Go here! The vibe at la costa was very fun, it was crowded with a really fun vibe. The server brought out chips, salsa and beans. The salsa was great, very spicy and the beans were even better. Our server was very attentive even in a busy bar with large groups. My food and drinks came out impressiveley fast. I ordered the Caribbean Margarita (gigante size!) and it was delicious. Tasted like sitting by the pool. For food I ordered the Pollo La Costa.. Holy crap it was amazing and an huge amount of food. The sauces and seasoning tasted very authentic. I'm so happy I found this place! It's a little hidden off the main drag in burien and I will 100% be back. Food is usually always consistent! However, this visit was not so inspiring. I ordered the Chicken Nachos and when they arrived at first they looked delicious. Now i know one os the main ingredients is cheese, but there was so much cheese that I couldn't eat them. It was a pile of greasy cheese which made the chips soggy. After spending an afternoon in Seattle some friends and I decided that some Mexican food was in order. It was also on a weekend where downtown was super busy and super crazy. So when we wanted to get something to eat we decided to make some distance between us and the city simply because of the fact that there would likely be a wait at every restaurant that we went to. I remembered I had some bookmarks in Burien and we brainstormed to what came up as the most highest rated Mexican restaurant in that town. Luckily it was one on my Yelp bookmark list as well. Killing to birds with one stone! When we arrived at La Costa we were seated immediately. The service was friendly and fast throughout the whole meal. However for a table of four I thought our it was a bit small. It seemed like we did not have much for elbow room and when the large plates of food came out it made the table even smaller. That would be the only complaint about my experience here. The chips, salsa and warm bean dip that we started out with was a delight. I ordered two beef enchiladas along with rice and beans. The whole plate tasted great and the beans did not taste artificial like they sometimes do with platters like this. There was a generous portion of guacamole and pico de gallo that made the dish even more enticing. Definitely a great meal with large portions and an authentic flavor. read more

This is the best Mexican restaurant south of Seattle. Service is fast. Even though it's a fast paced, high turnover restaurant, the wait staff are very friendly. One server in particular is exceptional as she has my drink ready when she comes to take my order. The food is great here. I ordered the borrega dish. The lamb shank is very flavorful and moist. I enjoyed my visit to La Costa. The greeter let us sit where we wanted and our server made some excellent suggestions. The combo 1 plater was massive, as well as, tasty. My prawn and Carne Assada plate contained everything I expected except guacamole. Even the refried beans, chips & salsa were excellent & I'm not usually impressed with the refried beans. I gave this two stars because I used to love this place but now that I know they serve raw shrimp that could make people sick then lie about it to their guests thinking they don't know. It could have gotten me so sick and I am not stupid. I know how to cook and I know what raw shrimp look like. The server had the audacity to tell me that is how tiger shrimp look when they are cooked which is a LIE!!!!! Thank goodness I'm not gullible because I could have gotten food poisoning if I would have eaten that!!!!! I like their other dishes but the blatant lack of concern for patrons safety makes me question what other unsanitary practices they have. What a disappointment. Great customer service! We went here on New Year's Day and they were open. And it was packed! Despite the massive amount of hungry customers we were spotted and seated right away! The within minutes the waiter took our order. Crazy how fast they move when it's so busy!!! I got the crab enchilada and it was good! Huge portion, retried beans with cheese, mexican rice, and two crab enchiladas with slices of avacado and scoop of sour cream. It was so big that I couldn't finish it but I loved their service. Loud irrating and no one was watching it! We waited for the waiter to return so we could ask him to turn it off. After another ten minutes my husband saw the remote laying near us so he turned the TV off. The waiter appeared immediatly and turned the TV on again seemingly louder. This time he took the remote with him. We are now the only customers in the entire restuarnt. My husband flagged down the waiter and asked him to turn off the TV. The waiter look shocked we did not want the TV blaring above our heads. He said oh okay - just turn it down? We both said no, turn it off. The waiter then turned down the volume and walked away. Great fresh mexican food, yummy horchata, GREAT SERVICE. I was greeted immediately and sat down right away. My son and I had lunch there. I ordered him a kids burrito, it came out wet, and I didn't know and I tried feeding him but he didn't want it. I hated to ask for something else but I did and got my son the chicken quesadilla with fries and HE LOVED IT. I myself had the Borrego and it was outstanding, I have always had this dish at Azteca and its delicious there too, but here it had that extra touch to tell me it was prepared differently because its likely made in smaller batches than Azteca. I think this is the best mexican restaurant I have been to in Seattle. Honest truth, I have been to smaller taquerias, Azteca, Acapulco, etc. I want to check out their mariachi nights one of these days with my husband I will update you about the bar drinks then and the music. The atmosphere and location might turn you away because its a little worn out, but dont let that fool you because its a really good place! I would have thought about another star but just coming from Lindo Michoacan Mexican Restaurant in Vegas last week there is big difference to bump up to that level. I was happy with the spinach enchilada I ordered. The bean dip with the nachos at the table is awesome. The menu is huge though I think the layout could be better to help make choices and the web site version is terrible. La Costa is solid Mexican restaurant with great drinks, great service, and a good history in Burien. As a point-of-reference La Costa and Azteca serve very similar food, in terms of style. However, in terms of execution, I'd give it to La Costa. The menu is a bit more expansive, it's not as expensive, and the food is a little better. The chips are light, crispy, and salty; the Salsa is fresh; the drinks are refreshing and strong; the plates are huge and the food just taste good. So this place definitely isn't as good as Mexican food you'll find in the southwest but it's pretty darn tasty. For what I've had in the Seattle area, it's awesome. The portions are *huge* on most items so be prepared to have to-go boxes. I got a Chalupa combo (though the shells were hard and I've always had soft-shelled chalupas which kind of made me angry but whatever) and the chalupas were bigger than the to go boxes. I probably could have had 3-4 meals out of what was on my plate. The service seems pretty good and speedy. People may not come back and ask if anything is okay but your drink is always full and your waiter is frequently nearby. Oh and what amused me is if you don't like Mexican food but end up at this place they have a small "USA menu" on the back that includes a cheeseburger and the like. I would have to say this is my favorite Mexican restaurant, and the service is right on point. We ordered: Chicken Chalupa and Chile Relleno Combo with beans and rice ($10.25) - It was hugeee, the plate is like twice the size of an Azteca plate. The Chulupa is about 2.5 x bigger than a Taco Bell Chulupa and the Chile Relleno is devine and delish as always. I loved it. Pozole (Soup) - HUGE bowl, delish with the hominy and the tortillas that came on the side. ($9.95) I LOVE that they have bean dip along with the salsa. I am sad. Sad I'm writing this review right now but I had such a terrible experience here a few days ago that I just can't leave people believing this place is the shit It's not. Sprint to fuckin Taco Bell I promise you that your experience will be superior. So firstly, he never asked us if we wanted drinks. He was out of breath and ran to our table to take our order and left. When we ordered he didn't even look like he was writing it down. Idk if he was drawing a pic of unicorns or some shit but I honestly believe he wasn't writing our order down.. Anyway he also never brings us more chips and salsa and beans, never checks on us. When he brings the food out, he brings my husbands fajita out first, AND DISAPPEARS until ten minutes later with my parents food and mine. But my son's enchilada? Houdini never brought it. We were done with our meals before he came over to check on us and then it must've clicked and he ran to get him his kids meal... nah fam too late But get this He also put PIPING HOT plates and sizzling ones directly in front of our baby. He expected us all to grab our own meal I guess? But he set the plates all at the head of the table (where our son was). Like no care in the world, no warning. He is surely familiar with tiny little fingers instantly grabbing at food. He's so lucky we are fast and observant and familiar with "hot plate hot plate" at restaurants because that is a super dangerous move Oh yeah and, the best part, we were charged for my son's meal that was brought to us a half hour late after everyone else had finished. This place was awesome! Went here for dinner with my girl and wasn't disappointed. Friday night we had the lamb and the steak fajitas. The meals were extra large portions and the drinks were pretty stiff! Also come on Fridays when they have a live band and they played mariachi music, which both of us enjoyed totally! I ordered a combination plate with a taco, enchilada and tamale. We've always said if the plate has orange cheese on it, RUN! Guess what? This plate was covered with preshredded and bagged orange cheese! Bleck!!! Think about it, when you go to the grocery store and look in the Mexican cheese section, DO YOU SEE ANY ORANGE CHEESE????? NO!!!! It's just not natural. A little cotija cheese could go a long way. There was soooo much of it that the grease pooled on the plate. Now, the Mexican restaurants we frequent have various sauces for various items. Tamales have nice rich dark sauce and enchiladas have enchilada sauce. Not here. All the food had this tasteless light colored sauce on it. I had to ask for several bowls of the salsa to give it flavor. The taco. It was in a premade shell. Like the kind from Taco Bell. The beans and rice were pretty tasteless too. I was so disappointed because I was really hungry and wanted a good meal.
