La Diva Mexican Kitchen is a small Mexican restaurant that serves some decent Mexican food out of a window on one side of a gas station. It is conveniently located on Ridgewood Avenue close to the intersection of Ridgewood Avenue and Dunlawton Avenue. I guess that one would not expect good Mexican food slung out of a side window of a gas station, but the food here is pretty good and the price for most of the items is pretty good, though a single taco is a bit gigh at around three dollars ($2.99 to be exact). While the price is decent, the taco was a bit light on the meat and I believe that it was an additional dollar to upgrade to carne asada. I had a chimichanga, which was the daily special. The chimichanga itself wasn't bad, but the rice and beans were terrible. I could swear the black beans the chimichanga came with was straight out of a can. Their sauces and salsa were mediocre, as well. The service was friendly and they had a few outside tables to enjoy your meal. All in all, not a bad meal. Found a FANTASTIC take out spot in Port Orange for my Mexican breakfast/lunch fix! Has daily specials posted on FB (if you follow) including breakfast, lunch, drink/dessert of the day. Had the delicious enchilada plate that came w/ choice of protein, sauces, homemade tortillas, rice + beans. The pico was IMPRESSIVE (Yum)! It was a good portion and all the items were well-prepared and tasty (see pic). Other menu items which caught my eye were tacos, taco salad, fresh quac and LOADED nachos. I'm TOTALLY onboard with chorizo + eggs for breakfast (especially w/ that delicious pico). I'm also a FREAK for guava cheesecake I've seen posted on occasion as dessert of the day. Wasn't impressed with the outdoor patio dining area and took my meal around the corner for a picnic on the Halifax River. The new Riverfront Park is also across the street. This place is incredible! You must go! You would never think a restaurant, placed right along side a gas station would be so the food is delicious!! The Chef Jennifer was delightful. A young entrepreneur that has made herself one that can compete right up there with the big Mexican restaurants in town!! I had stumbled upon this little gem while driving around weed buying a soda at a convenience store. The convenience store had a kitchen on one side. I was completely blown away with the made to order - muffin chorizo, egg and cheese. The chorizo had the perfect kick but not overly spicy. The muffin is not your common English version. Mexican style muffins were toasty yet soft. Great flavors and pretty big. I will be going back. read more

Excellent food! Have driven by this place countless times and finally decided to give it a try based on the good reviews La Diva receives. It did not disappoint! We tried the eggs and chorizo with rice and beans. So delicious and the tortillas are to die for. Also sampled the Durango Tango (which is huge and delicious) but my favorite was the sincronizada --ham and pineapple quesadilla. Incredibly good. This place has a really interesting menu and the ingredients used in their dishes are fresh and of good quality. Definitely not microwave Mexican food here! The service was very friendly and efficient too. Don't be dissuaded by the fact that La Vida is connected to a gas station. The food and service are the real stars here. read more

We quickly realized this place was going to be different when the lady taking our order was pleasant from the greeting and a delight to interact with during our order. We arrived about 12:37 and there was a few small groups of people. We patiently waited while the gentleman and his wife ordered in front of us, even the customers were a delight to chat with while in line. When it was our turn we ordered, I had an order of 4 tacos, one asada, one ground beef and two chorizo, FE had chorizo and eggs that came with a choice of black beans and rice or tater tots, I asked if we could pay an up charge so we could try both being it was our first time and they said they would just put the tater tots as the side for the 4 taco special I ordered!!! We also ordered chips and guacamole with red and green salsa. FE loved this place, yes that's huge. Speaking of huge my tacos were big, I probably could have ordered two or three, this place FEEDS YOU!!! The tater tots were awesome! And the price wasn't bad!!! We will be back! read more

Chef Jen, and her staff are outstanding! I have been eating there since they opened, and have NEVER had a disappointing meal! The business model is the 3 F's...Fresh, Fast, Fabulous! Courteous service combined with authentic Mexican favorites, and specials make La Diva a hit! When I was told to go to this restaurant that's inside a gas station I was like ..... no way. Well, today we went there for my bday with some peeps from work and it was delicious. So fresh! So yummy! I had a chicken and a beef enchilada with green sauce, rice and black beans. Everything had such great flavor. And the prices are really good. I highly recommend! ENJOY! read more

Safe to say I won't be coming back. I believe it's the owner, who doesn't know how to talk to people and always catching attitudes over the simplest things. I've been here 3 times. First time I left without anything because of her attitude. I gave it some time and tried them a second time. The other woman who worked in there was very sweet so I ordered my food. Which was pretty good. But she still had an attitude in the background. And again today with an attitude. Didn't have what I wanted because they just opened. Which I work at a restaurant, I'm very understanding. It's the way she says stuff and her tone. It was another woman working with her and she was very nice just like the last woman from my second visit. My guess is she hires people who are good with customer service because she's not. read more
