My girlfriend, nieces and I decided to drive out of town to try La Cocina tonight. We came on a recommendation from a friend. We of course enjoyed the chips and salsa along with some tasty Guacamole and Queso. The littles got the kids beef nachos and enjoyed them thoroughly. We also ordered the chicken quesadilla, arroz con pollo and three tacos (one asada, one al pastor and one carnitas). The arroz con pollo was great as well as the quesadilla. The chicken had great flavor! The tacos were on the blander side for me. The Asada was the best, followed by the Al pastor and last the carnitas. We just moved to Franklin and so far this is our favorite Mexican restaurant. Friendly and quick service. Delicious food. We had Pollo con Chorizo, kids taco with rice and beans, and enchiladas. Everything was hot, fresh and tasty. Give it try!! read more

They have moved to 912 N Morton. This is the best Mexican food around. The tortillas are delicious (along with the fajitas). Their salsa is also the best. I highly recommend La Cocina! We go there once a week and never tire of it. read more

Idk how they make their chicken and tortillas test the best, but it was noticeable better. Had to wait longer than I was hoping but it was lunch rush, so expected. No no no. Average to below average slapped together Mexican food. Over priced too. The guacamole was not 100% avocado. I think they stretched it with sour cream. It had a washed out pale looking color. The white queso dip was watered down and way too thin. The salsa was above average, but needed a little more zip or heat. The chips were semi warm and tasted semi fresh. They tasted a little on the heavier side. I prefer a thinner lighter chip. The meals were so-so. We all had some kind of chicken configuration. I had chicken enchiladas, and one of my guests had a chicken bean burrito, and the other had a chicken 'quesadilla'. I put quesadilla in quotation marks because it just wasn't grilled properly; meaning the outside of the flour tortilla. It was grilled half ass at best. It was stuffed with too much onion and green pepper. It was more like a chicken fajita. The flavor of the chicken in all of the dishes was tasteless and bland. It tasted boiled and not grilled. The beans tasted older and not so fresh. The rice was plain, lackluster and unimpressive as well. The enchilada sauce was heavy in taste and also from a can. This place is a dime a dozen hole in the wall like most of the 'authentic' Mexican restaurants I have been to lately. It's a real disappointment as it always is, especially considering I noticed that this place had decent reviews on Yelp before I decided to dine there. With only 3 reviews, maybe I should have passed and considered it after a few more reviews. The parking lot was also barren, so maybe I should have considered it a potential red flag. I really do try to give a place a chance, but I suppose my gut feeling was right once again,......and by ignoring it, I learned the same old lesson. But, with that said, I will vow to continue my unrelenting quest in discovering an amazing Mexican restaurant. I just refuse to give up! I guess until I find a Mexican restaurant that simply blows me away, I will continue to make my own. I honestly say I definitely do it better justice. read more

Food is the best Mexican food I've ever had! The carne asada (steak) tacos are amazing! The tomatillo hot salsa is to die for! Ordered Nachos Supremos for delivery via Grubhub, only to find out that La cocina doesn't actually have "chefs". How do I know that? Because a Chef wouldn't even think to put toppings on a nachos order for a delivery order! Nachos = toppings = 5 minutes = SOGGY! Nah not even considering this disgusting place again! I give them two stars because our waiter was quite friendly and made an effort to give my family and I good service, but besides that, this place was not good. We ordered a bean dip appetizer that seemed watered down almost; the beans were very very runny and there was almost no cheese at all on top. The food is very overpriced for how little we got.. My daughter ordered one of their vegetarian plates that comes with a bean burrito and a quesadilla; the bean burrito was runny and nearly empty, and the quesadilla was almost just tortilla and had what looked like cheese sticks half-melted on the inside. Quick service and great food. The lunch specials are great as is the unlimited free chips and salsa. There are a few options for vegetarians (heck yeah!) and the food is pretty standard fare for Mexican restaurants in the area. I've never seen it crowded (mind you, I've only been during lunch) so there is never any wait. read more

I've been coming here for years. I like their food. It's a good break from Taco Bell. So if you think Taco Bell is authentic Mexican food. You might not like this. The people are very nice. Fast service for a sit down place. I've never found their prices to be high. read more

I work nearby. I have gone several times to eat, never had any issues until recently. A friend of mine got double charged on her card. She called and they laughed and said, "look lady, you're wrong." and wouldnt do a thing for her. Today I went over to order some food to-go, was given a total that seemed incorrect. I asked to see what i was being charged for before i gave them my card.. they charged me for chips/salsa since my order was to go. I stated that i have never been charged for chips and salsa before. He stated that it was necessary for to go orders. I came back with, " Can i just not get them? I dont eat them anyways." He said no its necessary. I know its something small, but you cannot make someone purchase something that they dont want. No matter the cost. The guy just laughed and wouldnt do a thing. I will not eat here again.
