Good was very tasty. Service was also good. Our waitress was busy and another waitress was very attentive although we weren't in her area.

I am giving the food a four star review and the actual restaurant a three star. The salsa was wonderful tomatoey, and spicy with a delicious hint of chipotle for a depth of flavor. I had a Deluxe Chalupa and it was good. Hubby had a combo with taco, tamale, cheese enchilada, beef enchilada and a stuffed poblano pepper. The beef had a nice flavor in all the dishes and each was unique. The elephant in the room is the building and atmosphere in the restaurant. It has 10 or 12 tables and it is very small, you go in and sit down and wait for someone to notice you, if you seat yourself in the front room, hang on it may be a while. The wait staff are friendly and the sweet, little old owner was there checking on all the diners. Overall, not unpleasant, but not great. read more

The only reason why I give them 4 stars is because they don't take credit cards and I had to scrape all of our money together to pay for dinner and give a tip. I also didn't see any booze offered. The staff was extremely nice and attentive. The food was decent. I ordered avocado enchiladas and my coworker ordered spinach enchiladas. Neither were amazing, but being from Austin I have high expectations for Mexican food. The chip bowl was endless and the salsa was decent. Being from Austin, I was worried that they wouldn't take my check, but they did with my id. If you find yourself in the area and need a place to stop for dinner, this place works. read more

This restaurant is so delicious! Best Mexican food ever. We always eat here when we are at the Rattlesnake Roundup. I understand there are new owners but the food is still wonderful. This eatery is located the heart of heartburn city! I can't tell you how accommodating these guys were when we were there. We came after a funeral and there were about 20 in our party (this place isn't that big). After 'dining' (and I use the term in its loosest context) at La Cocina there is only one word I can use to describe the experience - VIOLATED. We read the reviews and were excited to get some authentic Mexican on our way through Sweetwater. What a joke. This was hands down the worst Mexican I've had EVER. It might as well have been called plastic cheese with a side of cheese with a side of some dry granules pretending to be meat. The enchiladas were gluey and yet strangely dry. The rice might have passed for something regurgitated by a mummy bird and the beans were a solid layer stuck to the bottom of the plate. If you are looking for fresh, tasty Mexican run far far away from here. read more

I'm honestly confused of how there are good reviews for this place. The salsa was okay but the rest of the experience was awful. I don't understand how a place can make El Patio microwave dinners seem gourmet but this place somehow pulled that one off. The chicken enchiladas taste like and have the consistancy of what you could imagine if the chicken came out of a tube, somehow they even ruined cheese enchiladas. To top it off it took 40 minutes to receive the plates. Luckily we didn't have to pay since we couldn't make it more than three bites in. If this is really the best place for Mexican in town, well, that sucks. Just pick up a microwave burrito from a convenient store and carry on to your next destination. read more

What this restaurant lacks in decor, they make up for in food quality. On a roadtrip through Texas decided to stop and grab a quick meal before we got back on the road.
