Love La Esperanza Bakery! It's an easy grab-and-go setup -- just grab a tray, some tongs, and pick out what you want. Simple, quick, and hard not to grab a little of everything. Our favorites are the pumpkin turnover, Biscoff and Nutella conchas, passion fruit cheesecake, and the tres leches cake. There are so much more and I'm afraid you'll have to see it for yourself since I've been there a handful of times and things change! Another big plus is that there's a meat shop, a restaurant and Mexican grocery items inside, which makes it super convenient to grab a bite, pick up treats and last-minute groceries in one stop. I wanted to get something special for my boyfriend's birthday and his favorite cake is Trey leches.... I did some research on different bakeries in Nampa that have this cake and decided on La Esperanza. I was not disappointed from the moment I was on the phone ordering the cake with the friendly server to when I picked it up and she offered fresh tamales and all kinds of delicious baked goods I was sold. On Sunday, we took a nice drive to Nampa (formerly in Caldwell) to try La Esperanza. We got there just in time for brunch, got in line to make our order.  My husband had birria beef sopas while I opted for the carne asada burrito.  We were not disappointed; the sopas was filled with beef and veggies.  My burrito included rice, beans, and carne served dry. The portions are large, fresh tasting and service was excellent. We were so happy to see them open on a Sunday.  The produce was fresh and they had plenty of fresh meats for the grill (beef, chicken).  Many customers headed for the pan dulce sweet breads, and they had quite a selection. We will make many visits to this authentic, unpretentious mexican grocery/bakery and so glad they moved to Nampa. read more

La Esperanza has been in the area for many years. It used to be by the Walmart off the Blvd in Caldwell. They moved to a much larger store on the same street but now in Nampa. Their food is authentic and out of this world. The bakery can't be beat. I have enjoyed both for 20 years, both locations. Nothing fancy, if that's what you are looking for, however, if taste is the goal, you cannot go wrong. I grew up on homemade fresh Mexican food; my best friend is Mexican. I'm glad to be back in the area and know I can pick up fresh "authentic" Mexican food any time. When I open up a fresh tamale, I can't tell the difference between this and the ones my good friend makes. Unfortunately for me she is hundreds of miles away, but thankful that La Esperanza is right here. read more

We went there for lunch. This place is a bakery/taqueria/market type business. Good selection of sweets and a decent food menu. I had a Carne asada burrito. The meat was very tender and good. This bakery has a little bit of everything. They have a fresh meat deli that you can order and make it at home. They have marinated Carne Asada Pollo Asada. They also have a hot food prepared to order and eat there or get to go. It was very good. I was surprised on the amount of flavor in the food. They have a variety of different options to choose from. Then there is the bakery side with all fresh bakery good items made there in their in-house bakery. You can have cakes ordered for parties. It's a little gem. They have a little market in the center of some fresh produce and a few store items to get to complete any meal. The people were nice and inviting. I've eaten a lot of tamales over the years and I've had some excellent ones. These are by far the best I have ever had. They are also far superior to the James Beard award winning Tamales I had at Los Hernandez Tamales in Union Gap, Washington. The tamales are kept back in the kitchen, so you have to ask for them. Jalapeño & Cheese and Red Chile Pork tamales are available daily, until they run out. On Sundays, they make a small number of Green Chile Chicken tamales. I have never been there in time to try those, but I hear they're good. The Red Chile Pork tamales have big chunks of well-seasoned pork. Those are my favorites. I also really like the Jalapeño & Cheese. When you heat them up, they have oozing cheese in the middle and a nice amount of heat, but not they are not overly spicy. When I visited the store yesterday, I bought 12 tamales, 6 of each flavor. TJ bought the remaining 7 tamales. These tamales are huge! To give you a sense of scale, these tamales are in a dinner bowl that is almost 10 inches wide. One tamale with rice and beans or a salad will make a meal for most. They freeze well. They cost $2.50 each or $15 for six. We were there around 5:30 PM last night. As always, they were doing a swift business, which made it difficult to get good photos without being intrusive. Although some of the shelves were empty, they were constantly bringing out new trays of freshly baked goods. In addition to having the best tamales, La Esperanza Bakery is the best Mexican bakery in the Treasure Valley. quite possibly the state. I stopped by the meat market department and had the worst experience. I asked the employee for 5 pounds of meat when another set of people arrived and he decided to take their order before me. Working in the area, and stopped by this place for a treat, and boy was I SURPRISED! A real deal Mexican bakery in Caldwell IDAHO, who knew ! This place has completely changed/ruined my opinion on Conchas. I usually opt for tres leches or flan when I go to a Mexican bakery, but they didn't have any when I came in. So I got a Oreo and a Mazapan Concha, and let me tell you....... They were the BEST Conchas I Ever had in my LIFE ! They were so fresh, warm, and perfectly balanced with sweetness. Coming from SoCal it is hard to find authentic mexican bakerys. This place is it - a gem in the treasure valley! If you know about 'Café de olla' (a tasty mexican spiced coffee drink) be sure to ask them about it. A lot of places don't make that coffee because it is not known about. read more

It's tough when you live in Meridian and you want ethnic breads. Sure there's Kneaders and Panera but I'm talking about Mexican Pan or sweet breads. There's a couple of places in Boise but they are below average at best. So what to do besides get on a plane to get on another plane to get on another plane to get Mexico? ( flying from Boise isn't the easiest ) Go to Eaperanza's Bakery tucked away in the corner by the Wal-Mart in Caldwell. Yes, we drive from Meridian to Caldwell and most the time we stay right on Ustick. The drive may be too far for some and all I have to say is " More for me!! " It's a small unpretentious bakery. Grab your pizza pan and tongs and start loading up. Everything's made fresh and the prices are very affordable. You can get all sorts of other bakery goods like torta rolls, Bolilos and even tamales. If you want the tamales better call ahead, they sell out in minutes. The staff is friendly and nice. Afraid to go because your Spanish is limited to " Tacos " and " Burritos " no worries, the counter lady, I would assume,Esperanza, speaks and understands English. My sister told me about this bakery, for there xmas tamales. We ordered 3 dozen tamales. The chicken tamales had more dough then chicken. The pork tamales where better the cheese where actually really good and I don't like cheese tamales. But their bread is really good.
