a while and dined in with a friend yesterday evening. It was busy but we were able to get seated right away. There were a couple of times when our server disappeared for long periods of time. We understood that it was busy and there were tables that had larger parties. But you notice if you have been sitting for 45 plus minutes and your server hasn't come back around. Luckily, this wasn't during the time of our food coming out but after we had already eaten. Despite this, our server had good customer service. Nevertheless, it's not enough to make me not come back. Food ordered: Torera Chimichanga with side of spinach dip. Carbon Steak Enchiladas. My friend loved that the ground beef in her chimichanga was seasoned well. I love the Carbon Steak Enchiladas. It's my favorite thing to get here. I also love the Espinaca Dip. Drinks: Black Margarita, Peach Moscato Margarita, Strawberry Daquiri, & Lemon Drop Martini. Drinks were good! Bathroom could have used some attention as it had flies. 8/10 recommend! read more

Another great experience! I've said it before, but I'll have to say it again. Everything we tried was SALTY! And everyone at our table seemed to say the same thing. Other than that, I love it! They have two options of salsa, one mild and one medium with great tortilla chips as you sit down. On a Friday night, we had to wait about 45 minutes because it was absolutely packed! But our server did her best and treated us well. **Tip for vegetable lovers** They have a great mix of vegetables I only saw in their vegetable quesadilla, fajitas, burrito, and enchiladas. So I just ask for one of those and they can add chicken for $2! Definitely gives some nice variety to the heaviness that a huge Mexican plate can sometimes be! read more

It's been awhile since I've been to K-Macho's and my first time to this location. Upon entering we stood at the hostess counter for five minutes before a hostess came, who answered the phone before acknowledging us. When she did, though, it was with a pleasant smile. She sat us at a booth and chips and salsa arrived quickly. Our server however, seemed like she really didn't want to be there. While she was pleasant, she wasn't really friendly. She asked what we wanted to drink and we all asked for water and my wife said she wanted to look at the drink menu and decide what margarita she wanted. Our server brought our water, set the glasses down and walked away without a word. She returned 7 minutes later to take our drink orders. She brought our margaritas and we ordered our food which arrived within 15 minutes. We didn't see her again until we had finished our meal and she dropped off our bill, again without a word. When she returned a few minutes later to collect , I told her we would like dessert. She took our order and picked up the premature bill. With dessert she dropped off the amended bill, and I paid. I gave this K Macho's 4 stars for the quality of their food. My Shrimp enchiladas were delicious, the Fajita taco al carbon wasn't as good, but still not bad. Interesting that it was rolled and not folded like other tacos, but maybe I didn't read the description fully. Maybe al Carbon means "rolled" . I'm sure the service isn't always lacking as I noted other servers paying more attention to their guests. read more

My husband has been homebound for more than a year. Now @ KU ICU 30 days. Decided to eat out for the first time in a very long time. Went for an enchilada lunch. K Machos now offers vegetables!!! Went there for lunch and was very disappointed by how much the food has changed. This used to be my favorite place for Mexican cuisine but not anymore! It was so bland that I didn't even bother to take home my leftovers and my mother always taught us not to waste food. My fam & I have been going here maybe once every year or two for the last 10 years? Or whenever they first opened. Really good american tex mex style food. If you want authentic, head over next door to my fave grocery store in olathe. This place used to have multiple salsas which we really enjoyed but that's over with. Still good flavors & good managers. Service is nice (on most occasions). The place is decorated very well! We just web during cinco lunch, it was busy & they had a lil dj booth in their patio area. I really love this place. They have the best steak in my opinion, compared to other Mexican restaurants in the area. It is always so tender and flavorful. Other similar restaurants in the area either have really flavorful steak, but it's tough and fatty, or, tender, but not as flavorful. Can't recommend the fajitas enough, or any dish that comes with the steak. The chicken is always tender and flavorful as well. Never dry or tough. The fresh made tortillas just taste like quality. They are nice size, soft, and don't fall apart. SALSA Full warning, their regular house salsa definitely has a kick, and probably isn't what some people may be used to. They do now offer an awesome creamy green salsa that is very mild and delicious. CHIPS The chips are awesome. Slightly puffy, and the right balance of crispy and sturdy. All the dips are great. This is a great Mexican restaurant to try if you are looking for a good atmosphere, delicious food, and great service. The chips ALWAYS come out warm and fresh and the salsa is the perfect amount of spice. Parking can get a bit busy especially since it is between a grocery store and a hardware store but worse case, you will just have to walk a little bit! The prices are reasonable as well! read more

When I notified the staff that I found a fish bone in my shakira fish meal The server took the item and left without a word. Then she came back and said the kitchen said they would be more careful. Then the manager said "we try but it's fish". Totally unacceptable. I've eaten 2 dozen Shakira fish meals here and this is the only time I've had a bone. Dissatisfied, I told them I wanted to talk with the manager again and he then said can I give you $10 off? What would be satisfactory? Unbelievable.
