The best local clothing store for kids! I always find exactly what I need. I've purchased full snow gear, the cutest Easter and Christmas outfits. As well as special occasion dresses for my little girl along with adorable sweaters, button downs and polos for my little boy. They always have what I am looking for! I called (during business hours) to confirm they were accepting clothes. It went to VM which simply said we buy Tues/Thurs. Since it was a Thursday, I spent over an hour going through my sons clothes, packing up what could be sellable and then drove to the store (20 min drive) just to find out they are only buying ski clothes. I recently stopped by the newly revamped La Costa Kids resale boutique and was so impressed I wanted to share my experience! As a mom of three boys, finding affordable, durable, and on trend clothes can be a challenge. I was immediately impressed by the selection. I used to struggle finding anything my son would like but with new ownership they now have a wide range of high quality, stylish boys' clothing with brands the teenagers are wanting. Everything on the racks was in excellent condition and clearly pre-screened for any stains or wear and at such great prices. The items were in like new condition so I was able to wrap as Christmas gifts! They also had so many NWT beautiful, high end baby items and even hand painted cards. I was able to purchase two "new baby" gifts - cards and all. I'll definitely be back soon and look forward to the treasures I'll find next time. read more

This store is a gem! We were able to sell a few items, and they were very fair and generous with store credit. The store itself is well-organized and easy to shop. They literally stole my $100 items, claimed to have text me twice (never did) they claimed to have donated it. Never work with this corrupt business! What a horrific experience. Also their clothes aren't even priced well. *Edit* the response from the shop below is inaccurate. Anyone who knows me knows I am the sweetest and most professional person. It is actually the shop that began an immediate verbal assault when I called inquiring about my item saying things like "it's your fault" and "oh well" versus even apologizing. All before I could aay anything. I never said a mean word. I asked if they were being human, or being extremely rude and she of course could not answer. The store clerk began berating me and saying she would take pictures (which by the way I never received) about a number they claim I wrote is incorrect. I refuse to be both abused verbally, gaslit and slandered online with false accusations. Thank you for more evidence. I appreciate the quality of clothing and shoes at La Costa Kids. They are discriminating when it comes to accepting clothes but that is what buyers like me want. This is a high quality consignment establishment, and the owner keeps her standards accordingly high. Sellers need to understand that. The owner helped me with several items of clothing and explained some of the brands, fabrics, and answered all my questions about her inventory. I found her to be very pleasant and helpful. We love this place! They are so friendly and helpful that we come here first when the kids want to shop but mama needs to save money! I bring my best hand me downs and always have a great selling experience. I've rarely taken store credit at other consignment stores but I do it every time here because I know we will use it. Outerwear, snow boots, sports clothing, dressy clothes, American Girl goodies...this is always our first stop. Robin the owner is fantastic and really cares about her customers. She's texted me directly regarding some items I was selling and I really appreciated her attention to detail. I see some negative reviews here and I have to say I've never had anything but wonderful experiences buying and selling with her staff. Wow!!! What a gem and a blessing this place is! So much beautiful snow gear at wonderful and reasonable prices. I bought tons of snow gear (bibs, jackets, snow shoes, helmet, goggles) for my kids!. They have wetsuits at great prices and beautiful clothing and shoes as well! So grateful to have stepped into LaCosta kids. I will definitely be coming back for future snow gear and Wetsuits. So grateful to be sharing this review... We were in town for Halloween & Needed a last min costume for my daughter and didn't want to spend some unnecessary amount. Was able to score a brand new costume in my daughter's size. Outside of the store had racks of costumes all sizes. Inside there were so many new and gently worn clothing, shoes, etc. It was quite busy with sellers and seemed like only one employee present. A couple of clarifications: 1. Using my full name is against yelp rules and I have reported your comment. You know these rules and did this on purpose. Yelp should have a penalty box for businesses that respond to poor reviews by calling out private information and insinuating race had something to do with it. it's Against the safety rules of Yelp and is NOT OK on many levels. It's gross and ridiculous, and irresponsible. 2. "Side eye" has NOTHING to do with race and is a noun and located in a dictionary. Here is the definition since you don't know this term or have access to a dictionary: Oxford dictionary: "side eye - noun meaning a sidelong glance expressing disapproval or contempt." My review mentions nothing about race and was a culmination of years of awkward and weird interactions with a melting pot of individuals that I finally felt compelled to post to help others. Simple as that. 3. The entire point of yelp is to post honest reviews, otherwise, what's the point other than a fake advertisement for businesses? I've left 95 reviews since joining yelp. The overwhelming majority are 4 and 5 star (65 of them) and only 14 are 1 star and most of those are years old. I've even updated one from a 1 to a 5 when I gave them another chance and over time they earned back my business. Your response is the exact gross vibe I was trying to convey in my original review. Maybe if you're a struggling COVID business you should treat your longtime sellers a bit better to avoid the review in the first place vs put it on them and gaslight them for things that have Nothing to do with their review. read more

What a ROTTEN experience. I don't like writing bad reviews, and I rarely do but this last experience? DESERVES ONE. The experience that was just had there was DISGUSTING. The tone and the way the staff treated us was downright AWFUL. In the MOST UNPROFESSIONAL way possible, we were told that the brands we brought in were not on the approved brands list in a snotty, horrible condescending tone. Which is fine, I guess. But, when we asked what brands they accepted? We were told to "walk around the corner, get our phones out and check the website". Just too busy to help out I guess? Holy moly simply NO. Don't shop here, don't visit here, there are more considerate polite places to do business. NEVER AGAIN. read more

I've been coming here for the past few years since I had my daughter, I tend to buy from Instagram shops, or other branded companies. It's been very nice to have a place to find these brands, without having to pick through bins with other brands. They are very strict with the buying policy, a few times I've brought clothes back that my daughter didn't wear that I purchased weeks prior that they wouldn't buy back because it "wasn't in guidelines", although this is frustrating the brands are still worth enough to post on another website and get your money back. I found this place to be a great resource! We drove down from Oceanside; the traffic was heinous so by the time we arrived there were only 15 min to close. The lady warmly directed us to the size we needed, opened the dressing room and let us stay a bit past closing time with no pressure as she cleaned up. And I cleaned up too! In clothing, that is. We bought 4 dresses, a pair of leggings, a skirt, a super cute pullover hoodie and a pair of shoes for $81. All good brands, some still with tags. The store is arranged well; items are easy to find. There's a good bit of dance clothing options, and a good mix of new things in with gently worn. I'll go back, even though it's like a 45 min. drive, because I know it'll be worth it. read more

Unfortunately this store has really gone down hill. They used to have a ton of cute clothes at a great price, now I visit the store and nothing catches my eye. Also as others have mentioned, the owner is not very friendly. My friend gets all her daughter's clothes at Nordstrom and has every brand sold at the store but when she went to go sell her items, the owner quickly went through them and of about 30 things, she offered to buy 3 for a total of $10.50 store credit?? She rudely told my friend a few things were a bit faded so she didn't bother looking through the rest of the bag. La Costa Kids is an upscale resale shop where you can find used children's clothing at great prices. The owner only buys designer brands and all the clothes are carefully inspected prior to her buying them. None of these clothes have stains or are damaged. I know, I've tried to sell her many. The place is always busy as well so stuff moves quickly. They also carry one of a kind pieces that are new as well as toys and used baby strollers. read more

Cute store but kind of pricey. Some items were not in the best condition either and prices kind of all over the place from fair to really out there, especially for what you are getting. Selection is limited to mostly clothes, shoes and small items so they did not have what i was looking for. I feel bad for the blonde woman who buys the kids' items. She seems to dislike her job very much and I suspect this is the reason why she acts crabby and rude. I imagine if I had to repeat the same thing over and over again about what clothes are acceptable and which are not, as well as going through mountains of clothing all the time, I would probably also feel the same way. Having said that, this is a business that very much thrives on customer service and it doesn't reflect well when you feel like you are being reprimanded for not knowing what the old labels of Gap and Abercrombie and Fitch look like versus what the new labels look like. I just had a horrible experience with the owner. I've been going to La Costa Kids for 10 years. She's not polite and always wants to tell you what's wrong with the clothes you have. Additionally, she has a new policy that if there's a brand she doesn't take, they won't continue to go through your bag. That is crazy and not necessary. If you don't want it, just don't take it. I am surprised by the great reviews of La Costa Kids. I came here to check out the selection of baby clothes/items, and was less than impressed. The selection was extremely sparse, basically 1-2 small bars of baby girl clothes, and nothing was very unique. Some of the items looked quite worn, and a lot of others just weren't very cute. Maybe I'm overly picky with baby clothes, but I could only find 1 item that I liked here. On top of that the prices weren't anything great, I got 1 used babyGap dress for about $5, but if you go to the babyGap outlet you can regularly find new items in the same price range or for just slightly more. The worst part about my visit was that there were two ladies working there, well one was about to leave for the day. They were so busy socializing and chatting that they did not even greet me when I entered (I was the only person in the store). After browsing for about 5-10 minutes without any acknowledgement from either of them that I was even in the store, I had selected 1 item to purchase. I approached the register, and the woman working there continued to chat with the other employee who was leaving! Seriously she did not even offer to ring my purchase up! I had to say "excuse me, are you able to ring this up?" To add insult to injury, I had to ask for a bag, she just handed the item back to me (not even folded). Not a great experience. Poor selection, not great pricing, awful service and I would never return here. read more

I like this store a lot but the owner/ buyer is soooo nasty rude! I bring things in there and watch while she verbally slams every customer that comes in to sell their stuff. She's picky and that's ok.. just so cold and rude to the poor ladies who walk in there hoping to sell their gently used kids clothes. And don't bring the WRONG brand names! Oh heavens! Most of us have no idea what brands come from what stores. I have seen this behavior everytime I walk in there. She acts like she's so put out to have to go through the items that have have possible stains...but yesterday I brought items on hangers! OMG! "I prefer no hangers". Great find in Encinitas. I needed snow clothes for my daughter and son and found everything I needed to go to Big Bear. Found Kamik boots and an Obermeyer jacket in great condition, would have paid a fortune if I bought it new. Nice woman helping me, will definitely be back. read more

The discover of local kids consignment shops has been a great find for us. I like that they are curated and that only the good, name brand stuff is on the shelves. I don't need to see a pile of Carters clothes that everyone has gotten at their showers, I want to see the Ralph Lauren and Hurley stuff that I don't want to pay full price for new for. And La Costa Kids has it. They are also competing with Platypus Kids, and are falling short in the areas of toys, books and atmosphere. La Costa Kids space is dark, cramped and limited in square footage, but they make the most of what they've got. We have found some great clothes at a good price here. read more
