One of our number cannot eat gluten so the menu for this was extensive and appreciated. Because of light rain we ate inside and were given a corner table for the four of us.Felt very tight and the room was quite warm-hot even.At request from neighbouring table the fans were turned on.Two of us chose the seafood which came in a huge breaded loaf -far too much bread and very little sea food inside.Would not order it again. We would return but ask for different seating and question items on the menu more closely. read more

So happy to find this restaurant! I am celiac and the selection and flavour offered by the chef and owner Nelio and his wife Paula is amazing! How long it has been since I can order an appetizer, main dish and dessert...ALL GLUTEN FREE! Nelio presented the homemade Tiramisu complete with candle and singing of Happy Birthday. Based on the positive reviews, I'm hoping our visit was just an off night for the restaurant. I took my mother out for her birthday, we ordered 2 glasses of wine, garlic bread, and 2 pasta dishes. We waited 30 minutes for our garlic bread, and by the time our pasta came we had been there for over an hour. The staff were pleasant, although it was very slow service. For us, the most disappointing part was the food that greeted us after the hour wait. My mothers "Al Funghi" pasta dish was drowning in sauce with very little meat. By the time she cleared out the pasta, half of her plate was still filled with sauce. I ordered the "Crema e Giardino" and the consistency was unimpressive. The sauce was very watery and did not cling to the pasta at all, and again there was a lot of sauce left when I cleared off my plate. It was an expensive meal for such low quality, and I was so disappointed that I didn't choose a better restaurant for my mother's birthday. I will not be back. read more

La Dolce Vita is a great restaurant in Little Italy. They have an extensive gluten-free menu which was why I visited in the first place. They have g-free stuffed pasta and chicken/veal Parmesan. Even a g-free cannoli for dessert! The prices are a bit high, but the atmosphere is nice, the service was very friendly and the food was tasty and didn't make me sick. The food wasn't the best I've ever had, but it was definitely tasty. Most of all, it was really nice to go to a restaurant where the g-free menu is just as appealing as the regular menu. I will be back (but probably only for special occasions). read more

I ordered a gluten free caeser salad. when it arrived it contained croûtons that looked suspiciously like my friends (who was having a normal ceaser salad). I asked the server. She apologized and returned the salad to be made again. I waited and finally she returned-I began to eat to find another croûton in the middle of the salad. obviously they had picked out the croûton instead of making it again...considering I had mentioned that I had a sever allergy to wheat as well as a gluten intolerance I was appalled at their lack of concern for transfer. After all this they charged me for the Salad! I wouldn`t recommend this restaurant with such a blatant disregard for allergies I would consider this place a death trap for those with allergies. read more

Very disappointing. Terrible pizza crust. Like lead and half-cooked. Also, the toppings were a bit vinegary or something. It wasn't cheap, so I emailed the restaurant to complain. No response, so I'm giving them a thumbs down for customer service too. I will not be a return customer. Went there with friends last night and the meal I ordered had plastic inside. I put it aside thinking it might be just one occasion and took a second and a third bite, it had the same issue. When I brought it to their attention, instead of apologizing, the owner was explaining why the plastic was inside. Apparently, it was in the freezer so they wrap the food and the new cook forgot to remove the plastic wrap before cooking. They actually asked me if I want another one instead of saying we will make you a fresh one. So of course, I returned and requested that I want a fresh piece. So while my friends are eating their meal, I am waiting for mine. When the bill came, any other fine restaurant would have most likely would have given the meal at no charge or give a discount for what happened. They billed me for the entire amount and when I brought this to their attention, the waiter (the owner's son) was really argumentative and rude and asked if I have ever worked in the restaurant as he has never seen this where the meal is free. He said it was a new cook so how is that my problem? So if it's a new cook, then all the meals should be given at a discount price to everyone since the quality is not the same. I think it was just an excuse as I only saw the owner cooking in the kitchen as it was right in front of our table. The argument with the owner and waiter went on for about 10 mins as this restaurant didn't care about customer service. They said I still got a fresh piece and ate my food. Wow with this kind of customer service, they must do really well. So I paid my bill with no tip and will never again eat there as they serve frozen food. Looked like it was bought at costco and reheated and charge their customer extensively high. The worst restaurant I have been in my life. Also, while we were eating our food, as the kitchen was right in front of our table, noticed the owner (also the cook), while preparing the food also was tasting it as well. I had mentioned that to my friends while eating and not realizing how the end would have resulted. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Hated it! read more

Being on a gluten free diet is lame af. One dish I have missed most since being forced to change my diet is deep fried calamari. I was extremely excited upon looking at La Dolce Vita's gluten free menu and seeing that they offered the dish, as well as many other appetizers, salads, pastas, pizzas, and desserts. All of the staff were extremely welcoming. Our server Laura was great at answering any questions we had and informed us that the restaurant used rice flour for the calamari, which tasted great. Additionally I had the meat lasagna and caesar salad which were also very good. I would highly suggest this restaurant to anyone, especially those on a gluten free diet! read more

The food was above average overall but the service was pitiful. Both our appetizers and drinks were forgotten. After prompting, they were brought out (60 minute wait) and at 1 hr we were told that our orders were also not entered. Another 45 minutes later the food came out except some of the entrees were incorrect (wrong toppings). Correction of the final dish was a further 20 minutes. Despite the horrific wait time, nothing was offered to us to eat, not even bread and butter. As compensation for all the errors we were offered one small pizza (we were a party of six) and one dessert free of charge - as we had spent almost 3 hrs there already we didn't even take the free dessert because we all just wanted to leave. Although the food wasn't bad I would not recommend coming here. You can find plenty of places with better food and excellent service at the same price point all along the street. The way the restaurant handled the poor service was also disappointing. read more

calamari was rotten, honestly it was green, I could hear the son of the owner saying it was rotten and she said "give it anyways". a lot of yelling an miscommunication between the front and back of the house. place was steady but not busy and everyone looked panicked, got my 5 cheese pizza and the bottom was burnt black. and you can smell the cheese was starting to ferment. (rotting) would not recommend this place for food or service. both side tables had there tables given the wrong order, while one order was forgotten to be places at all. I saw everyone eating but one older lady. she got her meal as the rest was done. the worst of all this was the owner was in the back smoking in the kitchen, she had a seat by the vents bent down hiding, looks like she does this often. I seen this on my way out and can be easily be smelled. pizza cook was panicked throwing pans on the floor, I go out very often 3-4 a week and I have never written a bad review before., but this place was horrid on a new level. me and my wife will not be back. skip this place, there are much better gluten free restaurants in Ottawa. read more
