We have yet to find a fast food burrito place as good as Tijuana Flats. Nothing else compres! Every time we're in Florida we search for the closest Tijuana Joe's just in case. This particular one we went to two days in a row. We almost always get the chimichanga, but this visit we tried a few other menu items. We liked the atom bombs which are kind of like a jalapeño popper flauta as a starter. I got their tacos which I enjoyed, even more so because they're hard shells and it's not that easy finding places that do that outside of Taco Bell. For dessert we tried the churro fries with chocolate sauce and they did not disappoint! Would be nice to have a chain in GA, but until then we'll continue to carve out at least one visit every trip. read more

To start, we ordered through Door Dash at work one day, so this was a delivery order. I was in the mood for a fish taco, so I ordered that with the sides of beans and rice. Well, it was about what I would expect from a fast food franchise type place. First off, the chips were very flat and plain. No seasoning, no salt, no crunch. The salsa seemed fresh but watery. My taco was ok but there was way too much paprika on the fish which threw off the taste. The fish itself was flaky, well-cooked but it was overwhelmed by the topping. The one saving feature of the taco were the pickled onions. Now those were done well. As for the rest of the meal, the portions were small which was ok since I didn't like the rice or the beans. Again, not a lot of good flavors. No real seasoning to the rice which was dry, and the beans were lackluster. Took 35 minutes to get our food. There were only four customers in the whole store at lunchtime, two workers. The tacos were the worst. I had red grease running down my arm dripping on my plate. Staff is very pleasant and helpful! I have Celiac Disease, and cannot have even trace amounts of gluten, so it was nice that they knew how to help me stay safe. It helps to arrive when it is not real busy so they can take their time preparing your food using all of the Celiac safety precautions (which they did). I ordered a burrito bowl. All of the proteins are GF and the rice, black beans, cheese, Lettuce, tomato, onions, are as well. The chips and taco shells are NOT. My son introduced me to this restaurant. I love the atmosphere and the trendy decor they have. Very colorful. The service was amazing and everyone was very friendly and nice! Fast Food on steroids might be a fair description, but Mexican Restaurant is maybe a stretch in my opinion. Looking at the 4.5 review average I thought "really" after getting my order, although I was impressed with the traffic through this place. To be fair every place can't be everything to everyone and maybe my expectations were slightly higher than they should have been when visiting this location. But we left disappointed and wanting more. The store is beautiful on the inside it was slightly unkept but the staff was working hard to clean it up and they were all very friendly. The hot sauce bar was oddly amusing and necessary since the small cup of salsa was quite bland and is a chargeable option. The chips were typical chips from a bag and quite stale today but again this is fast food and it appears their niche is that they serve beer and the bottled hot sauce bar. We both ordered the elongated tacos they were pretty bare inside but the ingredients were of good quality. Nothing bad here by any means just not my thing I guess. I have not been to Tijuana Flats in about a year as there are a lot of Mexican choices in the area. Today I was thinking of how good the quesso used to be. I ordered the blackened chicken nachos. The quesso is now watered down and the blackened chicken was very sparse. On the plus the guacamole was still great and the variety of sauces if fun. It just seems like they are more focused on reducing costs at the expense of the great quality I remember. read more

In the 5 years that I have been coming to this location the food has always been great and service even better but recently it seems to have gone downhill fast. I'm not one to write reviews but this is one worth mentioning. The quality of the food has drastically changed along with the cleanliness of the place. My food was soggy and looked like it was just thrown on the plate. There are always bugs on the hot sauce bar. The floors are nauseating just about every time. Chips were greasy and undercooked, it felt like I was chewing on old cardboard. I was taken care of more like ignored by what I think was the general manager. She rushed through taking my order and made me feel like I was a burden to her the entire time. All for her to run to the back of the restaurant and giggle with the rest of the staff. I really hope she doesn't treat every guest like this, but it might explain why it seems so slow now. It goes along with the child like atmosphere here. There are toys EVERYWHERE and no place to sit because the few tables they do have were dirty. I thought this was a place to eat not a daycare. Seems unsanitary to me. Or maybe it is a management problem because I have never seen it like this in all the times I've been here. Disappointed is an understatement, looks like it's time to find somewhere else for lunch. So I used to live 5 minutes from actual Tijuana. This is Tijuana TexMex which means it's awesome Mexican food, different from border food, and still good. I ate the two steak tacos. The steak was warm, the taco looked great, like each piece of jalapeño and steak were placed perfectly. The guacamole is good and the water from their tap is crisp and clean tasting. Bathrooms are clean, tables clean, very well kept place. The staff here is super friendly and very good at suggesting meals if this is your first time. Even the chef comes out to make sure everyone is doing good. I was hear by myself and there were only a few other customers at the time. If the staff isn't busy, they spend their time making sure the customer were happy as well as making sure the store was clean. I'd absolutely eat here again due to the food, service, and atmosphere. What I really loved about this place was the variety of sauces they had to offer. There were all different sauces from super hot to tangy and to sour or sweet. This was the second time I have been to a Tijuana Flats. I really enjoyed the meal. When I used their app to place my order, it said delivery by 6:31pm. I received a notification that it was picked up and still had the same delivery time. This place is overpriced, cheap, and not very tasty. I ordered a steak burrito and the meat was chewy and not grilled. It was kind of like Alpo out of a can (woof, woof!). I wanted pork, but they didn't have it. There's a Chipotle's across the street and their pork is pretty darn good! Another thing I disliked was that I paid extra to "make it wet" with salsa verde on top. When she brought it out, there was hardly any salsa on it. 99 cents for a thimble full of "wet" is a rip-off. My rating system is based upon type and style of restaurant. Fast-food can be a 5 star for fast-food category. This location is great. They are friendly and the prices are good. I eat here very often, multiple times per week and the food quality is high every time. Likewise, the portions are dependable each time. I prefer this location more than the location in Daytona because the portions are larger at this location and the have never gotten one of my orders wrong. I typically use the app and curbside. NO food was coming out of the kitchen...even the online orders were waiting...standing around...so again, zero food coming out of the kitchen! When I asked the response was that they were just really backed up. When I went to find out what the status was the lady in a blue Tijuana Flats shirt was just standing in the back doing NOTHING!!
