This is the first time I've been here & I had a good time with my son. It was a nice little Yelp event, so thank you to Yelp & Alex. I received my free beef taco w/Cheese & Sour Cream & my free Diet Coke. I bought my son a beef taco w/Cheese. I ordered us chips & Queso to split. The Queso was Delicious !!!!! The tacos were good, but the shell tasted a bit "off". The tortilla chips also tasted old & kind of stale. . When we got to the self serve counter, everything was pretty much empty & what wasn't , looked very old. I guess we just went at the wrong time of the day. I may try this place again around lunchtime & see if there is a more positive difference. There weren't enough tables for everyone there & I'd say about 1 out of every 10 people were wearing masks & the 1 guy w/o one, was coughing a lot. Some employees were wearing them, but not all. Speaking of employees, they were all VERY nice. That was a big PLUS ! The tables were not being wiped down as people left. I liked hearing the music they were playing & the authenticity of the place. Stopped in after the Memorial Day parade with some family members. We entered in from the back door, to a strong fishy odor. I don't know if that's normal for this place, but the smell started to fade as we got closer to the front. Personally I wasn't too hungry, so I only ordered the rice which had absolutely no flavor. I took two bites and was ready to toss it. My sister ordered two items and said they were delicious (I can only take her word for it as I didn't try any). I did eat from there years ago and enjoyed it. So we were in the neighborhood and also hungry. When I first walked in I immediately thought to walk out, actually said that to my wife. It was totally dead except for one couple and two workers, it was also very unappealing as it was very dark and pretty warm especially on a hot day. So we did order, we got two tacos, my wife got chicken and I got the steak. We were told if we wanted lettuce or sour cream it was extra, (lettuce?), we Ali ordered chips and used the salsa bar. The chips came out with the tacos and we proceeded to the salsa bar to try to add to the tacos and believe me it did not help. They were tasteless and dry! I used to come here really often prior to COVID but haven't been here in a minute. For under $10, you can be full off of 2 tacos and an unlimited amount of toppings! My two favorites are the shrimp taco and the fish taco. Their pico is also very fresh and I LOVE their avocado salsa!!! Prices have gone up a bit but whatever. Sour cream and cheese is also an up charge but this is where being lactose intolerant becomes beneficial. This is more of a quick bite type of place. Tacos are one of my weak spots, wherever I may be, if there are tacos on the menu, you can be assured I am considering them. The temptation I tell you! I saw the pictures from La Divina, and my mouth immediately started watering. I made it the first place I got food in Buffalo. Now, if I've said it once, I have said it 100 times: balance is everything. On the one hand, I appreciate that they did not skimp on the meat, on the other, this, at least in part, led to a less than stellar experience. Before I take a bite into the meat... quick note: if you are looking for lettuce, or have a tortilla preference, make sure you specify. When asked if I wanted cheese and sour cream, I requested "with everything, please", this was only applied to sour cream and cheese. Lettuce must be requested seperatly. No big deal, authentic tacos come withour lettuce, I believe. I ordered an Al Pastor and Barbacoa taco. Quick side note: they claim the barbacoa is brisket, however, isn't barbacoa typically braised/marinated pulled beef? If this was brisket, then the wonderful fatty parts of it were missing. I dig the [unlimited] toppings bar, you can shamelessly personalize your tacos with abandon. No shame in asking for more pico de gallo if you can just help yourself! Other options included 3 (seemingly) house-made hot sauces, lime, cilantro, radish, and others. At the time of this review, they are individually packaged (COVID, and all). What would be very helpful here, though, is if everything was labelled. It would save having a bunch of people asking what they are looking at (esp. in regards to the sauce offerings). The meat was, unfortunately, this place's undoing. First, because of the sheer amount of it, even with the toppings you can reasonable fit before you get an impromptu taco salad, it overtakes anything else. Seocnd, while I would not describe the meat as tough, I am not sure if I would go as far as to descibe it as tender, per se. Regrettably, the problems do not stop there. The amount of juices that burst out upon biting would have you thinking I was eating a burger! The proteins had almost enough moisture to make their own soup. The Al Pastor was not quite drowning as the Barbacoa was, but had seemingly excess oil. This blurs both the flavors and textures of not only the meat, but also any toppings you add. Instead of bold, distinct flavors, you get something resembling a stew. I did find the Al Pastor a little devoid of those bold, bursting flavors, but this might be attributed to being dulled by juices. They have some things going for them here: the toppings bar for one, fast service for another, and that two tacos makes a filling meal For me: a filling meal should also be enjoyed, and not just eaten to quench the hunger bug. read more

This place is fast makes your food incredibly fast and right in front of you, this restaurant is definitely a powerhouse when pumping out food. I ordered their Birria tacos and a tamale. Their prices are super efficient especially for most restaurants prices they charge for Birria. My spouse ordered a few other variety tacos, and even the salsa on the side was delicious. read more

Been a long time fan of la Davina! About as authentic as we get in Buffalo- this coming from a California native! Docking one star because the tortillas always seem hard and not fresh- but they do have good flavor. Seat yourself setting, with a toppings bar that is stocked well and you are able to take to go as well in little containers. Don't forget the horchata! read more

Still going strong with getting my tacos here! I started going here in 2017 I believe? And May 2020 was the start of going pretty much every Tuesday. I generally do take out, but I've also stopped in for food with friends, or before a concert downtown while on my way down there. Usually to grab a horchata or tamarind drink from behind the counter when I'm eating in. The addition of the extra tables is nice for those people who do eat in. The grocery part is less to accommodate the tables, but you can still get some items. My only complaint remains about the candy lol. The mango tamarind one runs out too fast, need to order extra boxes of it on your orders. ;-) read more

I'm so mad I lived walking distance from La Divina for three years and I didn't realize what I had until it was gone. And by "it" I mean me, cause I moved. UGH! I have been wanting to try birria tacos since I heard about them about a year ago, but I wanted to make sure my first one was at a tried and true spot. Previous reviews insisted that this place was it, and I'm so glad I trusted them. SO CRISPY CHEESY GOOD. Ugh. Truly filthy and delicious. I got three for my husband and I to split and it was a lot for us, which is saying something because we are pros at eating food. We also got a carnitas, asada, and barbacoa taco (the owner once told me the barbacoa was her favorite thing in the menu so had to try). All three were delicious, especially with the pico de gallo and cilantro from the toppings bar. It was tough to snag a spot to eat, and the line was kinda long when we got there, but we had our food within 20-25 minutes. Birria tacos are to die for! The corn tortilla is dipped in a spicy broth and topped with a mound of shredded spicy beef and cheese. It's then folded and placed on the flat top to melt the cheese and caramelize the tortilla shell. It's incredible! I travel from the Falls once a month just for these tacos. In the past I've also had their shrimp tacos and barbacoa tacos which are quite good as well. But it's the birria that keeps me coming back. read more

They have a bar so you can add whatever toppings you want to your taco. Everything is made fresh when you order, and although there were a lot of people on line the wait to order and get food wasn't very long. They were very efficient. Service was great as well. LOVE! This was the first time my husband and I were there - for Taco Tuesday no less and it didn't disappoint. I had Carnitas on a corn tortilla and hubby had chicken on corn tortillas - we split an order of nachos. The queso was delicious poured over a generous amount of homemade tortIlla chips - in fact I wish I had some right now :) The corn tortillas were tender and warm and the meats were flavorful and perfectly cooked. They offer a variety of salsas and picos from hot to mild. I tried the salsa verde - mild and yummy. I put pico over my taco - very good. This basically a no frills taco joint and that's just fine! There's lots of seating at high tables and a TV tuned to Chive. There are also a few random items for sale. I can't wait to go back for another Taco Tuesday! read more

La Divina delivers exactly what I was looking for - Street tacos. I opted for the new mushroom and poblano as well as the asada. The corn tortillas are perfect - soft, not dry, not mealy, and the ABUNDANT toppings bar fills in any gaps that you may want. I also got a chicken tamale. I don't have enough tamale knowledge to judge, but, I loved it. I added a bunch of their really amazing salsa verde to it. I stared/drooled at the nachos that came out and I wanted to go back and order 2nd dinner. Not because I wasn't pleased, but because everything looks so good I was getting fomo. (Last visited 11/3/2020.) Working in Buffalo for the week and it's Tuesday so I'm craving tacos of course. I did my usual Yelp search and discovered this place with a pretty high rating. Here's how it went! Atmosphere/Appearance: Set right on a decently popular street is this gem. There is street parking out front which is always a plus for those spots that don't have their own private parking lots. This place is a legit Mexican store. Did they not lead you astray with the name. Lol. Once you walk in you have the hot food section directly to your right, but all along the left wall are coolers full of different sodas and cold drinks. Toward the back were a few tables in which you could eat your food if you so chose so. There isn't much to this place though, it's a store... that serves hot food and also a place where you can get a number of authentic Mexican ingredients. Service: There wasn't much service. You walk up to the counter, tell them what you want and they create it for you, assembly line style. They were nice and straightforward. Food: I tried out 4 of their tacos so let's get started. The Cecina taco is a taco containing dry-aged, salted steak. By the way, none of the tacos come with toppings. You do have to add them on your own a la carte. I added cheese and sour cream to this one and it was pretty good, a bit salty, but good. Next up was the ribeye taco and I did like this one a bit better than the Cecina. Chorizo is a Mexican sausage and it was my favorite of the 4 that I tried. Al Pastor is a pork + pineapple mixture which I loved. It was my second favorite of the 4. To the left of where they create your food is a "cold buffet" of, when I went, plastic cups with guacamole, onions, pico de gallo and other spices. I assume this is due to the pandemic's effect on buffets worldwide. I also assume that before the pandemic these items were able to be scooped via utensils and things like that, but I was a big fan of being able to create your own taco beyond the meat however you liked. Value: My Cecina, ribeye and chorizo were $4.00 because they fall under the "Specialty Taco" category. Sour cream and cheese were $0.50 each to add. My Al Pastor was $2.95 and my order of beans was only $1.00. There was a $0.68 take out fee for whatever reason. In conclusion, I really enjoyed the food here. It ALL was quite salty, but that's the nature of Mexican food. It's a simple establishment that's straight to the point. The magic is in the food and you won't be disappointed. read more

You have to try this place out! I came here with my dad the second day the food passport came out. I just couldn't wait. You see, I've had their tacos before. And they're delicious. They have a yummy hard shell and perfectly spiced meat inside. I was fully aware of what I was getting into, and it tasted great. I was absolutely not disappointed. My dad had never had a taco here before and was really impressed. He got an al pastor, I got carne asada (I think). I would love it if chorizo was an option here! Since I got a pop too, I went and looked in the coolers and was so impressed by their selection. I ended up with a diet Sprite in a cool old fashioned bottle. The cashier wasn't personable and the garbage hadn't been changed recently, but those aren't terrible things, just nitpicks. It's not like the cashier is waiting on your table or anything. I really need to come on this side of town more often because I have been finding some great spots around this wah and La Divina did not disappoint! You walk in to a huge open area that houses authentic food and small amounts of grocery items. There are seats available to enjoy your food which you may want to do because it's that good. Their prices are awesome so I tried a few things while I was there. I got a chicken taco and a ribeye steak taco which were both very tender. A birria taco which is made with beef brisket and comes with liquid magic for dipping. I literally put this juice on EVERYTHING once I tasted it. I also got a tortas and chose chorizo as my meat. The sandwich had a good flavor and the bread was very soft. For my drink I got a large Horchata. I'm soooo glad I got a large. It was so good. I went with a friend who got the beef taco, a quesadilla, a birria taco, a side of queso (it was huge), and a side of beans. She said everything was great. I had the queso and it was BOMB! As of right now they don't deliver but they are considering it soon. There is a side bar where you can add condiments such as tomatoes, salsa, etc. There may be a huge line, but you won't be in it long. They are very fast and accurate which was great. Heard so many people rave about their birria tacos and they weren't lying they were juicy, super flavorful, cheesy and the shell was even a little crispy which is the best! The chicken tacos were good but definitely 2nd, I think they could've been seasoned a tad bit more and they kind of fell apart. I've always been more of a chicken taco girl but these birria surpassed my expectations. They give you a great amount of meat on both. The service was extremely fast and very reasonably priced. I haven't been here in a while, and from the previous owners I've noticed a lot of good changes. This business deserves 5 Stars The cashier was super friendly and attentive. The cooks were polite as well. They had our food out in under 3 minutes. Our food was better than ever! All of the meat was good quality; no fat in the Cecina steak, it was absolutely delicious. I'm especially happy about my shrimp taco, because it was deveined properly that's a big deal to me. These are things I've noticed that LD has evolved from which kept me away for a while. The restaurant was very clean with appropriate seating to accommodate social distancing. When leaving the staff came out immediately after to clean our table and seats. Eat more tacos for a better life. That's my motto lately, not there's, but still. La Davina is a Buffalo staple for good tacos and my first experience there was not a disappointment. I stopped in on Memorial Day and was stoked when I saw the different options they offered for tacos. I decided on ordering 3 tacos to make sure I tried enough (and because tacos are cool). The 3 tacos I went with are Asada, Barbacoa, and Carnitas, all with cheese (sour cream and cheese are an additional 50 cents per taco). The gentleman working the register was friendly and the food didn't take too long to come out either. Digging in was a treat and all 3 tacos were absolutely delicious and full of flavour. This is one of those low key spots on Delaware but those that know about it know it's really good food. I've been here a few times and it's some of the best Mexican I've ever had, anywhere! They do not take orders over the phone, but it's worth the trip as they are quick. There are a few tables to eat at distanced due to covid. I have gotten the al pastor quesadilla, the Choriqueso and nachos and the birria taco. They have a condiment bar with individually packaged Pico, Cilantro, quac sauce etc. Definitely give this place a try! read more

The most delicious tacos in the Buffalo area and I don't say that lightly. I haven't been to any of the other locations so I can only speak to this one but this place is a hidden gem! I haven't been here since the pandemic began however I've previously had the Al Pastor, Pollo and Asada tacos, all of which were absolutely delicious. Even though I had heard about this restaurant on multiple occasions, I have never stopped by until today. We received a free chorizo taco and soda for the Yelp Elite event, and also purchased a fish taco on the side. I don't think I have seen the amount of meat on a taco as was on these tacos, and very flavorful too! Upon ordering and picking up our tacos, there was a condiment bar to pick up condiments from, and the variety was vast and fresh! This place is great. Nearly mimics a restaurant visit in Mexico in terms of quality. The food is fresh, delicious, and authentic. Prices are cheap. But since this place IS trying to replicate its homeland, the minor issues I have are related to the seasoning of the meat and the lack of complimentary guacamole. I understand the prices in Mexico and NY for avocados are vastly different, but that's the bar this place needs to reach. In regards to the meat, chicken in my case, I felt was really underseasoned and underwhelming. I've only been here once so it could be a fluke, but all the meats in Mexico were so flavorful and was something I noticed here with my first bite. Finally, the restaurant itself is really just part of the grocery store or vice versa (however you wanna look at it). Neither a true restaurant nor a grocery store. Some sort of hybrid since the grocery isn't fully stocked and the restaurant is almost a food stand with a handful of seats. Worth a visit to eat easily under $10 and enjoy an authentic Mexican meal. read more
