How this place has a 3 star is beyond me. We were staying at the Great Wolf Lodge just down the street and did not want to eat their overpriced food, so we decided to look elsewhere. At first I did not want Mexican food since I eat it all the time, but after walking into the indian spot close by and smelling it, we ran straight to Estrellas. My mother-in-law and I were going to buy food here while my husband and kids bought food elsewhere. They allowed them to still eat with us, which was nice. Unfortunately, their fryer was not working that day, so we couldnt get anything that had to be fried. We ended up both getting the Asada plate. We went to sit down and wait for our food, but not before we stopped at the salsa bar. We were off to a great start cause they had plenty of options, including pico de gallo, avocado salsa, cucumbers, radishes, and many more things. The location was extremely clean, with a lady coming by every 5-10 mins cleaning up anything people dropped or plates people were done with. The Asada plates came with side salad, rice, beans, and a grilled nopal and green onions. It was all absolutely delicious!! The salsas were so fresh and cut through the savory on the plate. This was the first time that I had gone to this restaurant. My wife has been here a couple times and wanted to go. They have a salsa bar, which was nice. They were pretty fast with getting us the food. It's kind of small in there and there's not a lot of seating so maybe going off peak hours might be easier if you're looking for a quick bite. While passing through Manteca we stopped at La Estella for lunch. The ordering process seemed to take a little longer than usual. The rotating menus are annoying cause you have to wait if you missed something. I ordered the Quesabirria Tacos Plate. It came with rice and beans. They were delish!!!!!! The register is directly in front of you, The salsa bar is to the right of the register and seating is to the right. Staff was super friendly, I was trying to find something that the babes could eat that wasn't spicy and they warned me that both the red and green sauces are both spicy. Went on a weeknight and picked up a kids enchilada and on recommendation from a coworker, one of their super quesadillas. Chips are included and they have a salsa bar with lots of fresh options. We were taking our food to go, so I packed up several salsas to take with me. I was also warned by my coworker that their super quesadilla was huge so I ordered one to share with the Hubbs. They use a giant burrito tortilla and stuff it with meat and cheese, making it enormous. The Hubbs took one bite and said no way too spicy. I ended up having it for dinner and lunch the next day, and still couldn't finish all of it. If you like the spicy stuff and you like a variety of salsas, this is a great place for you. read more

Every single time I order from this restaurant through Uber Eats, there is some kind of issue. I've dealt with missing items, food arriving half-cooked, food arriving cold, and now my most recent order was apparently given to the wrong driver. At this point, it has become a consistent pattern rather than an occasional mistake. I understand that mistakes happen in any restaurant, but when there is a problem with every order, it shows a serious lack of attention to detail and quality control. Customers pay good money for their meals and should be able to expect their orders to be prepared correctly and checked before they leave the restaurant. The staff needs to do a better job verifying orders, ensuring food is cooked properly, and making sure the correct driver receives the correct order. Management also needs to be more involved in overseeing daily operations to prevent these repeated mistakes from happening. I'm extremely frustrated because I genuinely wanted to support this restaurant, but after so many negative experiences, it's hard to have confidence in ordering again. Okay what?? This place had no right being this good! My husband and I came here while visiting from out of town, and I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting much, but as soon as we started eating the complimentary chips and salsa I told my husband that I hoped it was a foreshadowing of the food - and oh boy was it! honestly upset! i split a quesarbirria taco in half to share with my son to try and I chewed something that felt hard so I spit it out and seen something that looked like a staple but to my surprise it was a wired white twist tie that was probably a tie to a tortilla bag. I'm glad my 8 year old didn't eat the taco and im glad I spit the wire out and didn't get it stuck in my throat or swallow it and have serious or fatal medical problems. The menu was on the wall and was a video, so it was a little difficult just trying to read the menu. But luckily we were able to figure it out and I had some beef crunchy tacos with rice and beans. My wife had shredded chicken crunchy tacos with rice and beans. The beef was cooked to perfection and had a great flavor, rice was great too which I'm pretty picky about. I tried his fries and they were the absolute worst fries I have ever had. He tried both his torta and fries and took about 3 bites and couldn't anymore as he said it was not good and was upsetting his stomach. My camarones a la diabla were okay, the sauce was not traditional but not too bad I did like the spice. The only thing I will say is the michelada was one of the best ones I've had. The green salsa and pickled onions were also very good. We ate her on Sunday and by the time we came home my partner was not feeling well. We've come to this location multiple times and unfortunately they don't offer Carne Asada Soft Tacos for Taco Tuesday while the other La Estrella locations do. It is the same chain but it's weird they have differences in their menu offerings. Instead I had the Al Pastor which was decent but again just disappointing Carne Asada is available at other locations for Taco Tuesday but not this one. Came here for lunch. It is much smaller on the inside than I thought it would be. Staff were very friendly and nice while taking our order and when we were seated. The menu is very hard to read as it is above the counter and is digital and changes. Just about everyone ordering would give up waiting for the menu to change and just ask if they had certain things. I did notice that the prices on the digital board are less than what we were charged. An example would be the drink that states $3.25 on the board but we got charged $4.99. I truthfully don't know what my meal costed on the board because I wasn't patient enough to wait for it. Chips and salsa were very good. Salsa had a kick to it and was very good. I ordered two crispy tacos, rice and beans and it tasted great. It's hard to find beans that taste good but these were great. My husband got the super burrito and loved it. We spent about $40. My only reason for taking a star away is the tables inside. There isn't a lot of room and they have packed too many booths in there. The booths move and when someone sits down, they can push their booth out to make more room, but this causes the other booths to have less room. By the time we sat down, there were only two booths empty and they were extremely close. We pushed our booth out and it caused the remaining booth to not have any space left. We were tightly packed into our booth but those who got to the booths before us had a lot more room. An extremely skinny man came to grab the last booth, but he couldn't fit.
