This was the first time that I had gone to this restaurant. My wife has been here a couple times and wanted to go. They have a salsa bar, which was nice. They were pretty fast with getting us the food. It's kind of small in there and there's not a lot of seating so maybe going off peak hours might be easier if you're looking for a quick bite. Overall, this was a good experience and I would go back. We don't live in this city so I'm not sure when I'll be able to get back, but I would go.

How this place has a 3 star is beyond me. We were staying at the Great Wolf Lodge just down the street and did not want to eat their overpriced food, so we decided to look elsewhere. At first I did not want Mexican food since I eat it all the time, but after walking into the indian spot close by and smelling it, we ran straight to Estrellas. My mother-in-law and I were going to buy food here while my husband and kids bought food elsewhere. They allowed them to still eat with us, which was nice. Unfortunately, their fryer was not working that day, so we couldnt get anything that had to be fried. We ended up both getting the Asada plate. We went to sit down and wait for our food, but not before we stopped at the salsa bar. We were off to a great start cause they had plenty of options, including pico de gallo, avocado salsa, cucumbers, radishes, and many more things. The location was extremely clean, with a lady coming by every 5-10 mins cleaning up anything people dropped or plates people were done with. The Asada plates came with side salad, rice, beans, and a grilled nopal and green onions. It was all absolutely delicious!! The salsas were so fresh and cut through the savory on the plate. It was extremely filling, and my mother-in-law ate the entire plate (she never does that, usually takes half home, so you know it was GOOD).

the cheesed is microwave on top of the fries , and overpriced for 15$

Cheese is microwaved on top of fries this the worst carne asada fries I ever had , for the price this is a joke won't be coming here ever again

While passing through Manteca we stopped at La Estella for lunch. The ordering process seemed to take a little longer than usual. The rotating menus are annoying cause you have to wait if you missed something. I ordered the Quesabirria Tacos Plate. It came with rice and beans. They were delish!!!!!! My youngest wanted French Fries (delicious but $9!!!). We also took advantage of the chips and salsa bar in the back. Yum! My only complaint is that the AC was not on or broken and it was hot inside!

Had it as a take out. Serving was good. You can get salsa choices to go too. Nothing extra ordinary service on my end since we had a take out. It is loud and packed. It took them more than 30 minutes wait for our orders.

First off I smelled the food from outside and instantly needed to be inside. I ordered to go and took the nachos all the way to Oakland (at the crispy taco in the car) I was impressed with the fresh salsa bar but the hospitality upon entry and as I waited for my food everyone was greeted with the same warmth me and my husband received, The food was sooooo good even on the move we cannot wait to come back to dine in! - Happy Yelpin

Been here several times. Place is always packed, but clean. After trying different menu items, I'd say this: stick with the seafood items. They are the best thing on the menu. I've ordered a chicken super burrito before, and it was the driest I have ever eaten. Salsa couldn't even save it.

There's no short supply of Mexican eateries in Manteca and La Estrella has three locations so I figured it must be pretty good. You walk in and you're greeted right away. The register is directly in front of you, The salsa bar is to the right of the register and seating is to the right. Staff was super friendly, I was trying to find something that the babes could eat that wasn't spicy and they warned me that both the red and green sauces are both spicy. Went on a weeknight and picked up a kids enchilada and on recommendation from a coworker, one of their super quesadillas. Chips are included and they have a salsa bar with lots of fresh options. We were taking our food to go, so I packed up several salsas to take with me. I was also warned by my coworker that their super quesadilla was huge so I ordered one to share with the Hubbs. They use a giant burrito tortilla and stuff it with meat and cheese, making it enormous. The Hubbs took one bite and said no way too spicy. I ended up having it for dinner and lunch the next day, and still couldn't finish all of it. If you like the spicy stuff and you like a variety of salsas, this is a great place for you.

I think this is my husband's favorite restaurant. These two items is what he always orders and it never disappoints him. The staff are always so friendly and we absolutely love there agua de pepino. The restaurant is constantly being cleaned. The salsa bar is being replenished and tidied up.

This was a solid 4 star taqueria style place located in Manteca, Ca in a pretty good sized strip mall. If you read my reviews of Mexican places I always go after the chips and salsa 1st. Chips were pretty good salsa's were amazing! The selection was also amazing and you can tell these are all homemade in house plus the other condiments like pickled onions, jalapeño's, serranos and other items were top notch! Food selection was also really good and I wasn't feeling seafood for lunch but they also have a great selection of that as well. For me I had the El Pastor super burrito bowl. This was really good! The pastor meat top notch and great combination of flavors. Plus service I would also give top notch for a taqueria the nice ladies walk around and check on you making sure everything is ok and if you need anything else. I would and will for sure come back.

We tried the chilaquiles (green), machaca plate, a relleno, and one taco pastor. We also tried several of their salsas. The avocado salsa was by far their best. Now for the food. Chilaquiles a 6: nice crunchy chips , but the tartness of the sauce overpowered everything. I felt like I bit into a lemon; definitely missing something to add balance to the flavor. The Machaca a 6 : dry and missing flavor The relleno a7: it was decent The taco 7: a little dry but it was enough. Probably won't come back

I was initially hesitant about the chicharrones since they cost $5.00 each and looked a little old. I asked if they were fresh, and they assured me they were. The nice lady convinced me to get a half pound for $10.00, which is usually about three pieces. Surprisingly, when I got home and opened the box, I found a few extra pieces--thank you! Unfortunately, the pieces were really tough, and even with a sharp knife, they were hard to cut. The flavor overall was good; I just wish I could've eaten them when they were soft and tender. The other highlight was the fresh homemade corn tortillas that came with the whole chicken I purchased. The chicken cost $23.00, which is expensive, but it was definitely worth it. The smoky flavor was delicious, and the tortillas were great. The last thing I'll mention is that their salsa bar had a nice variety of choices. The pork belly chicharrones aren't a deal breaker for me. I'll give this place another try, and try some of their other options. I encourage anyone interested to do the same.

But the recent changes to the Monday/Wednesday happy hour tacos caught me off guard. The deal now requires everyone at the table to buy alcohol, not just one person -- and the tacos themselves have gotten smaller, too. I don't really have a problem with the alcohol policy itself; that's pretty standard for happy hour. What got me was the service. I sat at the bar for nearly 20 minutes and the bartender ignored me the whole time -- no greeting, no heads-up about the new policy, nothing. Had someone just told me, I would've sat in the dining room from the start. No signage, no note on the menu, no acknowledgment at the bar. All around, a disappointing experience.
