    La Dolcekca Bakery Cafe, Charlotte
    Bruce K.

La Dolcekca was one of the vendors at this month's "Crown Town Neighborhood Showdown: A Royal Yelp Affair" and of all the presentations we tasted, it was the mini coconut bites that they had which make me take a business card. This morning, we're here as they open to see what else they have that's awesome and magical. The young ladies working this morning did not speak English so we weren't able to explain what it was we wanted so we chose from what was on display. My wife picked the cocosito and I chose the lemon bar. We split a coffee. The coffee was excellent. The cocosito was dry. The lemon bar was very good with a strong lemon flavor and a creamy curd though the crust was too thick and it took out our plastic spoon. Lots of options for baked goods and they also do sandwiches. The brewed to order coffee is excellent. [Review 2068 of 2024 - 3755 in North Carolina - 23087 overall]

Wow, I'm embarrassed this has been under my nose for so long! Beef empanadas-crispy and huge. We ordered 2 and ended up splitting one. The seasoning on the beef was good but not my favorite flavor profile. Chopped Cheese & fries-I'll come back here for this over and over. We split it, and it's huge. The fries were perfectly seasoned and crispy. The chopped cheese was everything you love about a juicy burger in a piping hot wrap. The pastry case looked amazing but we were too full to try anything!

This unassuming bakery on Montford is everything! Bodega style sandwiches, brunch, coffee, tea, pastries - what else could you want? I had the chimi sandwich and it was so good. Pulled pork with a tangy slaw and melty cheese. Comes with crispy, crinkle fries. Also had to get a pastry. The passion fruit tres leches was the best I've had. The cake itself was light with a not too sweet milk syrup. Topped with a passion fruit mousse it was perfection. My only request is I wish they had a half sandwich option. Can't wait to come back!

This will forever be one of my favorite places in Charlotte. They have the best chopped cheese in the city and probably the only legitimate chopped cheese, but they have so many other things to offer, including a fantastic bakery, coffee, and tea shop. Service is always great and the atmosphere is always chill. If you haven't been, you need to put this place on your must visit list. Get there soon because I heard they may be moving to a new location.

This place was warm and inviting. What really impressed me were the hours. A lot of small businesses have weird hours but 10a-10p is suitable for a lot of people and I think that's great. We stumbled here after leaving a near by establishment. We looked up the bakery on TikTok and my husband was hooked by a sandwich. The sandwich was everything he wanted and more! The fries were crunchy, season and hot! We live pretty far but will definitely be back. We did not get to try any of the bakery items. Service was friendly and welcoming with a smile!

Cute decorations, friendly staff and yummy food! I had a massive piece of chocolate chip cheesecake and it was SO GOOD. They have a variety of cupcakes, tres leches cake flavors, eclairs and more. They also have sandwiches, breakfast and coffee.

My husband and I got a Strawberry Tres Leches & Strawberry Cupcake to share. I love tres leches and it was cool how many different flavors they have. I recently found out they have food (not just desserts), so I'd love to try that as well.

I wish I could give more than 5 stars! This place is a true gem! From the moment you walk in, the decor just sucks you in. Ids so beautifully decorated with various different furniture but it all works so well together. The staff was so friendly, a mom and daughter duo. The daughter was running the front end, taking orders and cooking them fresh after being placed. Mom was busy baking fresh yummy smelling pastries. I tried the chipotle salmon sandwich with lemon pepper wings. I'm at a loss for word on describing the deliciousness lol. The sandwiched was jam packed with freshly chopped and perfectly seasoned salmon (which I found making the pieces small, made the sandwich easier to eat which I appreciated.) it has fresh cabbage, pickled onions and everything was a delish melody of flavors. The wings were cooked to perfection, I like mine fried hard, but if that's not your thing, ask them to go less time on the frying. Also tried both the passion fruit and hibiscus tea drinks....so refreshing!! I got a mocha tres leche cake to go, so can't want to try that. But seriously folks, RUN down and try this place. You will not be disappointed. With Charlotte seeming to lose so many mom and pop shops these days, and being replaced with multiple pizza joints and breweries or apts, we need to do all we can to save spaces like them. These gems are hard to come back these days and we need to support them all we can!

Heard great things and made it over to the south side to check it out. They were out of a few empanadas so I just opted for a cookie and the other empanadas they had available. The empanada was freshly fried while I waited. They also have sandwiches for breakfast/lunch. The empanada was delicious! Service was amazing so definitely plan to return to try more items.

Actually stumbled across this cafe by accident and so glad we did! Had waited 30 mins for our table at Easy Like Sunday Morning only to be seated and no service. Saw this spot from there and decided to give it a try. My goodness such a cute space! From the cute decor to the super sweet employee (perhaps owner) that greeted us when we entered. They have so much to choose from here-breakfast items, desserts, sandwiches, empanadas, ice cream, coffee... We ordered a salted caramel latte, bacon, egg and cheese bagel and 2 different empanadas. Had planned to try desserts after but it was just too much. First our food was amazing. My husband really enjoyed the chicken empanada. My bagel was scorching hot and the egg was cooked to perfection. Also came with a side of fries. My latte was so delicious and this coming from someone who rarely drinks coffee but if I do, I'm always having to add something to it. Not her latte-perfect. We were excited to try the tres leches and Oreo cookies after our meal but were so full-we passed. Will definitely be coming back in the future for those. Excellent service, food was out within 10 mins and just an enjoyable meal. If you hadn't tried this spot, truly missing out!

I love finding a hidden gem and this was definitely a diamond of a bakery! So many amazing pastries and other sweets like Biscoff Cheesecake, Key Lime Pie and Chocolate Banana cake. So many Tres Leches options! I got the strawberry Tres Leches and it was so tasty and fresh! We will definitely be back to try some of their lunch options! Plus everyone there was so kind and helpful! A great addition to Montford

Omg I love it in here it is so adorable! The service is so wonderful it feels like home. The young ladies that made my food was very kind and everything came out so fresh! The prices were great for lunch and I loved the flower phone post! I highly recommend the homemade juice! They're all good! It's very homie inside and welcoming! I will be retuning! They also have adorable seating and they use vintage dishes! I love it

What is this place? No really... La Dolcekca the bakery cafe is doing it's own thing, and I like it. When you first enter, you have a lot of options. You can stay and chill while sipping a coffee. You could order waffles and eggs like I did for brunch. Or maybe you want to pick up that birthday cake for your primos 13th. Whatever you decide to do, you'll do it at a centrally located clear cupcake stand, where a young lady (maybe the owners daughter) will place your order then you sit. Where you decide is up to you, it's a large dining room with excellent natural light pouring into the decorative restaurant. Complete with instagramable floral telephone booth, and a very pink coffee bar. Food wise, I wanted to try everything and get a feel for this unique establishment. I had chicken empanadas, the egg and home fries breakfast...with a lemon blueberry cupcake. The egg and waffle with home fries were pretty good, except for the waffle. It was incredible hard and I'm not sure if this is how it comes but I didn't love the overall texture. The chicken empanadas however were delicious, very strong flavors and spices (not hot), but I got the cumin and peppers on my first bite. Lastly the cupcake was also a hit. The frosting alone could have been my dessert and I wouldn't have complained. The actual cake was moist while still being firm and not a crumbly mess. I honestly don't know where to place La Do Everything Cafe. For example: Imagine its December, and list season for "Best of", I have a strong feeling Dolcekca could dominate them all. Pro Tip: There is a select menu to choose from, not all options you see online or even written on the walls are available. The menu shown in my pictures was the most up to date offerings at the moment. I went at exactly 12pm on a Sunday.

Next, we wanted to love the actual goods of offer - beautiful presentation and a huge variety of do-it-yourself pick and choose tray style self service! Lastly we wanted to love the checkout service - it seemed ready to get people moving along! Most of these things held the weight we wanted and anticipated, short of the location and parking. The goods - we sampled a Yuzu tart (tasted like soap?!) and mango croissant (a bit of soapiness in this one too, oddly) a chocolate explosion croissant (best of what we tried and chocolate was evenly distributed) and one each of the pretzel shaped pastries (ok but nothing exciting and tasted bland). Again- skilled presentation and mastery of baked goods form...these all looked great and tasted...just ok. There were three staff members at the counter and two seemingly were distracted while one gent running the register was taking care of the 5-6 people deep line. Only as the line approached the cafe area and door did the other two staff start taking customers at the other register. There are probably several options here to delight palates if you take the time to sample all the items and perhaps we simply picked poorly during our visit.

You just need caffeine, carbs, and five minutes to reset your mood. I already knew exactly what I wanted, so this turned into a tactical pastry mission. Pulled into the little Piedmont Town Center circle with the fountain, double parked for a hot second, ran inside, grabbed an iced coffee and a mango croissant, and got right back out into Charlotte traffic. The mango croissant was flaky, buttery, lightly sweet, and filled with enough cream to make the entire stop worth it. Perfect little energy boost when your social battery and shopping patience are both running low. The location itself is great for a quick pop-in. Cute little area with hotels, restaurants, and walkable spots nearby. Easy place to grab a sweet treat before continuing your day. Life is too short to not eat well, Charlotte. They had offered samples of their lemon tart at the event, which stayed on my mind--so I came back and ordered the Lorraine-style quiche. It was rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced by a fresh side salad. I paired it with a café au lait, which was equally well done. The ambiance is effortlessly chic--very much reminiscent of a European café--and it was lively during lunch. It's the kind of place where you can sit, linger, and people-watch... and SouthPark definitely showed up in style. At one point, several guests seated near us were speaking French, which added to the authenticity and overall experience. Service was warm and efficient, even with the crowd. The bakery itself is on the smaller side--you order inside and then head outside to sit and eat. I went on a Sunday, so it was very busy with a long line, but it moved quickly. When seating fills up, the neighboring restaurant allows use of their patio, which is a thoughtful touch. My friend enjoyed her quiche as well, and we both agreed it's a spot worth returning to--whether for a casual lunch, coffee, or a pastry break. I also order a few macarons to go and my family enjoyed them.

Review for Renaissance Patisserie…read more After relocating to Charlotte from San Francisco, one of the first things I searched for was a proper kouign-amann (pronounced queen-ah-mahn). It's a staple where I'm from, and when I discovered that Renaissance Patisserie carried it, I made the drive immediately. I'm happy to say--this place is the real deal. The kouign-amann here reminded me of the ones back in San Francisco. It wasn't quite as buttery or rich as some of the West Coast versions, but it was absolutely enjoyable--and most importantly, I finished every bite. That alone says a lot. Location & setting: Renaissance is tucked into the upscale specialty shops of SouthPark, in a lovely, polished shopping center surrounded by quality retailers like Williams Sonoma and several restaurants. Parking is plentiful and convenient, and once you step out of your car, you're welcomed into a charming outdoor courtyard that feels relaxed and refined. You'll immediately notice the bright yellow awning--it's cheerful and inviting--and inside, the bakery is just as charming. The black-and-white tile floors, small bistro tables, and beautifully arranged pastry case create a classic European feel. It's not a huge space--maybe six or seven tables--but it feels cozy, elegant, and thoughtfully designed. What makes it special: * A stunning pastry case filled with beautifully crafted desserts and laminated pastries * Skilled bakers and decorators--you can tell there's real craftsmanship behind the products * Friendly, efficient service * Apple Pay accepted (always appreciated) * Self-service water and condiments station * Clean, comfortable environment * A lovely outdoor patio that's perfect when the weather cooperates I do wish they occasionally experimented with more creative variations of the kouign-amann--perhaps seasonal fruit or specialty flavors--but even in its classic form, it's consistently a hit. I've brought these pastries to friends and gatherings, and they're always well received. What I appreciate most is that Renaissance delivers on quality and consistency. It may be a newer trend here in Charlotte, but these pastries have been a long-standing favorite in cities like San Francisco, and it's wonderful to see that level of craftsmanship available locally. Bottom line: Beautiful pastries, fair prices, great service, and a polished, welcoming atmosphere. This has become my go-to bakery in Charlotte, and if you appreciate well-made French pastries, you will not be disappointed.

We also tried the madeleines, which - as the café's name suggests - were on point. And the garlic bagel is a garlic + cream cheese lover's dream. The iced dalgona latte was such a treat. Sweet with a creamy foam and topped with crunchy cookies - very well balanced and delightful to drink. The prices reflect the care and high quality of the products. Come support this amazing local spot and enjoy their unique, thoughtful offerings!

I got a mix today: the Cream Bread and Strawberry Cream Bread are both light and airy with the perfect amount of filling. The Almond Pastries were buttery, and the Mini Croissant Apple Fritter box is a must-buy if you're sharing (or just really hungry). It's a small quaint but welcoming place with a vast array of breads , pastries , danishes and sandwiches amongst other things. It's self self serve as far as the food items go - upon entering you pick up a tray n tongs and make your selections! They offer both savory and sweet or somewhere in the middle of that to delight anyone's taste buds. I had a spinach pastry - savory, cheesy and the dough was laced with just a hint of sweetness! It was delicious! Hubby hubby Portuguese egg tart that he equally enjoyed! They also gave us samples of their macaroons and apple danish. . The staff was extremely helpful and patient with our questions and checked on us even after our purchase! They have semi custom cakes perfect for special events as well. I guarantee you'll like it!
