This is my favorite bar in Old San Juan. They have a few different bars and each of them have their own signature cocktail menus which I found to be really fun. The bartenders here really know what their doing. Every drink I got was unique and unlike anything I've had before. I just love the vibe of this place because it's kind of perfect no matter the type of night you want to have. When you walk in, the room is perfect for just chilling, talking and having a drink with friends. But if you want to dance, the "hidden" room inside is perfect for that too. La Factoría was such an amazing experience for a night out in Old San Juan. If I was to choose anywhere to go this would be it. It has 6 different rooms, each with their own music and theme. Took a tour of all, then had an amazing crafted Daiquiri in the Cuban room. We ended up in the Salsa room where we spent most of the night. The salsa dancing was amazing to watch and do, and the crowd was busy but not pushy or rude. Love it and will definitely go back. This is technically one of the top 24 bars in the world to grab a crafted cocktail. read more

Considering the many hits bars in Puerto Rico have taken over the past two years I'm shocked this bar is still in business with how mean the service appears to be. My experience may be unique but I found even the fast food in San Juan to be better in terms of at least politeness compared to this entitled bunch. Has a strange policy that you have to be 23 to enter. Grad school adults beware! La Factoria is a good time. The bartenders are very skilled and the drinks live up to the hype. When my friends and I visited there were 6 bars open and we ordered something from each bar! The bars open as the place becomes more crowded so depending upon the number of people inside there can be 1-7 different barrooms open. Each room has a different theme/music salsa, hip hop, etc. My favorite was the goth room with the coolest bartender and music. Ahh, La Factoria. Coolest bar I've been to in a while. 3 separate rooms, all different vibes, different music, and different cocktail menus. The cocktails we had were all good. We found the front room had the least inventive ones, but they were not bad at all, and all of the cocktails were around $9 or so which was an amazing deal I thought. The back room is the biggest, which had dancing and by the end of the night, a live band. The place wasn't super crowded, but definitely busy, and sometimes could take a minute or two to get a drink. Bartenders were friendly and could tell had a passion for their craft. Only issue I have - why aren't the systems connected?? If you leave a tab open at one bar, you either need to close it out before going to another area, or open up another tab with a different credit card. Not a huge issue, just didn't make sense to me. read more

Consistently ranked as one of the top bars in the world, La Factoría is a unique experience. It looks like a dive bar from outside, but once you enter, you're magically transported into an alternate reality, where it's all good. Although LF has six bars, two are currently under renovation. The remaining bars are usually packed, with a wait to enter. As an OSJ resident, I have no tolerance for waiting in line with tourists, so I try to visit during off-peak hours, when there's no wait. Each bar features its own unique vibe, allowing you to enjoy the environment that suits your mood. All the bartenders are skilled mixologists and they're friendly and accommodating. They change up the drink list frequently and there are different drinks available at each bar. On a recent visit, I tried the Lavender Mule, the Spiced Old Fashion and the Champeta, all of which were excellent. Although La Factoría is mainly a bar, it does have a kitchen as well, and the food is actually quite good. They're famous for their fish tacos and I can confirm that the tacos are very good. I've also tried the sliders, which were so-so and the fried pickles, served with a jalapeño dipping sauce. I'm the kind of person who actually reads the nutritional labels and I have no doubt, the fried pickles were the most unhealthy food I've eaten this year. But if I could read the label, I'd find some way to justify consuming them daily. Yeah, they're that good. Finally, I'd like to give props to Carlos, who's both a bartender and a manager. He took care of me in the front bar, during my last visit and was super-friendly and really made me feel at home. read more

The only downfall was the drinks were just subpar. They were decently priced but man if your used to craft cocktails these didn't hit the mark. Loved this place. Came here during the first day of Sanse and all the rooms were open. The lavender mule was absolutely amazing. Obviously you probably already know its rated as one of the top bars, lavender mule is legendary and Despacito was filmed here. Had the food too in the second room that was very good. Don't recall what we had. The last room had some dancing that went into the night. The second room where we had the mules and food had windows open to the street and we were able to watch the parade from there. There's plenty of hype around La Factoría, as it's featured on The World's 50 Best Bars, and came recommended by a number of people. We made our way here on a rainy Old San Juan night. There is no sign which can be confusing at first, but it's located right on the corner and the windows were open, revealing a nice crowd inside. La Factoría is multiple bars in one! There's the main bar at the entrance, but walk through the swinging doors and you'll find a smaller, more intimate, wine bar type space with bites and drinks. From there, keep making your way back to the largest space of all that becomes a dance floor as the night progresses. Love to salsa? This spot is for you! I think there may be one other room, but it wasn't open during the time we were there. We tried a few drinks. The lavender mule was just as delicious as it sounds! At one point, I asked a bartender in the middle room to make me a whiskey drink and the outcome was amazing. They pack a punch, too! As the night went on, we switched to beer which was readily available (and cheaper than your cocktails). This is definitely a must for a night out! We only made it one time as our trip was quick, but I'd love to come back again and again. read more

The bar tender is very good at what he does. He tended to over 20 people without skipping a beat. I wasn't sure what I wanted and asked for recommendation. I went during Covid restrictions so only 3 out of the 7 rooms were open and you weren't allowed to walk through the rooms freely. I've have been to La Factoria several times and feel like it's a must go for every visit to PR. We came on a Friday night and were able to secure 2 seats immediately at the main bar adjacent to the entrance. In true fashion, the staff was friendly and the hand crafted cocktails were delicious. We ordered the Mercado Roma which was Mezcal, Ancho Piña Shrub, Grapefruit , Lime, Clove, Honey, Angostura.
