I am a fan of the beans but certainly not the space. the coffee is great but a modern coffee shop -heck or even a renaissance one as I am sure the CEO at least knows from his time in Europe- is not just about the coffee. My personal opinion is from a design standpoint, the seating is just uncomfortable and awkward as a few have pointed out. it's not family friendly -not squatting all day, which btw is also just plain arrogant language-. At least one of the baristas can also use some humility, there is no need to be condescending in answering a customer's question carrying his toddler on a weekend after he stood in line for 30 mins! this is the stuff that leaves long negative impression. I will continue to order the beans online or get them from one of the Philly stores -where baristas are actually quite nice- but I am unlikely to be visiting the store anytime soon, certainly not with my young family. read more

This is my favorite coffee shop on the Main Line. The ambience is lovely, and the baristas are polite and professional. The coffee menu is pretty extensive and the coffee is a good blend. It is a tad pricey, but the quality and ambience makes up for it.The pastries are good as well! I love the chocolate chip muffin with a cinnamon crumb on top. They do not have soy milk, but they have almond milk and oat milk for non-diary milk. read more

Some businesses do better than others adapting to COVID. I'm flexible. The lack of a bathroom for customers was frustrating. The level of isolation between me and the order taker was beyond anything I've experienced. But most importantly the espresso and latte drinks my partner and I bought were bad. "Can't finish it so you pour it out" bad. And that's the most important reason to skip this location. read more

I enjoyed my coffee drink, but I don't know what I ordered. When I walked in, I had no idea what their menu was or what they offered. I settled on some cold brewed draft latte drink and it was quite good. I enjoyed the coffee flavors. I then noticed they had some baked goods. I forgot what I ordered, because I was there during their opening week, but they gave me the wrong item. It wasn't that great, but maybe what I originally wanted was? I haven't been back, but I'm open to it. At least they have a great parking lot. read more

Coffee lovers, go here for the draft latte experience if nothing else. The latte's textured and layered like no other coffee drink I've consumed. I don't think the prices are bad either. The latte costs about $3.50. Service is pretty efficient as well. The drawback, as you'll read over and over on here, is the industrial seating. It seems similar to playing uptempo music to rush out clientele. As I type this, my back is already hurting from the low tables and seats. If you're tall, forget about it. Order to go. Otherwise, you'll look like an adult trying to fit into a high chair. If this place does something about the seating, I'll give it five stars. read more

So excited to have an authentic coffee shop on the Main Line (with parking!). The inside is beautiful, the atmosphere is warm, and most importantly the coffee is amazing. I've been here several times and not once has it disappointed. The draft latte is the best latte I've ever had. The food is good, try the ham and butter sandwich - it's a winner. The staff is friendly, the service is quick, and sometimes the lines are long but that's because it's great. read more

Surprisingly unfriendly customer service, coffee temperature was lukewarm, pastries was at least a day old, very disappointing experience.

Great coffee, great atmosphere, respectable prices. I just have a small beef with the customer service. It was mostly OK but we came like 20 minutes before close and they made it very apparent that they were about to close, if you know what I mean. Ordered hot chocolate and was served mocha. When I told the girl I ordered hot chocolate she yelled at the cashier asking her what I ordered as if she didn't believe me. Then after I sat down I found that it was not sweetened. Non sweet hot chocolate??? Really? Then I found out they don't offer WiFi. I threw my drink away and left. 5 stars for the drink! I got a "black and tan" which was surprising and delicious. Unfortunately I can't really recommend this dining experience, as the seating is very uncomfortable and not at all conducive to conversation. Would visit much more often if they had more comfortable seating, perhaps communal tables along the one wall? Much of the seating is very low to the ground, not the best for older adults! This place needs some more love! Firstly, the interior is SO cool. It almost feels like a train station, with the unconventional bench seating in places, and the industrial vibe. True, for the number of colleges in the area, this may not be the best place to study since finding a table could be tricky, but to meet for coffee, it's great! I came on an early weekday evening and found the place very full, but I didn't have to wait long for my beautifully prepared cappuccino. I am usually a boring order, sticking closely to my iced coffee black, but I really appreciated the care and artisan quality of this cappuccino. I'll be back for sure! read more

I'm a big fan of La Colombe coffee. Been buying their beans for years to make in my espresso machine at home. My criticism here is in regard their draft lattes...they're a delicious ripoff. What you get is essentially a cup of foam. By the time the foam settles somewhat, you end up with less than half a cup of lukewarm liquid. This is like ordering a beer and just getting a glass of foam. I don't understand why they can't generate a better ratio. You're much better off purchasing the canned version. An aggressive pour will produce just a small layer of foam. Btw, they ARE delicious! read more

I love the selection of coffees at La Colombe! They have great flavor profiles and their draft coffee is amazingly delicious! They have a great environment in the shop and this is they exact type of place I would want to meet up for coffee with someone or take a book and just read all day at. Its a really classy coffee shop and well worth the trip off of the highway when I am passing by Bryn Mawr. I also buy their beans to make coffee at home and it tastes great as well but I miss the atmosphere of the coffee shop. read more

After 18 years in Oakland, Berkeley, SF area it has been hard to satisfy my transplant longings for that latte that just is on the money. I'd say there is an elite class of cafes with different tastes and attitudes serving up some solid brew and La Colombe might be leading the way. I have been to the Bryn Mawr location 11 times now. Other than my milk sometimes being on the hotter than I like side (makes me take my time I suppose), it's been a great experience every time. Busy or quiet, the staff is always friendly. If you didn't hang out with artsy kids in high school, no one expects you to understand how to now. The coffee is amazing. Sure, there's Stumptown, Love, Sightglass, Ritual, High Wire and Blue Bottle in the Bay Area, but there is something about LaColombe - a caramel finish with rich chocolate notes - that plants it in the upper end of this league. The retail packaging is fantastic and the Draft Latte cans define - DEFINE - prepackaged coffee to go. What LaColombe didn't do is as important as what it did. When 3rd wave coffee roasting broke through in the early to mid 00's, coffee went from oily beans that put hair on your chest (sorry ladies, but it did for me) to some version of dirty tea. We didn't want to harm the beans, only give them a massage and a tan. What this did was introduce flavor notes like grapefruit, lavender, hopes and dreams. There was an inherent smoothness, but it was like serving people used to having an nice porter or stout a pilsner (or worse, a "Golden Stout") and say this is how it was always meant to be. Well, it wasn't. La Colombe went to the dance, heard the music, put on their AkG 701's and began roasting a bean that spanned the gap between old world oily roasts with a bitter finish and the 3rd wave complexities. Maybe they were listening to Joy Division and early New Order to get it right, but it's both darkness and hope all wrapped into one drink. read more

This place would be great if the baristas ever could sort the orders out. There is generally a steady stream of customers, however they NEVER write the orders down for the baristas, they simply try to remember 10 drinks and their order in line. Inevitably drinks get forgotten and you can stand there forever trying to get their attention to remind them of your order. You see them struggling trying to remember and sort out what each order is. JUST WRITE IT DOWN!! Once they make the drink, it is great, and the cafe seating is generally clean and very nice. read more

This is what fine coffee should be. The attention to detail in every cup exemplifies the commitment to excellence to La Colombe has come mean. The foam on their espresso drink is tight and flavorful and nothing like the dirty dishwater you get at Starbucks. The draft latte is simply an inspirational creation whose only downside may be the instant addiction it creates after the first cold and smooth sip. The food is excellent while having a selection that is both familiar and new. To those who complained based on the seating for patrons. This is a high end coffee shop not a communal workspace that allows you to act like a squatter all day long because you paid $3 for a coffee. If you you need to spend 3 hours on your laptop go rent an office or go to the excellent public library that is just down the street. Your coffee shop as an office has either ruined a chance at having a decent seat at other coffee shops or forced establishments like La Colombe to take steps to ensure that you don't ruin their business by driving away paying customers.
