Found this place, thanks to Yelp We crossed over to droop off my parents and wanted a place that served food but that we could sit down and talk. We had a 15 minute wait before we were sat at our table. As soon as we sat down, we had coffee cups ready and regular coffee or Cafe de olla ready to be served. Our Server was amazing. He made sure we were comfortable, and asked if we had any questions on the menu. We ordered the queso fundido to start, chilaquiles and tamales everything was great! This is our favorite place to eat in Tijuana. It can get crowded and I don't know if they take reservations. I had someone call from our hotel and we got right in and there was a line outside. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is all great. Their breakfast goes from American eggs and bacon with the best potatoes to wonderful burrito type breakfast items. Their menudo is great and they have great Mexican meats as well. Lunch and dinner is about the same. They make Mexican style fish and steak that is just perfect every time. All of their Mexican dishes are just wonderful. You can't go wrong. They even have bottled water--never drink the water there, just don't. They have the best rice and beans. The service is great. They make you feel right at home and even if you don't speak Spanish, most speak English and you will figure it out because they will help you. The prices are fair for what you get. At dinner I consider it fine dining. It is all good and you will be happy. The place is also clean and super comfortable. read more

I conducted extensive homework to find a place to have breakfast, in Tijuana. I settled on La Espadana. It has an old spanish mission look on the outside and walking in, you can immediately recognize that it is an impressive and popular place. The decor here is something to write home about. Beautiful wall fixtures, and well crafted local pottery and other artifacts, all around, everywhere. There is ample seating, that is well spaced out. Perfectly pitched Mexican music permeates the atmosphere. There is attentive staff that is so courteous, and welcoming. I wanted to eat lite, and I wanted to eat Mexican, so I chose the Yucatán Tamales. It comes as one pork and one chicken, both slim, wide rectangles, each baked in a banana leaf. They both had their subtle and distinct flavors. Comes with refried beans. The complementary salsas, the rojo and verde, were fresh and tasty. Service was outstanding. This restaurant was a pleasant surprise. It has a Spanish style arquitecture and interior design that's makes you feel welcoming. The waiter made some good recomendaciones and was able to customize some of our plates. My son ordered la Tampiqueña Mañanera and I ordered the Omelette La Espadaña. They were both flavorful. What a feast! We ate so well for a great price. The service was quick and helpful for us as new timers. They threw in the chips and salsas with a meat that blew us away! The place itself is super cute with Mexican decor and an indoor and outdoor option. Definitely recommend getting the grilled meats here. Honestly just delicious! We'll be returning. This... is my hands down favorite Mexican restaurant. On a tip from a friend, I went to this incredibly delicious, beautiful, amazing restaurant in Tijuana, Mexico. Tijuana is an absolute game changer in the culinary scene and I will be back here as many times as I can. The service was delightful and staff was so friendly. I ordered a cadillac margarita to start along with their queso fundido and chips and salsa. Their rojo salsa was beyond perfect and verde tomatillo salsa had a great bite to it with deep amazing flavors. The queso fundido was incredible and has the perfect amount of chorizo .. Next up was their Enchiladas Mole which was THE BEST mole sauce ive ever had... the chile rellano was cooked to perfection along with the rice and refried beans. I will be back again and again! We came to this restaurant for dessert after having dinner elsewhere. The cafe de olla was just okay, I think that's why I dropped one star. I was really craving a good cafe de olla. Service was great, they dropped chips and salsa immediately before we could tell them we were only there for dessert- but ended up eating the chips with the red and green salsas. I only tried the verde personally. Chips and salsa were great. We sat in a booth which was nice. If it wasn't for the cafe de olla, the other dropped star would have been for the music. It was oh so bad. We both agreed on that. Not loud, just depressing and not restaurant appropriate, mostly instrumental not suiting a dining experience. So besides great and timely service, why the 4 stars? The desserts of course.. partner had the pineapple coconut cheesecake and I ordered the apple pie. Both came with a scoop of vanilla icecream. Minus the topping as I don't like piña-coco flavors, this was one of the best cheesecakes I have ever tasted. It wasn't my dessert but I ate almost the lions share! Apple pie was served warm, didn't have cinnamon that I noticed anyhow and tasted how a European dessert would ( almost like an Irish apple pie and icecream, not like the French slice version)- I might have a photo. Flavors were also very good. It was $30 USD for 2 desserts and drip coffee so you are definitely paying US prices (update: we had two bottles waters as well) - the restaurant and overall experience was good. read more

This place is great! The Cadillac Margarita was delicious. The cactus salad tasted light and refreshing and was extremely fresh. Yum! I need this recipe! But the oven baked lamb was the true star of the show. Juicy and cooked to perfection served with handmade corn tortillas. The service was awesome and ambiance was very pleasant. Update: Returned to try some of the more popular items on the menu. I learned that it is best to choose queso Cotija or queso fresco for a more authentic flavor (**avoid anything w/ melted Monterey cheese***). The Tampiquena plate was served with generous portions of chilaquiles verdes garnished with queso Cotija and cream, a tender skirt steak that went well with their "on the house" guac/tomatillo salsa, crispy potatoes, and a side of beans. I recommend trying their fresh Green Juice and cafe de olla (note: pilloncillo Is sweet enough, no need to add sugar). read more

I was craving Chilaquiles and decided to come here on a recommendation. Little bit of a wait on a Friday morning but not long. The outside and inside are super cute. Started with a Mexican coffee which you can drink black because the flavors are so great and a green smoothie (which is not traditional América smoothie but juice). I decided to try the packs I cream sauce on my chilaquiles which was very good but super heavy. Have learned green sauce is my thing. All in all this place was pretty yummy and cost around $22 USD for all I ordered. read more

Oh my goodness I am so glad we waited out the long wait. The staff was super nice and attentive. The building and decor are so beautiful. As soon as you walk in you smell the delicious cafe de jolla. We asked the server for recommendations. We got the rancheros mole and the La Espadaña omelette. The omelette was magical, most fluffy eggs, fresh veggies, cheese and the chipotle sauce was bomb dot com. The food was served with hot fresh tortillas (I'm drooling writing this review). Green salsa was fresh, the red salsa tasted like they used tomato paste but had a nice spice to it. Beans were good but the potatoes could use an upgrade. Our server was very welcoming and attentive. I give him 5 stars. The food was good (mine was a little salty for my liking), and the muffins were delicious! The place was simple but nice. The restrooms were clean. The parking is not free even when you validate your tickets,, so heads up on that. Unfortunately, we accidentally did not give our server a tip on the card because it was too late to add it. We then tried changing a bill at their money exchange box so that we can leave a tip. The lady there said she couldn't do it. But I think she just didn't care to do it. No sense of even worrying about it. I did not want to go without tipping my server. He was ok without us not tipping him, but it's exactly that positive attitude that made me find a way to tip him. BUT it made me beyond upset to have to ask around for someone to exchange my bill when I am at a well to do establishment. This and the parking situation truly changed my experience. I'm between a two and a three stars rating because even though the food is not excellent, a good experience can really make it better. read more

This place always draws a large crowd, even more so on weekends. Not being from the area we usually stop by on weekends, so expect a wait time. First off must have their Café de Olla you can also do 1/2 1/2. Half reg coffee half olla. During COVID they have about half capacity if not less indoor seating in a large space and a list for wait they also offer take out. Upon entry they have shoe sanitation and hand sanitizer. They also take temp. Must do the chilaquilles, The red chile are just good. The Chipotle are too creamy for me. Comes with country potatoes which are ok. And beans. The chorizo is yummy I tried it on the side. My gf had the machaca and that's her favorite dish. To drink I have an icy chocomilk I get it like "frappè style" V delicious. read more
