Salutables grilled chicken corn tortilla tacos. Lower carb, lower calorie tacos.

While traveling for work, I needed to find someplace convenient to the hotel that offered healthful choices. The corn tortilla chicken tacos and Mexican salad were a good fit for a region of the country that is known for fried foods and "stick to your guts" food. The chicken was a bit dry.

Thanks for bringing a Mexican restaurant back to this location!! And not just a Mexican restaurant but a delicious tasting Mexican restaurant--our entire family would go to this location over 30 years ago when it was El Chico's- it was easily our favorite restaurant. So happy to see it open again with such great service and delicious food. I love the chips because they were not too thick they were thin and homemade they came out often and warm. The salsa is perfectly seasoned. The fajita chimichanga was perfect! - - Great friendly service ! beautiful interior! Definitely will be back often and soon.

This is a new location. There is another location on Airport, and another in Fairhope. You can't go wrong here. I really love their molé chicken, and quesadilla dinners, but I've never had a bad meal here. Service is solid and consistent.

Ended up here for no other reason than it was next to the hotel. Made it in time for $5.00 margaritas, which weren't bad. I ordered the classic burrito, rice, and beans, all of which were tasty. Good service and reasonably priced. Dinner & drinks $22.00

Just had dinner there minutes ago. I sat at the bar. Instead of getting chicken tacos I got beef. I didn't have to say anything about this the discount was automatic. The chips and salsa are super good. The beans are nicely seasoned. I don't like the soggy hard shell but would order again, all the flavor hides there. If staying at a hotel in the area, like me or live here give the place a try. Very good! I would eat here again.

Second time here..this time by myself. I got the shredded beef chimichanga. Shredded beef wasn't listed but I asked and the kitchen made it happen. The beef was seasoned well and tender. My only con is that is wasn't deep fried and I LOVE a crispy shredded beef chimi and it had cheese sauce not red. HELLO!! Service is spot on and the margaritas are excellent. Just good comfort food at a great price. Quickly becoming one of my favorites.

Placed an order of fajitas through Waitrapp, they forgot tortilla shells. The manager, Fabian, didn't resolve the problem.

I know ala Cocina has a pretty good reputation. I scanned the online menu and it didn't take me long to find the birria tacos. It came with two sides. I decided to try the charro beans and Spanish rice. The email I received said my wait would be about 20 minutes. I drove to the restaurant and waited in my car for a bit. When I walked in the restaurant there was someone attending to some tables. The was a sign to ring the bell to get some service but the waitress saw me. I told her that I had an online order and within a few minutes my food was ready. When I got home I noticed there was chips and salsa in my bag as well as the other items I ordered. I didn't realize my meal came with chips and salsa. I guess that's not out of the ordinary but it was a pleasant surprise. Anyway I started with the rice and then with the beans. There was nothing really special with the rice but I don't think I've had charro beans. They seem to be beans with what seemed like vienna sausage. It didn't taste bad. I really didn't know what to expect. On the to birria tacos. The definite star of the show. Being that my food was take out there was some sogginess to the taco shell but the tacos held up pretty good. I dipped the first taco in the consommé (yes, I googled it). It was very savory and the meat was tender. I don't eat a lot of authentic Mexican food but I know what good food tastes like. I definitely would recommend the birria tacos from La Cocina.

The chips are served nice and warm and have a light crunch to them, not overly heavy. Their salsa is just addictive and when you pair it with their queso, it's ridiculous. I ordered the chicken supreme dish I think is what it was called. Chicken breast flattened and nicely grilled, topped with mushrooms and onions and cheese. Serve with rice and beans, I couldn't finish at all, but I surely wanted to. The service was very friendly and attentive, mostly comfortable atmosphere. Loud patrons, a couple boot away, put a damp around things, but that's not really the fault of the restaurant, just inconsiderate, loud patrons. The only issue I have, is when we walked in the place just kind of smelled funky. They had a couple of candles lit, I think to mask the odor. And I really can't say what it was, but it was across between maybe garbage and trash smell. Aside from the unpleasant smell when you walk in, the food and service was on point. I would absolutely come back here for takeout.

Parking was easy for the area and well lit. We were seated quickly and the usual chips and salsa arrived pronto. Salsa was very tasty, likely made in house. Server was prompt with tea refills and attentive to all our needs. Dining room was not overly loud even with a couple of large groups and a kids birthday party in full swing. Nice dinner and dining experience, we will return.

The Boss Hog is a huge burrito that contains slow cooked pork, black beans, and cheese and is topped with pickled jalapeños, ranchero sauce and chipotle cream. It was really good, and splitting it was plenty for me. I also ordered a side of sweet plaintains which are always my favorite. I was glad to see them on the menu.
