But prices are $2.50-$4.00 for a (super large and delicious) taco with cheese + sour cream $1.00 extra but totally worth it! The potato veggie taco was truly my favourite, so full of goodness!!! It's been a few years since my original review; the prices have gone up a little bit, but as this little whole in the wall expanded...there's been some new additions - like vegetarian tacos! La Divina offers some fantastic cauliflower, mushroom and potato (three different kinds) tacos at $2.50 a pop. One of each and a trip to their salsa bar = lunch heaven. The space has been built out with more tables as well and I honestly feel like no one really comes here for the grocery store aspect of it. Who comes here to buy groceries, I mean really...admit it. I still find the tacos here to be primo, despite their huge influx of popularity since starting the taco revolution in Buffalo. After they showed their success with the simple tacos, there are at least 3 other places in Buffalo you can get similar style tacos, but you gotta give proper credit to the first. read more

A good amount of tacos tamales rice beans and a multitude of bottles and cans of beverages including a wealth of Mexican fruit based sodas. The staff is always pleasant and helpful. Today I enjoyed a Barbicoa- brisket taco and a chorizo taco. I loaded up at the condiments bar there were hot mild and medium hot sauces, guacamole, cilantro,onions,radishes,roasted peppers and Pico De gallo to enhance your tacos or rice and beans sides dishes. The beverage I tried was a Mundel apple soda that was light and refreshing. The place is no frills quickly serving food get in and get out type of establishment. There is a refrigerated case next to the cashier by the front door that had a few different pastries and flan that looked delicious. Reasonably priced and full of flavor, La Davina serves up one quality taco! I dined on the Al Pastor (pork and pineapple) and the Barbacoa (braised shredded brisket) and they were both delicious. The salsa bar offers several different options from simple onions to pico and at least three different salsas choices (it looked as though a fourth option was missing). If you aren't into hot, definitely go for the mild or hot salsa, though I found the Super Hot to not be too crazy. The atmosphere inside this restaurant/store combo was lively with a nice musician background that wasn't overwhelmingly loud and friendly staff throughout. Definitely would recommend going back and though I don't know their usual busy times, Saturday at 3pm seems to have a steady flow of folks coming in for some tasty tacos. read more

This is a huge place. There were 4 of us and we ordered a bunch of tacos. All the tacos were so good. I would rate chicken tacos the last. It was plain grilled chicken. La Divina is my husband's favorite spot. There is no question about it. Once when we were there, a group walked into the restaurant and once they figured out that they had to get their own drink from a cooler AND put their own toppings on their tacos, they laughed and walked out. It was for the better. Not to be a jerk, but if you're anything like that group, don't come here because this place is not for you. A lot of people who I know rave about La Divina. It took me many visits to find something on the menu that I really loved. Why did it take me so long? I finally realized that I don't like corn tortillas! Once I made that conclusion, all was right in the world and I was able to find two menu items that were perfect for me. My go to is the Tortas, formerly known as Las Cemitas. This is a Mexican sandwich with avocado, lettuce, onions, jalapeños, mayo, queso and your choice of meat (I go with chicken). It's grilled and just as delicious as it sounds. If they aren't cooking up tortas for the day, I go for the chicken quesadilla which is pretty standard, but it is made with a flour tortilla, which I prefer. I heard that they recently added chips and queso to their menu, which I've yet to try, but I am excited to do so! They play Latin music in the background and the place is decked out with Latin decor as well. All of the workers are very friendly and have smiles that make you feel welcome. read more

The flavors were out of this world and the taco shells are homemade and delicious. The offer a taco toppings bar to add more deliciousness to your tacos. After hearing so much about this place and craving tacos, I finally made it and I'm so impressed with the variety of options here. I one asada and two pollo tacos with cheese and sour cream. The sour cream and cheese are 0.50 c extra but so worth it! I loved how we can add toppings and sauces from taco station, the variety of topping that we can add are so many and had so much fun adding them, the food felt so authentic and so delicious! The staff is so friendly, I'll be coming here again and I like how clean and spacious this place is! I love that the food here is affordable too! For Mexican, this is Buffalo's best keep secret! They have made some interior renovations in the past few years, but it still has the casual, quick, street food vibe going. I have never been disappointed here, the food is always fresh, authentic and delicious! They have added a few new things to the menu, like tamales which were amazing. This is such a wonderful place. One could possibly call it Divine. I found the place impeccably clean and the smell of fresh Mexican food was intoxicating. I loved how helpful and how kind each of the employees were also, they made ordering the best option easy. I was so happy I came to this store. I found some of my favorite sauces to put on my Mexican food to spice it up, including a green habanero sauce and Tapatio. I also enjoyed the selection of cane sugar Mexican sodas, including the delicious Guava. All in all this was such a treat, having come to this store once, I will be back. What's not to love! This is what you need to know, when you come to La Divina Mexican Store. Contrary to what their sign says, they are not a grocery store. The best way to describe this place is, calling it a true hole in the wall. Entering into the so called store, you automatically feel like your in a frontier country. This is the type of place when your away on vacation, and you ask the locals where they eat at. So you leave the hotel or resort your staying at. You walk through a few rough neighborhoods, cut through those wet dingy alleys you see in the movies. Then just when you think your lost, that's when you see La Divina. So you can see, this place is far from fancy. You can eat inside, they have a few tables. The menu is on a chalkboard, behind the register. The drinks are all behind you, in the fridgerator cases. Today I ordered the birria tacos, and Tai had the chicken along with barbacoa tacos. I never heard of a birria taco before, especially a taco you dip into it's own au jus sauce. Here is my take on this taco, it's a hearty taco and its actually pretty good. These fried tacos come, with nothing but beef and cheese. I enjoyed my taco more, when I top it off with the condiments from the condiment stand. The fresh onions, cilantro, and salsa, gave this taco a fresh compliment. Lord please help me, cause words cannot describe how the palette is engulf when you eat one of their tacos. Listen people, I can't make this review express what you truly taste so it's definitely difficult to write. It's heaven wrapped in a corn taco that would be my best description. Ok let's get into the nitty gritty of it all, so this establishment is somewhat of a small grocery store in the back area. What happens in the front is called "Michelin Restaurant Rating", if one could rate a dish or food for true authenticity La Divina would totally receive an award for its taste and authenticity. The food is only cooked to order nothing is cooked in batches and sitting for hours until someone decides to purchase it. When you place your order it is cooked right at that moment in front of your eyes, it's cooked and seasoned to perfection every time. The ingredients are fresh no question about that, the meats used are also freshly seasoned to an authentic Mexican taste. I've visited three times now and I can't express my joy and happiness as I write this review, every time has been totally a delightful first time to me. They are the best tacos in Western, NY PERIOD! No questions asked and no need to try to even think if there is a better place for tacos - this is it! If you haven't eaten their tacos you aren't a taco lover. Buffalo you must eat here! I visited La Divina for the first time this past week after many recommendations from friends, and I understand why! I ordered the chicken quesadillas and a birria taco (which I've never had before), and it was definitely worth the hype it's been getting on social media. The service was quick and I placed my order and received food within 10 minutes. So let's break this down from the beginning to the end: The cashier that I had was very sweet and she had answers to my questions (like... what meat is in a birria, what would you recommend for a newbie, that type of stuff). She even opened my glass coke for me which saved me the impending hassle of trying to open it. When I got my food I peeked inside the dessert cooler and saw this chocolate mousse cake with whipped cream that I knew I needed to get... so I did. The birria taco is small but hefty. I was full after one taco. The quesadillas were a bit dry, but nothing some salsa couldn't fix so I won't complain about it. The main attraction to this show was the chocolate mousse cake... I almost bought the rest of them out to keep in my fridge at home because they were that good. In short/TLDR: I will definitely be giving this place many visits when I'm thinking about Mexican for lunch/dinner. And you should too! read more

I honestly don't know what took so long for me to finally make it in here, but my first ever trip was last week. I love love love Mexican food, I could honestly eat it every single day. La Divina offers a truly wonderful and authentic take on Buffalo's Mexican fare that simply cannot be overlooked. How it works: 1. You order your foods at the register and pay. If you are getting a cooler drink, bring it up with you to order. 2. The tacos, quesadillas, etc just come with meat. Cheese and sour cream are .50 extra. 3. You can get meat on the chips and queso. Get the chicken. 4. Once your food comes out, visit the toppings bar to top everything off to your satisfaction. 5. Feast, enjoy, contemplate ordering more though you are bursting. I'm not a big fan of corn shell tortillas, so I was happy to see quesadillas on the menu. I ordered a large chicken and cheese quesadilla, and a chicken and cheese taco because I just had to try it. The husband ordered three tacos- 2 pork and 1 chicken. We got an order of chips and queso and added chicken. Everything tasted absolutely amazing! Fresh ingredients make a world of difference. I can never pass on a taco or two here and a glass of Jarritos. They have a topping bar with lots of options and sauces. They do charge extra for queso and sour cream ($0.50 each so $1 for both I believe). This isn't a fancy restaurant, so don't expect elegant seating. I feel like La Divina was great when they first opened, they had some issues and lost some people, but they've regained their former excellence. Don't hesitate to go. Getting a bit pricey though, but so is everyone else. Birria Tacos, Ribeye, Carnitas and Lengua tacos are all wonderful. The toppings bar is consistently fresh and good and clean. They cater to the people like me who like hot stuff with the hot tomatillo based salsa (the red/brown colored one) and roasted jalapeños. Fresh cilantro and fresh pico, too. Tortilla chips and queso are as good as any other place and go great with the tacos. Love the grocery items, bought things there in a pinch, like tortillas, corn meal, hot sauce.
