This was truly amazing and I already want to come back. My husband and I stopped by on a whim and wanted to try some empanadas. The server told us that they didn't have all their empanadas available and gave us the options. She then said that she had the ingredients available to make one of the original ones we wanted which I truly appreciated. We had the beef, chicken and cheese. They were all phenomenal. the chicken and beef were so juicy and so well seasoned. The sauce they served on the side was also fantastic. The vibe is fun and eclectic. Lots of pink and fun tea pots and decor. We will be back for sure!!

La Dolcekca was one of the vendors at this month's "Crown Town Neighborhood Showdown: A Royal Yelp Affair" and of all the presentations we tasted, it was the mini coconut bites that they had which make me take a business card. This morning, we're here as they open to see what else they have that's awesome and magical. The young ladies working this morning did not speak English so we weren't able to explain what it was we wanted so we chose from what was on display. My wife picked the cocosito and I chose the lemon bar. We split a coffee. The coffee was excellent. The cocosito was dry. The lemon bar was very good with a strong lemon flavor and a creamy curd though the crust was too thick and it took out our plastic spoon. Lots of options for baked goods and they also do sandwiches. The brewed to order coffee is excellent. [Review 2068 of 2024 - 3755 in North Carolina - 23087 overall]

Wow, I'm embarrassed this has been under my nose for so long! Beef empanadas-crispy and huge. We ordered 2 and ended up splitting one. The seasoning on the beef was good but not my favorite flavor profile. Chopped Cheese & fries-I'll come back here for this over and over. We split it, and it's huge. The fries were perfectly seasoned and crispy. The chopped cheese was everything you love about a juicy burger in a piping hot wrap. The pastry case looked amazing but we were too full to try anything!

This unassuming bakery on Montford is everything! Bodega style sandwiches, brunch, coffee, tea, pastries - what else could you want? I had the chimi sandwich and it was so good. Pulled pork with a tangy slaw and melty cheese. Comes with crispy, crinkle fries. Also had to get a pastry. The passion fruit tres leches was the best I've had. The cake itself was light with a not too sweet milk syrup. Topped with a passion fruit mousse it was perfection. My only request is I wish they had a half sandwich option. Can't wait to come back!

This will forever be one of my favorite places in Charlotte. They have the best chopped cheese in the city and probably the only legitimate chopped cheese, but they have so many other things to offer, including a fantastic bakery, coffee, and tea shop. Service is always great and the atmosphere is always chill. If you haven't been, you need to put this place on your must visit list. Get there soon because I heard they may be moving to a new location.

This place was warm and inviting. What really impressed me were the hours. A lot of small businesses have weird hours but 10a-10p is suitable for a lot of people and I think that's great. We stumbled here after leaving a near by establishment. We looked up the bakery on TikTok and my husband was hooked by a sandwich. The sandwich was everything he wanted and more! The fries were crunchy, season and hot! We live pretty far but will definitely be back. We did not get to try any of the bakery items. Service was friendly and welcoming with a smile!

Cute decorations, friendly staff and yummy food! I had a massive piece of chocolate chip cheesecake and it was SO GOOD. They have a variety of cupcakes, tres leches cake flavors, eclairs and more. They also have sandwiches, breakfast and coffee.

My husband and I got a Strawberry Tres Leches & Strawberry Cupcake to share. I love tres leches and it was cool how many different flavors they have. I recently found out they have food (not just desserts), so I'd love to try that as well.

I wish I could give more than 5 stars! This place is a true gem! From the moment you walk in, the decor just sucks you in. Ids so beautifully decorated with various different furniture but it all works so well together. The staff was so friendly, a mom and daughter duo. The daughter was running the front end, taking orders and cooking them fresh after being placed. Mom was busy baking fresh yummy smelling pastries. I tried the chipotle salmon sandwich with lemon pepper wings. I'm at a loss for word on describing the deliciousness lol. The sandwiched was jam packed with freshly chopped and perfectly seasoned salmon (which I found making the pieces small, made the sandwich easier to eat which I appreciated.) it has fresh cabbage, pickled onions and everything was a delish melody of flavors. The wings were cooked to perfection, I like mine fried hard, but if that's not your thing, ask them to go less time on the frying. Also tried both the passion fruit and hibiscus tea drinks....so refreshing!! I got a mocha tres leche cake to go, so can't want to try that. But seriously folks, RUN down and try this place. You will not be disappointed. With Charlotte seeming to lose so many mom and pop shops these days, and being replaced with multiple pizza joints and breweries or apts, we need to do all we can to save spaces like them. These gems are hard to come back these days and we need to support them all we can!

Actually stumbled across this cafe by accident and so glad we did! Had waited 30 mins for our table at Easy Like Sunday Morning only to be seated and no service. Saw this spot from there and decided to give it a try. My goodness such a cute space! From the cute decor to the super sweet employee (perhaps owner) that greeted us when we entered. They have so much to choose from here-breakfast items, desserts, sandwiches, empanadas, ice cream, coffee... We ordered a salted caramel latte, bacon, egg and cheese bagel and 2 different empanadas. Had planned to try desserts after but it was just too much. First our food was amazing. My husband really enjoyed the chicken empanada. My bagel was scorching hot and the egg was cooked to perfection. Also came with a side of fries. My latte was so delicious and this coming from someone who rarely drinks coffee but if I do, I'm always having to add something to it. Not her latte-perfect. We were excited to try the tres leches and Oreo cookies after our meal but were so full-we passed. Will definitely be coming back in the future for those. Excellent service, food was out within 10 mins and just an enjoyable meal. If you hadn't tried this spot, truly missing out!

Heard great things and made it over to the south side to check it out. They were out of a few empanadas so I just opted for a cookie and the other empanadas they had available. The empanada was freshly fried while I waited. They also have sandwiches for breakfast/lunch. The empanada was delicious! Service was amazing so definitely plan to return to try more items.

I love finding a hidden gem and this was definitely a diamond of a bakery! So many amazing pastries and other sweets like Biscoff Cheesecake, Key Lime Pie and Chocolate Banana cake. So many Tres Leches options! I got the strawberry Tres Leches and it was so tasty and fresh! We will definitely be back to try some of their lunch options! Plus everyone there was so kind and helpful! A great addition to Montford

Omg I love it in here it is so adorable! The service is so wonderful it feels like home. The young ladies that made my food was very kind and everything came out so fresh! The prices were great for lunch and I loved the flower phone post! I highly recommend the homemade juice! They're all good! It's very homie inside and welcoming! I will be retuning! They also have adorable seating and they use vintage dishes! I love it

They had offered samples of their lemon tart at the event, which stayed on my mind--so I came back and ordered the Lorraine-style quiche. It was rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced by a fresh side salad. I paired it with a café au lait, which was equally well done. The ambiance is effortlessly chic--very much reminiscent of a European café--and it was lively during lunch. It's the kind of place where you can sit, linger, and people-watch... and SouthPark definitely showed up in style. At one point, several guests seated near us were speaking French, which added to the authenticity and overall experience. Service was warm and efficient, even with the crowd. The bakery itself is on the smaller side--you order inside and then head outside to sit and eat. I went on a Sunday, so it was very busy with a long line, but it moved quickly. When seating fills up, the neighboring restaurant allows use of their patio, which is a thoughtful touch. My friend enjoyed her quiche as well, and we both agreed it's a spot worth returning to--whether for a casual lunch, coffee, or a pastry break. I also order a few macarons to go and my family enjoyed them.

Review for Renaissance Patisserie…read more After relocating to Charlotte from San Francisco, one of the first things I searched for was a proper kouign-amann (pronounced queen-ah-mahn). It's a staple where I'm from, and when I discovered that Renaissance Patisserie carried it, I made the drive immediately. I'm happy to say--this place is the real deal. The kouign-amann here reminded me of the ones back in San Francisco. It wasn't quite as buttery or rich as some of the West Coast versions, but it was absolutely enjoyable--and most importantly, I finished every bite. That alone says a lot. Location & setting: Renaissance is tucked into the upscale specialty shops of SouthPark, in a lovely, polished shopping center surrounded by quality retailers like Williams Sonoma and several restaurants. Parking is plentiful and convenient, and once you step out of your car, you're welcomed into a charming outdoor courtyard that feels relaxed and refined. You'll immediately notice the bright yellow awning--it's cheerful and inviting--and inside, the bakery is just as charming. The black-and-white tile floors, small bistro tables, and beautifully arranged pastry case create a classic European feel. It's not a huge space--maybe six or seven tables--but it feels cozy, elegant, and thoughtfully designed. What makes it special: * A stunning pastry case filled with beautifully crafted desserts and laminated pastries * Skilled bakers and decorators--you can tell there's real craftsmanship behind the products * Friendly, efficient service * Apple Pay accepted (always appreciated) * Self-service water and condiments station * Clean, comfortable environment * A lovely outdoor patio that's perfect when the weather cooperates I do wish they occasionally experimented with more creative variations of the kouign-amann--perhaps seasonal fruit or specialty flavors--but even in its classic form, it's consistently a hit. I've brought these pastries to friends and gatherings, and they're always well received. What I appreciate most is that Renaissance delivers on quality and consistency. It may be a newer trend here in Charlotte, but these pastries have been a long-standing favorite in cities like San Francisco, and it's wonderful to see that level of craftsmanship available locally. Bottom line: Beautiful pastries, fair prices, great service, and a polished, welcoming atmosphere. This has become my go-to bakery in Charlotte, and if you appreciate well-made French pastries, you will not be disappointed.

I ordered the "customer favorite": egg-sausage-cheese biscuit (not at all French I'll admit). It was quite nice with a light fresh biscuit cheddar and better than average sausage patty. I took away a classic croissant, chocolate croissant and fresh fruit tart. All of these were excellent. I definitely recommend.

Review for Amélie's French Bakery & Café…read more As a transplant from the West Coast--specifically San Francisco, where high-quality bakeries and true French pâtisseries are plentiful--I was genuinely excited to try Amélie's after moving to Charlotte. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing, and after giving it more than one chance, it's simply not a place I plan to return to. The concept feels more like a themed destination than a serious bakery. The interior is whimsical and eye-catching, with decorative elements like a faux Eiffel Tower, which clearly appeals to visitors looking for a fun atmosphere. However, if you've spent time in authentic French cafés or bistros, you know the real charm is understated elegance--wood, mirrors, tile, and craftsmanship. This felt more theatrical than authentic. Where it fell short for me was the food. For a place calling itself a French bakery and pâtisserie, the absence of classic laminated pastries was surprising. I was expecting staples like Napoleons, kouign-amann, or beautifully executed croissants. What I found instead were pastries that looked average and lacked the refinement and technique you'd expect from a true pâtisserie. On my visits, I tried: * A leek soup that was supposed to be cream-based but tasted thin and under-seasoned--more like warm vegetable water than a properly developed soup. * A baguette sandwich with fig, Brie, and apple that sounded promising but was poorly executed. The bread was overly hard, and the balance of ingredients felt off, making the sandwich less enjoyable than expected. I gave Amélie's two chances, hoping the second visit would change my impression. It didn't. To be fair, the café clearly has a loyal following and works well as a social or casual gathering spot. But if you're specifically looking for high-quality French pastries or refined bakery craftsmanship, there are stronger options in the Charlotte area. Personally, I'd recommend: * Renaissance Patisserie for more traditional European-style pastries * Paris Baguette at Rea Farms for consistency and better execution * Or trusted local favorites closer to home Bottom line: Fun atmosphere, but the food didn't meet expectations for a French bakery. After multiple visits, it's a pass for me.

The inside was immaculate and beckoning, with a two-sided display of the offerings and a shining espresso machine behind the register. The workers bore welcoming smiles and a a polite, inviting nature. All of that is the reason I give this patisserie three stars instead of two. While some foods are still a mystery to me - barbecue I can just take or leave, mostly leave - I know coffee and I know baked goods. The croissant I sampled was dry, implying unkindly that the flaky pastry dough was either formerly frozen or not fresh, and while croissants aren't exactly the moistest pastry to be found, the idea behind making them is kneading and rolling in a lot of butter, which I truly could not taste. What a disappointment. And somehow, somehow, my latte, albeit freshly prepared before me, was lukewarm when I took my first sip on the way to the car. How is that even possible? At the last minute, I asked for caramel to be added to my drink, but that was imperceptible too. I'd forgotten to ask for it to be half sweet, so I guess that was a blessing in disguise. When you stop by a bakery late in the day you sort of pays your money and takes your chances, but I visited just before noon. No crowds either. Disappointing all around, though again, the ambiance invites lingering. Cute bistro, lovely people, but - and I cannot believe I'm saying this - I'd have done better at the nearby Starbucks if all I wanted to do was get a latte and pastry. As the French would say, domage.
