I've been shopping at La Costa kids for 4 years now, and I absolutely love this place! They always have the cutest clothing and shoes for my daughter, that you wouldn't be able to find anywhere else for such a great price. Often times they will have BRAND new clothing from reputable brands (That might be from an older season). I've never had an issue with the owner or any employees, and I've sold here often. So not sure if other older reviews were isolated incidents, or misunderstandings? This is an upscale clothing store, and they sell high end brands that you'd often find at stores like Nordstrom. So if you're looking to sell brands that you'd find at Target or Kohls, I'd recommend a store like Baby Exchange in east county. At any rate, highly recommend to check out La Costa Kids, I am addicted to this place! read more

I think I've finally had it with this place. Not only is the clothing overpriced for preowned children's items, the buyer I interacted with today was rude and unpleasant. She acted annoyed that a few items had very light stains that I didn't see. She lectured me fairly loudly about being more careful not to bring in anything with stains and also how current things must be. I don't need to be spoken to in that manner by anyone. And then after her lecture, my son found a pair of boots he wanted that had a ton of sand in them, and the pair of snow boots in his size was covered in mud. So much for standards! With so many resale options in the area, this place isn't worth he stop. read more

I love this cute boutique type classy kids store! I have purchased many baby shower and kids gifts here. They have a large selection of various items including high end gently used diaper bags (Nordstrom s etc), and a ton of trendy children's clothes. Also have brand new clothes as well. One of my favorite purchases has been a pair of practically brand new Ariat cowboy boots for my 4 year old nephew. They were in perfect condition and such a great price. Staff and owner have always been friendly, professional, and happy to help also answer questions. :) read more

The cashier was very nice but the selection was super limited and it was almost full price considering the sales/coupons. I paid ~10 ea for pants for my infant and I would have paid close to that at baby gap and gymboree with their sales. I did like that they were picky with the brands just because the space is so limited (it's just a really small store). Not a lot of things besides clothes at all. read more

La Costa Kids is my favorite neighborhood kid's store - and I don't even think of it as being resale except for the fact that the prices are terrific. They also have a great selection of accessories that are made by local moms - such as hair bows, head bands, darling little purses, and fun lunchbox items. I've always been successful in finding what I need and then some, and I'd rather shop here than at one of the big chains. Check it out - for your own kids or for gifts. Im not someone who writes alot of reviews, yes, i do read them quite often tho. But after reading some of these reviews for the San Marcos store, I may divert my attention to other local kids consignments now. From a mom who enjoys buying second hand for upscale labels, as little ones do not put much wear and tear into them (which allows me to buy more), I will go into kids consignments. This store was recommended to me, but after I saw the review in regards to the owner buying from a mom that buys to sell to the store from garage sales, i will not be going into this store now. Just knowing now, that the owner and a "friend" so to speak, do this often, i find myself just sticking to yardsales as well. Why in heavens name would i pay marked up clothing at a consignment, when I can find the same stuff at "yardsales" myself?? Whether or not, the mom was aware to the owner making such comments about her "yardsale finds" to the kid, which i find to untactful and poor business to say it loud enough for another customer to overhear. I will go into other consignments, and skip this one....I really think that the owner "Jennifer", shouldve thought about reprocussions before she had diarrhea of the mouth. Just my two cents. Like any place with used clothing, it all depends on how lucky you are- but I like the quality and organization. We've found many awesome items for my 2 year old here, and the price is usually great for the brands. We always go when we're nearby. read more

I was far from impressed by this store. I went in with my 10 month old to check it out while waiting for some food I'd ordered at a restaurant in the same shopping center. The woman behind the counter didn't greet or acknowledge my presence whatsoever. (She did however greet others and make small talk with them, so who knows what that's about.) Also, I noticed quite a few of the clothes were incredibly worn out. Things I wouldn't even accept as hand-me-downs let alone actually pay money for. I don't think I'll return. read more

Love La Costa Kids. They have the most beautiful clothes- at a such reasonable prices. Every one is really helpful. I went in to the store to get something for my son. I also had some things to sell. The buyer doesn't buy clothes unless they are in pristine condition. She is firm, but sweet. She is choosing the absolute best for the store- glad for that, because I shop there too! I discovered this place right after I had my daughter. On first glance it looked awesome. They have great saucers, strollers and carriers. I was excited to trade some things in for store credit. The owner is nice but very stuck up when coming to buying. They only buy 1 type of baby carrier-the ergo. they "passed" on brand new tagged clothes because they weren't high end enough. they don't do Carters. Kinda bummed. I wont be going there anymore. I love this store and always find great things and a great value, BUT, she supposedly buys back the things you buy from her store, and I've taken bags in, and she took some of my stuff, but ironically NOT what I bought from her. This is the best place in all of North County to buy babies and kids clothes, all of the clothing is clean and current styles, very cute expensive nice cotton clothing at very cheap prices, lots of girl/boy clothes to choose from in every size, really good boy clothes too, (which is hard to find) The owner Sara has excellent taste, and I can allways find tons of stuff to buy, she also has really really cute maternity clothes too. We love this place! My husband loves that I can sell them our used baby clothes, receive a store credit and get our boys new stuff (technically used stuff that looks new!) without spending top dollar at all the stores I like to frequent. Sara carries all the popular, trendy and cute lines and everything is in amazing condition. I usually frequent the San Marcos location, but decided to give this one a try when I was in the area. I was really excited to check this place out because I had had some really good finds at the other location. Unfortunately, I spent less than 5 minutes in this place...and that's not a good sign for someone like me who LOVES to shop for my daughter. First off, I felt that they didn't have a huge selection for my daughter's age group. There were some items, but they seemed WAY overpriced...especially the shoes. I took a look at some generic-looking outfits and when I saw how much they were, my jaw visibly dropped. At the time, the San Marcos store had not only a better variety, but MUCH better prices (different ownership too, I think). This place charges too much for their resales, in my opinion, and I can easily buy brand new in the store for this much or less. That's a bit frustrating since I really wanted to like this place. Unfortunately, the San Marcos location's price have gone up a lot recently, too, and almost match the prices of this location. Double bummer! read more

Can't say enough good things! This is the ultimate second hand shop for children, clean, they only buy like new items, and you don't feel like you're shopping second hand, it's so organized and clean. I find everything I need for my kiddos here for much much less than retail. This is absolutely the best place to get affordable clothes in great condition. The New owners are a really nice family who treats there customers really well. Mariann is especially so kind and inviting. The employees are very helpful and are happy to be working there, you can tell! I would recommend La Costa Kids to everyone with children. read more

This was my first consignment store for kids and I was very disappointed in the variety and price of the clothing. The clothing definitely looks used and washed out...expected for a consignment store. But if this store prides themselves on an upscale retail store with name brand clothing. I would expect lower prices for the quality of clothes that they have. I noticed that much of the prices are equal to the brand's regular price, i.e. Babylegs and Itzy Ritzy. You're better off shopping for sales at retail stores or discounted websites like Zulily. La Costa Kids is clean, well organized, and has ok customer service, hence the "two-stars". I am looking forward to checking out Love Child, for I heard they have a lot of variety for great prices. read more

I have tried RESALE shops all over town. This place gives the highest % for GOOD, QUALITY, NAME brand clothing. They also give CASH or Credit to the store....and the cash % is great! What a relief since I spend so much money on clothes! They also sell new items at a discounted price. Definitely worth the drive from any part of town. Make sure you call ahead to find out buying hours and get there early to be the first 10 on the list. read more

You can definitely find some really cute stuff here at times, but the customer service turns me off completely. I've been here a few times already and I always encounter snooty sales girls who are totally rude. Last time I went in it was to sell some excellent condition clothes and gear and she looked at my stuff with a stuck up annoyed attitude that I would even attempt to sell my non-designer items to them. She wouldn't even take them to donate! They are loosing customers with staff like this. read more

Ok for buying but they don't have a huge selection, no maternity at all, and they offer pennies if you're trying to sell back (I had $90 worth of items and they offered me $7). The women who were going through the potential sell back items were very rude and snooty, telling me my items were "stained" (they absolutely were not) and making faces and responding "ew no!" when I so much as asked if they bought nursing pillows or play gyms. My experience was not great. They seemed to have better reviews than other places but honestly to me this place is no better than once a upon a child in Oceanside. When I came in I wasn't sure where to sell my things as there was no signage and no one greeted me at the door. a customer kindly told me the employee was in the back. I proceeded back there when the women informed me they do not buy books or plush, okay. I asked if I could pick them up when I picked up everything else. She said "no not really it makes it heavy for us to lift and as you can see we don't have the space". She told me someone would call me the next day to let me know my items were done. Thursday comes no one calls. By 1pm on Friday I called them to see what was going on as my things would be donated if they were not picked up by close on Friday. They said they were working on them. A few hours later I get a phone call from them, no voicemail. I drove from San Marcos to Encinitas to pick up my money and items for a whopping $2.80 for a gap onesie we paid $45 for and something else she didn't disclose. I honestly think this place is poorly managed and wouldn't sell here. I tried shopping and the selection was terrible. Not something I would go out of my way to see. read more

This best resale kids store that I've been to in San Diego. Lots of nice, seasonal clothes and shoes. Usually, I've been able to find great items here. Sometimes selection is spotty but if you go frequently then there's more opportunity to find stuff and get great deals! Recently got a Kettler Trike for my son. The owner and staff are real nice and I've both bought and sold at the store. read more

Great store!!! Just discovered it when I was looking to buy a BOB stroller. I got a great deal and the customer service is awesome!!! I just had an issue with my BOB and the owner called right away and looked it over. Everyone from my daughter play groups talks so highly of this place , so I was so excited when I got to go seeing its far from my house and I just happened to be in the area .its very cute and well organized but I couldn't get my head around the prices the baby resale in Santee sell the same brands but two or three dollars cheaper .it was a little two expensive for my taste. read more

This store was such a wonderful new find in Encinitas!! I am a Grandparent for this first time and decided it was time to check out this cute little store. All the children's clothing was in great condition and very good brand names. The prices were Super!! The best thing about this store is that there is not a lot of junk to sift through. they've already done that for you. This is by far my favorite child consignment store in San Diego!! I will drive 45 minutes to visit this place. I always find more than I'm able to spend at the time. They have cute, name brand clothes and shoes which is what I always buy. They are well organized and my daughter can play by herself in the back kiddie area blocked off with toys. Don't waste your time. I brought in clothes from Quiksilver, Tommy Hilfiger, Justice, Hollister, Abercrombie & Fitch and more that the kids had barely worn or were actually never worn because they were too small when we bought or received them -- some still with tags and stickers on -- but they were all rejected -- reason given "Wear". How can clothing show wear when it had never been or barely been (1-3 times, no stains or anything)? And selection of clothes that made it to their racks was not impressive and very limited in number. I wouldn't waste my time either selling in or buying at this store. I have donated all the name brand new clothes to the gardener's kids from Mexico. Too bad for this store. But at least I might save someone else the trouble of visiting! read more

Absolutely, love this place. I will never pay retail prices again. It always pains me to pay so much for the name brand stuff - but I love name brands!! This is the place to shop to get cool stuff for a fraction of the price. I bought an almost brand new Baby Bjorn (with the back support) for only $70 - retails for $130!
