Cute little bakery with a dine in section that serves hot food. I didn't try any of the baked goods but I came here for breakfast. I ordered one of their sandwiches and it was delicious! The food came out quick and fresh. The staff were all friendly. I'd love to come here again to try out their baked goods.

    Very Veggie Buckwheat crepe $10.

I had lunch here today and it was fantastic! I was a bit confused at first because there is a bakery section and a restaurant section. I initially went into the bakery section and didn't see any menu, so I asked them if they served crepes (since I saw pictures of their crepes online), and they directed me to the restaurant section, lol. The sections are separated by a doorway with no door. I got the Very Veggie Crepe ($10). You get to choose either a regular crepe or a buckwheat (gluten-free) crepe and I got the latter. It was a good size and had portobello mushrooms, sliced beets, goat cheese, spinach, cooked onions, and pesto. The garnish on the side was 2 thin slices of pickles, and some carrot and beet spirals. The crepe was delicious. The flavours went together very well and despite having pesto in the crepe, it wasn't overly oily/greasy nor too salty. The crepe was soft, the way I like it (I know that some people like their crepes crunchy, but I don't, so this was perfect for me). You order at the cash, pay, and give them your name. When your food is ready, they call out your name and you come and get your food (although the staff member actually started walking towards me with my food when I got up so we actually met halfway). Staff were very nice and friendly. The place is cute and feels like an indie bakery and café. I love that they have a water dispenser that you can serve yourself (and the water is actually cold). I have to say that the name of this place makes me chuckle because I always think of the expression "sowing your wild oats" when I see this bakery/restaurant, but maybe that says more about me than it does about the place, haha. This place is in The Glebe, so parking is a pain in the butt if you don't live in the area.

So cute! They offer tons of yummy and unique options, sweet and savoury. Everything we tried was delicious, the lemon square is *super* tart which I love. The baguette is crispy and soft in the most perfect way. A little on the pricey side but that's to be expected for high quality homemade baked goods!

Enjoy your food at their little patio.

I had these brownies a few times & they are consistently good!)

Busy and vibrant cafe with a lot of vegan and vegetarian friendly options. I came here on Saturday for brunch and tried the cinnamon bun with pecans and crepe with pesto, mushroom, goat cheese, and beets. It was very nice of them to serve with real maple syrup and hot sauce. My friend had a tofu and tahini sandwich. The atmosphere is friendly and eclectic, with lots of plants and featured artwork on the walls. I enjoyed coming here during my stay in Ottawa, and would return again should the opportunity arise. Total bill for my meal was around $15, and for my friend, about $10.

What I love about this place is their value of natural foods! I like that they give the food a little more bland, so you can add and control your own salt/sugar intake. (This goes for the hot chocolate and crepes). The cafe smells delicious-- layers of warm spices and butter scents. My buckwheat veggie crepe with goat cheese was okay. Nice texture, needed to add pepper and cinnamon! Interesting to garnish the dish with carrot and beet spirals! Love their scones. The chocolate pecan scone is crunchy with buttery flavour and they don't skimp out on the chocolate chips or pecans! I'd come back for the baked goods and smoothies :)

Ambiance: My friend and I come here some weekends to do some work. It's quite noisy, but nothing unbearable. The only thing is that their wifi doesn't always work. But the service is friendly and I do not have any complaints there. Food: the cafe is great because they offer food and drinks, the perfect mix! They have a selection of coffee drinks, smoothies, alcohol. For food they have soup, breakfast food, and much more! We ordered three breakfast dish to share. The omelette was tasty and very filling and the apple crepe was TASTY! The sweet and sour so well balanced out. I would definitely come back.

No credit cards, No meat - NO Problem! This place is totally awesome. You wont miss the meat. The complete opposite of "art is in" bakery (where all you smell is bacon). I went here last weekend with some friends and we ordered a whole bunch of great food. I ordered three pizzas - all of which were great. individual pizzas are $6. Then I ordered the eggs benedict. The English muffin it sits on was a bit crispy but the eggs were OK. I also ordered the omelette. Both egg dishes were around $12 and they charge $1 extra for wholegrain toast. The eggs come with a very nice side of hash browns. They seem to be popular for their drinks but I did not order any of those. I will definitely return. My only complaint: The music towards the back is way too loud.

    Pear and brie crepe.

The Wild Oat is a warm, colourful cafe and bakery in the Glebe. They make a great cup of coffee and tasty smoothies. Last time I went I split the pear and brie crepe with a friend. It tasted even better than it sounds! Lots of healthy and veggie options here. Everytime I've been it's been packed, but you can always manage to find a place to sit. The bakery next door is great too, I bought a cheap fresh baguette, it was still warm when I got home.

I was in Ottawa for a short visit and Wild Oat came highly recommended by 2 friends and it truly did not disappoint!! Awesome, delicious options. Great service. Knowledge of vegan / gluten free. Quick food preparation and lovely atmosphere. For lunch I had the Wild Card sandwich on gluten free bread (for only $0.75 more than gluteny bread) and it was full of delicious veggies and goat cheese. I grabbed a gluten free & vegan chocolate peanut butter bar for dessert and loved every bite. I actually ended up going back for dinner as I was still in the area while I waited to head to the bus terminal. It seemed to have the best options for me at a reasonable price point. I opted for the Trinidadian Bean wrap sans dairy and in a gluten free wrap. Just as one of the kitchen staff went to make my wrap he asked if I wanted a side salad since I wasn't getting dairy - so nice! He also checked to see if I ate honey since there was some in the dressing. Amazing! The wrap itself was awesome and came with a tasty, spicy sauce. I can't wait to come back here when I'm in Ottawa again!! Cash or debit only - no credit cards

This is my second favourite vegetarian restaurant in Ottawa (after the Green Door). The food is fresh, creative and delicious. I always leave feeling somehow lighter and healthier than when I entered, even after I filled myself to the gullet with their two egg traditional breakfast. However, I would more so recommend getting a salad or soup with the pear and brie crepe, apple ease sandwich or east meets west sandwich. The Wild Oat also has a bakery, small grocery and take out section. The take out area usually has at least one lasagna, curry, soup, chili and rice/quinoa dish available. The bakery stocks organic bread, muffins, cookies, quiche and other baked goods. I recommend the chocolate hemp brownie. It's a little on the dry side, but still very tasty.

They sell perogies and other Eastern European snacks. Overall, the food was good, and reminded me of the home cooking of the mothers of my Slavic friends. I found the prices a bit high for what they were, but I guess nowadays that's not unsurprising. I got a ground pork and rice bun ($4), a ground beef crepe ($4) and a cottage cheese pancake ($4). The ground pork and rice bun was reminiscent of a cabbage roll in bun form, minus the cabbage and the tomato sauce, lol. It was heavy on the bun and rice and light on the pork, but tasted like comfort food. It reminded me a bit of the Asian buns filled with fillings like BBQ pork or curry beef as well. The bun was soft and almost brioche-like. The ground beef crepe was tasty, albeit a bit oily for my tastes. The crepe is a bit sweet, while the meat is slightly salty. The cottage cheese pancake was slightly sweet and I should have eaten this one last, as it was more dessert-like. I like that the cheese was thick and had a nice texture. Overall, the three items made a good snack. Service was courteous. The lady asked if I wanted the items warmed up and I liked that she placed them on a real plate to microwave them before putting them into a styrofoam box (I have seen some places put styrofoam in the microwave [shudder]). I mean I would have preferred if the box was cardboard, but at least they don't microwave styrofoam. The shop is located in a strip mall. There's plenty of free parking in the strip mall.

So imagine McDonald's and Burger King got together had a baby and that baby grew up and became a vegan. That baby is Odd Burger. They serve burgers, nuggets, breakfast sandwiches, fries, onion rings, tater tots, poutine and milkshakes, and everything is vegan. The taste is very much fast food. The service and ambiance is also fast food style. My husband and I each got a BacUn Famous Melt Combo. In-store the price is $15.48, but it was $17.03 BOGO (buy one get one free) on UberEats, so I ordered it on the app for pick-up. The combo comes with fries. You can upgrade to tater tots, onion rings, poutine or lots of other options. I love that for your drink you can get a juice, coffee or tea for no extra charge. Most places only offer soft drinks and anything else is extra. You can upgrade to a milkshake for more money. We just got fries and orange juice. For our burger we had the choice of their regular smash patty or chickpea patty. We chose the former. The smash burger is made of wheat and soy protein, flax seeds, onions and nutritional yeast. The BacUn is made of oats, chickpeas and wheat gluten. It comes with vegan cheese, lettuce, onions, pickles and their special sauce (which tastes a bit like McDonald's Big Mac sauce). The burger comes with a sesame seed bun, but the sesame seeds are only on the top bun, so I gave my husband my top bun and he gave me his bottom bun, so it worked out for me and I didn't have to eat it bunless, lol. The burger itself was ok. The taste was very fast food-like. It didn't taste like meat but I appreciated it for what it was. I want to try the chickpea patty next time. The fries were thick and battered. They came piping hot and were crispy on the outside. The portion was nice and big. I enjoyed the fries. The orange juice was just regular orange juice, but I liked that I wasn't limited to choosing a soft drink. I eat meat, but I'm an equal opportunity eater, lol, so I wanted to try Odd Burger. I think it's a great option for vegans and vegetarians who miss eating at fast food burgers chains. For meat eaters I don't really see much advantage over regular fast food burgers chains. I mean it's not any healthier in terms of fat and sodium content. I suppose it might be better for the environment (?) I didn't find the taste that "wow" or anything. Maybe I'll like the chickpea patty better. There's not too much seating at this location. Just 4 tables for 2 which can be combined to make 2 tables for 4. Service was courteous and efficient. I do like that it's a Canadian chain. It even started off in my home province, Ontario! Street parking only. Review #131 (2025)
