I'm not a coffee drinker so I cannot comment on their coffee. Usually my go to during the winter is hot chocolate. The first time I got a hot chocolate from here I wanted to throw it away. It was so bitter. A couple months later I tried again, thinking maybe something was missing. This time the barista told me their hot chocolate was not sweet, and if I wanted it to be more sweet I could put some syrup they had near by in it. This was after I had ordered it unfortunately. I work nearby and have been there a few times. The coffee is okay but a male server/barista wearing something like a hair kerchief, rushes me every visit. He acts rude and condescending. It's unprofessional. Some training in courtesy customer service is needed. read more

Rude barista. She was curt and snappy. I felt rushed and unwelcome. I spilled my drink at the bar and had no help from the workers. I cleaned it up since it was my accident, but would have appreciated some effort on their part. They did offer to refill my cup, so I was glad for that. I ordered a drip coffee, and it was a bit pricey ($5+ bucks for 12 oz). After the exchange, I felt disheartened, and I wondered if I was the only one with this kind of experience. Great COVID set up, as it feels safe. Nice thing is that you always know what you're going to get at La Colombe. My go-tos are the oat draft latte and the oat black and tan. The only problem with the former is that sometimes it's mostly froth/foam and you're left with a half cup of actual coffee. read more

I used to love this location but it's not of the same quality anymore. I went on my usually weekend stop to get a cold brew with lemon. The barista poured it for me and it was 90 percent bubbles. When I approached them about it they stated that it just needed to clear out but when it did the cup was only 30 percent full. Good coffee, love the atmosphere, nice baristas, a bit pricey. I'm a fan of their draft latte and the Oat Milk Black and Tan for half oat milk latte with half cold brew. Both are creamy and taste super smooth without any unnecessary sweetness. I enjoy the atmosphere for its brick walls, abundant orbs of bright light, large amount of space, and the chill music selection. If you have questions about the menu, the baristas will take the time to explain whatever you asked! A really nice shop. It's bright and open and has a clean look. There's are not a ton of food options but you probably are not coming here for food. I ordered my usual latte and it was very good. La Colombe Coffee is nice and inviting with a generous amount of natural sunlight, spacious seating and a big open layout. A lovely space for socializing, working and/or just enjoying a good book. Based on the reviews, I thought my iced almond milk latte would be amazing. But it wasn't anything close to amazing. It was probably one of my least favorite coffees in DC. In fact, I ended up drinking only 1/4 and throwing out the rest. Prices are a little high. Service was okay. The barista wasn't very friendly. I wouldn't come back again. I have a feeling I'll be spending a lot of money this summer on the draft iced coffee. It's quick to grab and go and the "black and tan" with half coffee, half latte is just the right amount of milk. I've had their mushroom turnover and a kolache from the bakery case. They were pretty good but are overpriced. A coffee and a snack will run you about $9, so beware. Also, I really wish they'd add signs to that case. Sometimes the line is long and the cashier has to go through the options over and over, which isn't super efficient. Space is bright and airy. They could accommodate more tables if they wanted to. It's not a place I'd feel comfortable staying for long. read more

I really like this place. The draft latte is delicious but a bit too creamy for my taste in a cup that big so I usually go for the black & tan, which I think is pretty reasonable priced. I've had pour overs here as well and really liked the choice. Today I decided to try a kolache, which I've never even heard of before and it was so delicious. I mean, wow. But unfortunately at $4 or $4.50, way way way overpriced. It's incredibly tasty but $4 for what is essentially a fancy roll? No thanks. I might get it again because of how good it is but I'll probably only purchase it once in a blue moon rather than the amount I would buy it if it were more reasonably priced. The ambiance is cool and there's always people in the tables working on laptops, which is nice but also means that there is usually not enough seats since 1 person takes up a table for 2, and there's a lot of tables for 2. There's no free wifi offered so I have no idea what all these computer people are doing unless there's some special deal with the WeWork that's next door. read more

Muy delicioso! I literally live blocks from this location but finally had the chance to give it a shot! The tall ceilings, cute lighting, and expansive windows add an element of depth to this place. The servers are phenomenal and are always willing to answer any and all of your questions and even allow you to sample! I got the draft latte which to my stupidity is alcohol-free despite the name and despite the manner in which it was dispensed. They add nitrogen-infused milk to the espresso and it provides this smooth creamy light texture. The coffee doesn't taste or smell too sweet or too burnt. To be honest I could have just drank this without sugar but I felt bad not adding even the smallest oz. of sugar to it. definitely 5 star quality but the price of $3 or so is a little steep for coffee but worth it if you're splurging and only coming here once in a while! read more

The coffee and ambiance are great, and their oat milk lattes are on point. I pick up coffee here often on the weekends and I love it. However, I learned the hard way that they do not have WiFi when I brought my computer to get work done and ordered my coffee "for here," only to have to pack up when I opened my computer to find there was no connection. The staff were very nice to transfer my coffee from a mug into a to-go cup, but it only filled half of the cup (and I'd only taken one sip). Just one of those experiences that didn't really sit well because I left with a half-filled cup of coffee. I work upstairs at the WeWork Manhattan Laundry, and once or twice a week will stop by in the morning to grab a small coffee and a croissant on my way in. I'm not a huge coffee drinker, but even I can tell that theirs is better than Starbucks or Peet's. I haven't been to the nearby Wydown yet, which I'm sure coffee-drinkers/snobs would prefer (it seems a bit more pretentious/high-end/foodie-oriented). I'm not sure which staff members these other reviewers have dealt with, but out of the, say, 10 times I've dropped in by now, I've only had one poor experience, and that was when the barista forgot to give me my croissant, not a terribly big deal, because I just reminded the barista, she apologized, and got it for me right away. I will agree with a couple of the reviews here that there are 2 improvements I think necessary: 1) Make the menu a bit more obvious/bigger for the patrons. 2) Label the items in the pastry display case. They look delicious, but I don't know what they are, and as someone with some food allergies, am afraid to try much more than my plain croissant or pain au chocolat, and don't want to waste the barista's time by making them point everything out to me. This is such a beautiful and bright space for a coffee shop. It also has this effortlessly cool vibe to it...the exposed brick wall (I know it doesn't mean anything for east coasters, but zee exposed brick wall scene is rare in LA alright?)...the cool mural in the back, the cute coffee mugs+matching saucers, and just the area itself. There's this little alley next to it that's shared with a yoga studio, a bar, and WeWork. You can take some IG worthy pics in that alley, I'm serious. My favorite drink to get at La Colombe is their oat milk latte. I've always been an almond milk latte kinda gal until they popped my oat milk cherry here. The pistachio and raspberry croissant is also a must try. I can sit here for hours, reading/working/shopping online, without being distracted or feeling like I've overstayed. The latte I had was amazing even without sugar. The ambience of the coffee shop was appropriate for studying as well as social gatherings. I'm really happy to have a coffee shop nearby even though I don't drink coffee. I do drink tea, though, and I like green tea but I didn't like the one the guy behind the counter recommended (no big deal). I wish they did a chai tea latte, but alas they do not. I also wish they had wi-fi. I respect their decision not to, but between no wi-fi and no chai lattes I'm likely to more often frequent a Starbucks that is further away from me than this La Colombe is. I stop by this location on Sunday afternoon as I had an appointment nearby. I waited in line to ask about the pastries and was told in a not so nice way there were no pastries. I would have purchased a coffee had t he guy behind the counter not been so rude and nasty. It was like he kept repeating that there were pastries because he wanted me to leave. I looked around on my way out of the place and saw there were like two or three black people in the whole place, so I am figuring this is why he acted so crazy and needed me gone. BLUF (bottom line up front): service is horrible and rudely arrogant. There's a lot of other coffee places around the area with same quality or even better products and service. We came in and ordered, and I guess after you pay, the baristas don't really care to show any type of service or consideration to the fact that you just gave them business. After picking up the iced drinks we ordered (very watered down, and has a weird after taste to it), we tried to be kind and say we didn't need the extra things they provided us, but no response or acknowledgement (and no, there was nobody ordering at that time). Okay, not a problem. Still maybe a 3.5 stars with a C-average service (at this point) and C-average coffee for a C-average price. So for a venue that is nice and open, there was hardly any open table that 2 people can just join and drink coffee, so seeing that there was no traffic at all at the spacious bar area that they have, we decided to grab a couple of stools from a table and sit at the end of the bar. The next thing we know, one of the baristas (guy in a blue SnapBack working on a Sunday around 1:30pm) placed (quite forcefully) a plate with a to go cover in front of us. We kindly said we didn't need it. But he answered "oh this is for another customer." The rest of the bar surface area and the front was empty; he could have placed this at another area, but he decided to place it in front of us. So I said, "can we not sit here?" He said in an arrogant tone, "No this isn't for sitting, it's for others to pick up their orders." We came to this shop to cool down and get some coffee, not to be rudely talked to in a passive aggressive manner. If we can't sit there, then just tell us in a kind manner instead of being snooty and silently slam down something in front of us as an indication of 'get the eff out of this counter'. We are paying customers, communicate and treat us with some good service. My main point of this long review, is to talk to the employees and instill the idea that it's a nice idea to treat customers with respect and communicating with them isn't too horrible to try read more

The prices are great and the atmosphere is hipster and open, maybe a little too social feeling for me. I've only had the draft latte and the staff seem okay, but didn't seem too friendly or excited about engaging in a conversation.
