One of the few restaurants I would recommend to others and even fewer that I go back to regularly. La Costita feels like an authentic Mexican restaurant that sets itself apart from your typical run-of-the-mill Mexican restaurants by offering its own specialty dishes and unique takes on classic favorites while still serving familiar options for those of us who may be a little less adventurous. Although the wait can be long at times, the staff are always friendly and communicative. I've visited many times and have never had any issues. The Tacos Tijuana are a perfect example of just how good the food is--extremely simple, yet balanced and delicious. The shrimp in the Surf & Turf is some of the best I've ever had. I even enjoyed it reheated, which says a lot. The Enchiladas Mexico are excellent on their own and an even better way to enjoy the many sauces La Costita has to offer. The Burrito Costita Especial looks just as good as it tastes and is my personal favorite entrée. Last but not least are the Taquitos. They're something special and have kept me coming back for years. I seriously cannot recommend them enough--they're unlike any taquitos you've ever seen or had. read more

Quite surprised to see the rating. We have eaten here previously and found the food quite good. Last night it was packed - obviously a whole lot of people don't read Yelp reviews. We chose it because they stayed open later and we were hungry. I thought my wife's two enchilada's were over-priced for what she got. She liked them, but they really aren't all that big. So I lowered my rating by a star. My Burrito Costita Especial was great, and massive. Well worth the price. Stuffed full with some very tasty carne asada. The sauce was good but too mild for my liking. they gave me some of their house hot sauce and warned me it was extremely hot. I ended up smothering the burrito with it and found it closer to medium spicy, but made the burrito excellent. I really enjoyed it and had to bring some home with me it was such a full meal. At least for us we both found the lower rating for the restaurant to me a surprise. But then it is clear you might need to try various offerings and find one that fits your own taste - as I said, my wife found her enchiladas just fine where I would have been disappointed. One thing I did notice is in the past we were offered multiple baskets of chips and salsa. Last night it was one and that was it. We've been coming here for years, but the service has gone down some since COVID. Starting with the negative... it's not uncommon to get a takeout order wrong, which is a concern. Check your takeout order before you leave. That said the food is exactly what you'd want from Mexican food. I love the Enchiladas Mexico and our entire family loves the side of rice and beans. There isn't a menu item that "wows" you. But it's all very solid for a quick easy Mexican dinner night. This is our go-to spot for close-by Mexican food but it probably wouldn't be worth a long trek. Went on a Saturday evening at 5pm. Sat at the bar. Server recommended a Strawberry Coconut Margarita. We ordered it to try it out. We ordered a spinach quesadilla and spinach burrito. So healthy and delicious. Complementary tortilla chips with the yummy food. The strawberry coconut margarita came to table and it was so pretty. And it tastes amazing. Not too sweet, just delicious. La Costita is a local Mexican food chain and it delivers the "classic" Mexican food in the US experience that I've enjoyed and periodically crave for the last 25+ years. Service is quick. Plates and foods are HOT. While no dish was memorably different or "crave-worthy", everything I ate hit the mark of what I expected, and when you are craving this style of Mexican food, that's all I could ask for. The restaurant had a 90s charm of "Mexican" decor. Nothing square-line, simple, modern, or industrial here. I also have to hand it to them that their prices, especially for kids plates, are pretty affordable. About $15 for many entrees. We fed 4 adults and 2 kids for $85 (before tip) with another 2-3 lunch portions taken for leftovers. read more

The food had next to zero taste, the service was sub par, the server was incoherent on the order, requested black beans with said meal. never received them, so either I didn't clearly talk loud enough, or the server didn't bother paying attention after the main order. Beyond the plates are much smaller then they use to be, either it's changed ownership or they're trying to cheat the customer on orders. Would not recommend, unless you like bland food, and servers with poor listening skills. read more

Overall do not recommend. Tortilla chips were much worse than chips you get at the grocery store. Stale and bland. Salsa was watery and flavorless. Service was very bad. The server actually randomly walked away in the middle of us placing our drink order. Took at least 30 mins to place our food order. And then approximately another 30 mins to get the food. Food was very very poor quality. Chimichanga, chalupa, and quesadilla all tasted the same. Beans were okay. Rice was so dry and flavorless. Will not be visiting again. read more

It turned out they had a big catering order they were busy filling but the waiter never came by to explain to those of us sitting waiting for our food...what the problem was until we saw they were making many trips out the front door For delivery.. In the meantime we, the captive, uninformed diners sat there waiting with no explanation offered...then finally our food arrived...it was terrible, no seasoning, food was not hot, other dishes were below par...expensive lousy dinner! That is not the usual as this restaurant is usually good but they better figure out a way to not jam the kitchen to the point that inside diners suffer and also train the wait staff. There are so many mixed reviews on this place that I was pretty nervous to go in. Classic start, chips and salsa were a slam dunk. Salsa had excellent flavor, did not taste canned at all, and had perfect heat. Chips were fresh, very crunchy and actually hot to the touch so they must've been kept in some thing like a warmer but I'm not mad. Some items do have an interesting take on them, if you order the chicken fajitas, it's not the standard fajita you would be used to at most Hispanic places. These chicken fajitas are marinated in soy. We actually had mistaken the chicken for steak and asked a server because it was very dark when it arrived but once we tasted it, we realized it was chicken with soy. I don't think either of us were a big fan of that risk they took. I got the chicken enchiladas Mexicano, three different enchiladas with sauces, their rice was so fresh and flavorful. Oh, and the beans let me tell you about the beans! Anybody who's read my reviews knows I would do some shady stuff for a good bean! I would bathe in these beans, I don't care if they're canned, made from powder, I will snort them, drink them, or order them every time. The beans are rich, very flavorful and buttery, they're perfectly salted and have the essence of a mom's kitchen. Oh yeah, back to my enchiladas, each sauce was delicious, nothing was canned flavored, and all seem to be home made. The service was absolutely hustling and outstanding. I am a very clumsy eater and usually end up wearing half my dinner, but during our chips and salsa starter, my husband actually spilled (before me) and a server noticed it and wiped the table before our food arrived. That was a real treat and it's never happened ever and all our times eating out. The servers were very attentive, we never had to wait for anything, they checked on us regularly. I look forward to going back for more of the menu. The space is very colorful, it was clean and well-maintained. There is lots of parking off the street in a large lot. read more

I just went in for the last time tonight as a delivery driver. They are requesting drivers for delivery orders it seems as soon as the order comes in to them and having the driver wait the 25 to 30 minutes while the order is prepared, they have the capability to adjust their settings, whether with Uber support, or with the tablet that they have on hand at the restaurant when I informed them of this capability, I was met with indifference and attitude from the hostess. I've taken my family here several times in the last few years and as a customer i've noticed that the food quality has not been worth the increase in prices that we've seen over the last year or so. There's a newer Mexican restaurant that's opened up down the street and we've just started going there instead. The prices seem to be about the same and the food quality is much higher. read more

First off, best margaritas! Their medium is huge! I had the mango and it was amazing. A bunch of us had an early dinner and we all ordered different entrees. They were all really good. Rip off extravaganza. Look at the measly amount of meat in my taco. I ordered the Pastor lunch special, and it had clearly been sitting under a heat lamp for an eternity- the plate was so ridiculously hot, it was hard to touch even when it was time to leave.
