La Divina has become one of my favorite places in Baton Rouge. I usually stop in for a dry cappuccino, and it's consistently excellent. What keeps bringing me back, though, is the atmosphere. In the mornings, it's quiet, warm, and inviting--the perfect place to read, think, or prepare for the day. It's also become one of my favorite spots to meet with colleagues, entrepreneurs, and investors because it's comfortable enough for conversation without feeling noisy or rushed. I also want to recognize Bethany, who makes a genuine difference in the experience. She greets everyone with a warm, full smile that immediately makes you feel welcome. She's attentive, thoughtful, and truly cares about making things right if something isn't quite as expected. That kind of hospitality is rare, and it shows. If you're looking for more than just a good cup of coffee--a place where you can slow down, think, read, or have a meaningful conversation--La Divina is well worth a visit. read more

Got the Piazza Panini, Hibiscus Tea, and an Affogato. Panini had good flavor and texture. I've had better affogato's, but it was acceptable. Service and ambiance is where this cafe only gets 3 stars. Took nearly an hour to get the panini at a non-peak time. Waitress was nice but had a dead-pan attitude. The decoration style is wooden accessories with small chairs and burlap sacks under the glass table tops, very rustic; but also small paintings by local artists on the walls that seemed out of place. After Trader Joe's stopped by to get a quick latte to go, not expecting much but I walked in and was really surprised. I had to stay for a while. The barista at the counter told me about the place, how they sell local art, local goods and the art is absolutely breath taking! At the end of the conversation I found out the barista is a chef, and asked her to make me a drink that came out of her heart. She made me a "cinnamon roll" mocha- white chocolate mocha with cinnamon and brown sugar swirled in and a half and half+vanilla top to mimic icing. I was so surprised by the flavor and the elements that went into it. If you want more than a good drink but crafted intention ask if Genesis is around to make your drink. Came back and got a Franco panini which was delicious, to my surprise there was a chess club that meets there every Tuesday, this is a gem of a place! Asked about it and they have so many events. I went on a quiet Monday morning when there was no wait. The man at the front counter was very friendly. I ordered an espresso with The Biscotto. It was a small, quaint, cozy shop that was nice to hang out in on a quiet morning. For my food, I subbed the biscuit for Ciabatta bread at the recommendation of the man at the counter. The sandwich had egg, cheese, and pancetta. My only complaint is that the cheese wasn't great, but the sandwich overall was very good. The espresso was excellent. read more

I work near here and come from time to time on my lunch break considering how close it is. The gelato is fantastic and hard to beat anywhere in town. I frequent the fig and mascarpone which is my favorite gelato flavor they have as well as their french onion soup. The other things I have tried their were a variety of their Italian dishes which were very average at best. I highly recommend this spot for gelato and their soups as well as paninis. read more

Stopped here for a quick lunch on our way from Florida to Texas. This place hit the spot. Staff very friendly and accommodating-- we had our dog with us so they set up a table with an umbrella on the patio-- then brought us a dog bowl with water! Order at the counter. We tried Caesar salad with chicken, stuffed portobello, veggie wrap, and of course some gelato. All delicious! Salad could have used a bit more dressing. Easily my favorite breakfast spot in Baton Rouge to spend lazy mornings with my husband. The shop feels cozy and is definitely a hidden gem. I love going in early and being among a handful of people. Sitting there in the small shop, you feel like you're part of this little community and that everyone is old friends. This morning we shared The Biscotto w/ pancetta and a side of Italian sausage. Tucked into a buzzing shopping center that never stops, this little gem provides it all - a coffee buzz, sweet gelato treat, or nutritious meal to satisfy even the grumbliest of bellies. They also have a nice little wine selection and some different spins on mimosas. My first trip here was to meet with a friend swinging through town, and I enjoyed some tasty gelato with Nutella and other surprises. I wish I remembered more, but I just remember the recommendation from the owner and downing every bite of it. I met with a friend and her children for a coffee one day (the kiddos had the gelato), and their favorite seats are some booths in the hallway with nearby chess and checkers sets, as well as other delightful ways to keep them entertained. The kids can also be a little more noisy here without bothering patrons in the main dining area. My latest visit was for a book club event with around 10 ladies. We were seated with little notes to show it reserved, and the staff was super friendly and welcoming. I really could not believe how great they were to accommodate us. I ordered the Blu on the Bayou wrap, and it comes out piping hot with all sorts of amazing flavors. Satisfying hints of apple, chicken, veggies, and a melted cheese to knock your taste buds for a loop! My friends and I also split a very nice Cab that was very reasonably priced. Again, the service was on point, friendly, and really stood out. So while you're out shopping or running around town, or if you just need a relaxed place to hang or read a book, don't forget to drop in! I can't wait to catch some of their live music nights, grab some brunch one day, and enjoy this little community dive for some more treats. read more

An après urgent-care visit breakfast took us back to La Divina and away from our usual choices there. Opened with their real-deal cappuccino, the best in town (and anywhere west of Lake Garda in Lombardy) and then down the menu for first-timing the heart shaped pancakes (with eggs and their signature peppered bacon) and the massive biscuit sandwiched with bacon, eggs, and cheese. Both entrees came with pear-and apple compote. All so Good! My wife and i are now more comfortable sharing a dish so (considering the very generous portions) we happily took a Hobbit's second breakfast home for the both of us. La Divina excels as a pleasant place to eat and by the quality of their food (and of course their cappuccino!) which goes traditionally beyond the over-sweet, over-salty, over-chemicaled, and low-end soybean oil concoctionss served at most breakfast venues around town. For a good meal, with good ingredients, good portions, and good taste, try La Divina. read more

I love this little Italian coffee and gelato shop. They make a fantastic cappuccino. They offer a single, double and a quadruple. I've not been brave enough to try the quadruple, as I'd be bouncing off the walls on a caffeine high. The do offer it in decafe, but I don't believe in decaf coffee. On weekends La Divina offers a breakfast menu with breakfast sandwiches, frittata omelet, eggs and pastries. I've normally get the frittata omelet, which comes with sourdough bread and jelly. You pick cheese, meat and a vegetable. Love going after a shopping trip to Trader Joes next door. read more

I've been to this cute little place a handful of times. Yesterday was my most recent visit since we were in the area and I wasn't looking for anything heavy. Live music was being offered--and if I have anything negative to say--it is what the space is small and the music was a bit loud. Otherwise, the service was on point--the staff is super friendly. The food, always most important, was also really delicious. I can't recall having anything here that I didn't like. The desserts in the display case (next to the gelato) were calling my name but I ate too much bread.. well, maybe next time. This time I had the bayou blu wrap and it really hit the spot. On a spinach tortilla, it had grilled chicken, romaine lettuce, onions, and Gorgonzola (bleu) cheese (maybe a couple other things that were less noteworthy). The cheese was delicious but be forewarned if bleu cheese isn't your thing. I also appreciate that it was served grilled/warm. It's a really big portion! My sidekick got the spaghetti and meatballs, which came with a rather large side salad and two large slices of toasted bread. She didn't want the salad, and I tried it (Caesar). I will be ordering that as an entree (or maybe with soup) next time I go. The dressing was tangy--not sure if it's homemade--but not fishy (if anchovies were included). The croutons were also homemade and they were perfection . Needless to say--it's a really good place to get Italian food without a formal style dinner. Breakfast is offered, too. Went on a Saturday around 2pm for a late lunch. Ordered the chicken fettuccine with house salad. The chicken fettuccine was okay overall. The house salad was quite fresh and the dressing was equally as good. We ended our late lunch with some gelato which was quite delicious with two different flavors. The gelato was soft and easy to meld to the spoon. Customer service was nice and accommodating! Come for the gelato, will come back to try their breakfast next time. read more

Wow, this is one of those places I wish I had been to earlier so I could have been going all year! This gelato is FABULOUS. They have tons of unique flavors. I tried the fig gelato and it was great, but after trying the Azteca (aztec hot chooclate: rich chocolate with cinnamon and cayenne) I just had to get it. I got a side caesar salad for $4 which was nice and big and every ingredient was clearly of a high quality. The croutons looked homemade. Employee was masked up. Coffee was yummy. La Divina is a hidden gem! We stopped in out of starvation and were completely impressed. The gelato was fantastic (we enjoyed two different flavors)! We ordered the meat lovers pizza and although the tomato sauce could have used some love, we weren't mad at it. The pizza was generously topped, fresh, and delicious. We ordered a cup of French onion soup, it looks amazing! This was purchased as a gift so I cannot tell you anything other than it looked amazing. The item that completely blew us away was the lemonade. Yes. The lemonade. I'm not particularly fond of lemonade, but this homemade version was unlike any other. Completely unique and destination worthy. The service was also pretty awesome. We experienced an issue with their point of sale system and finally had to ask that everything be packaged "to go". The gentleman did not hesitate ( I would have probably shown a wee bit of frustration). He packed us all up and had us ready to go pretty quickly. No complaints for La Divina! Perhaps the prices are a bit high, but that's kind of the way of the world now and quality isn't cheap after all. We've now been here 4 times as a family of four and as just a couple, and each time has been a great experience. The kids' events like Breakfast with Santa today have been so much fun! The food is fresh, unique, and delicious. Gelato and coffee choices are so scrumptious they can't be dismissed. The set up in here is a great little cafe feel with rotating art on the walls (promoting local artists) and calming music in the background. Lots of local promotions including alcohol, artists, and authors that come in for special events to read to kids! Baton Rouge is up and coming with local and unique venues like this...makes me proud to be a Baton Rouge native! read more

I was racing across town and had a little window of time to grab a bite and so stepped in to "La Divina" - and I'm SO glad I did! This smallish, un-assuming little place took me by surprise, honestly. It's not that I was expecting anything bad - I just had no expectation whatsoever - and the nice, but sort of no-nonsense decor and layout that greeted me upon arrival didn't lead me to expect the meal that I got. For my beverage I tried the Cucumber-Basil Lemonade and it was DELICIOUS. Light, flavorful, refreshing, sweet but not overly so. My meal consisted of a tomato and herb wrap - the "Blu-on-the-Bayou" - which consisted of chicken and mushrooms, onion, romaine, Apple, pecan and Gorgonzola. The apple added a bit of sweetness and was balanced out by the Gorgonzola on the other end of the spectrum. What I appreciated was the balance since Gorgonzola can easily overpower anything. It was certainly present but was well balanced and not at all overpowering. The wrap itself was toasted and warm but without becoming brittle or dried out. Well done! I finished off the lunch with a sight indulgence of half and half gelato (Makers Mark Bourbon Pecan) and sorbet (Pineapple Mint). It was A fabulous finish to a delightful dining experience!
