Rabbit Confit Pastry in Bone Marrow & Truffle Reduction with Greens
    Cory R.

So many people told me to go to Pio Pio for dinner that I had to try it. The menu was small and perfect. The chef and kitchen prepare EVERYTHING homemade in front of you at the bar! The service staff was incredibly professional and very friendly. I tried a lot of things, but the rabbit confit pastry was the finest dish I can even remember eating!!! I eat well a lot, but I cannot stress how singular the entire dining experience was at Pio Pio!

Very interesting and creative place. They are working at high level gastronomy here. We had the lobster rolls, tataki/crudo, and "wellington". It was a good creative meal. The space is a bit small. I am happy how they insist no soda is available in the restaurant, that is quite authentic. Positive experience. Insta @eljefede53

There's a reason why Pio Pio in Old San Juan is rated so highly. The entire experience was phenomenal. This spot is a small, intimate space with a few tables and the chef's counter. We did the "Playlist" tasting menu at the chef's counter. It was amazing to watch all of our courses prepared in such a tight space--truly amazing. I don't remember all of the courses, but my favorite had to be the tuna crudo. It was so flavorful and perfectly balanced. I was also blown away by the rabbit confit dish (forgot to take a picture)--it reminded me of a beef Wellington with the perfect crust. The desserts were also delicious. I had the profiteroles with a hazelnut-praline filling topped with chocolate sauce. I also want to add that the service throughout our experience was top-notch. We were really taken care of the entire time. Our nightcap included a complimentary glass of pitorro (Puerto Rican moonshine rum), which was too good! I would not hesitate to come back here again if traveling back to San Juan.

We tried this restaurant on our first night in San Juan - will be difficult to top as this was amazing! We did the tasting menu and every one of the dishes served was delicious and beautifully presented. Sitting at the long bar allowed us to see the chefs in action - dinner and a show! Everyone was friendly and welcoming and the wines were delicious and cocktails inventive. The space was cozy and NY chic. Definitely not to miss!

After eating in a 5 star restaurant nearby we held our hunger a little to have dessert and drinks at this place. WOW WOW WOWOWYYYYYWAAAA!!! Was this worth it? ABSOLUTLEY!!! To begin, the service here is 100% perfect! Being such a small place, the attention to detail to the place and quality of service does not disappoint by any means. From the decorations and perfect room temperature, the staff was an all time best. The food. Ooohhh the delicious desserts. The Passion Fruit mousse with those delicious fried pistachios; or the home made chocolate ice cream cakes, or the strawberry mousse!! I'm mixing flavors! I will not break this down to you. If its hard to explain how bitcoin works, the taste is the exact complex exquisiteness! The drinks are made just right, the food is cooked right in front of you if you sit at the bar for now). This hidden gem is something that could trend rapidly. Heads up Yelp!

Vacation in Puerto Rico isn't fun unless you indulge in the culture and beverages. From wine to rum to beer you won't be upset. This place was a phenomenal wine bar and it all started with my girl Lau. She was so cool and let us try so much stuff until we decided on buying a bottle and sitting and talking while we enjoyed our evening. This place isn't that big and might have a little trouble fitting large(7-9) people at a time. My group was 5 deep so we were fine . This place is a vibe and I'd recommend it to anyone looking to explore some good wine on a night out.

If I could rate it with more stars, I would. It's a small and mighty menu served here. I won't ruin it for you, but if you like having a spiritual experience with wine, I couldn't recommend it more.

Here are some notes from tonight as I am reminscing from the couch (because food coma). - The food was unique and imaginative. While the place is upscale, it's not uptight, the vibe is great. The service staff is friendly and unobtrusive. - We loved the food for the most part, especially the lobster rolls and the conch with coconut sauce. The presentation was flawless. The portions are bigger than we thought, so we ordered too much. - Def recommended for a dinner night out with some delicious cocktails and a refined selection of wines.

Is it possible to give a place with a world class experience more stars? I'm a wine lover and I appreciate learning about the wine I'm drinking. We stumbled upon this location while vacationing in PR. A gem of a find that provided us with so much more than the price of tasting amazing wine. We loved it so much we went twice. This establishment provides small plates that we didn't sample because we were there both times between meals. They gave us unlimited small bowls of citrus flavored popcorn. Yummy! However I can attest that their passion for wine and the knowledge that they shared with us was memorable and inspiring. When we return to Ole San Juan we will return again. I didn't catch the owners name but she spent a lot of time with us and other patrons even though on our second visit the establishment got quite busy. I encourage you to support this small, woman-owned business. You won't be disappointed.

Upscale place. Great service - friendly and professional (leading us to overtip, with pleasure). Good prices. A nice place for a drink. The food looked good but . . . well, it wasn't cheap and we'd already eaten our fill at a few of the other great places in the area.

Great service and delicious wine. Definitely get the crumpets. We came on a hot Thursday at 5pm with a reservation. They were very accommodating to us and our 5 lb dog "as long as our dog wouldn't bark at people". Our dog slept quietly next to me. Ask them for their wine specials! Their blanc de blancs are delicious. Also best ice cream sandwich I've had in the US!

It's a cozy little restaurant that was perfect for our recent short stay in Old San Juan. I was impressed with the wine list, which featured sparkling, white, orange, rose, and red options by the glass and of course a more extensive list of bottles. I opted for two different sparkling options, a Pineau d'Aunis (rose) from the Loire Valley (strawberry notes) and a Verdeca (white) from Puglia (melon, white flowers). I drink a lot of wine and have never heard of these grapes at all, so they were fun to check out and delicious to boot. We also tried a number of different bites. They were all good, but these were the most memorable: Apio gnocchi - delightfully pillowy and nutty Dulce de papaya and prosciutto - lightly sweet and savory all at once. This might be an even better version of the more popular prosciutto and melon dish. Partamra olive oil cake - so lemony and moist Beet ice cream - this was wild! For sure my first time trying beet ice cream. It was barely sweet and had a very thick, almost custard-like texture. Special shout out to the staff, who were all so nice and chill and knowledgeable.

The food was some of the most delicious food ive ever tasted, especially the risotto (10/10). There was one dish that my girlfriend didnt like but they went immediately to get her something new. Im only giving a 4 star because the dessert i had did have something I was allergic to despite reassurance which cause swollen lips and throwing up outside. We got here on Sunday night and for about half and hour we were the only customers. The Sangria selection is simply overwhelming, there are about 80 Sangrías to choose from. They also have a selection of tapas, which you can "mix and match" through their sampler menu. We ordered the Sangria sampler which contained six different Sangrías (3oz each) for $18 and the mini food sampler (3 types) for $15. The sangria flavours that we ordered were: grape, passionfruit, coconut, guava, coffee and tamarind. As for the food, we ordered the Queso Frito, Guayaba Empanadillas and Chicken Alcapurrias. Each of the food items came in servings of five. I really appreciate the waitress's effort to explain the menu, as well as the food items to us. It wasn't necessary, as we would've figured out a way out but she was attentive and informative. I must say that upon arriving here, I expected some homemade sangria. Surely I didn't expect all 80 flavours to be made in-house, but I wasn't ready for the realization that all 80 flavours came from store-bought and sourced bottles. When we got the sampler, I was surprised by how overwhelmingly sweet the Sangrías were and the lack of fresh fruit flavour. The food was pretty good, I especially loved the saltiness of the queso frito. My suggestion for the owners is to start selling house-made sangria as nothing will ever beat the fresh-made taste. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the variety of flavours, as well as the service.

I came here to celebrate my birthday and unfortunately, they fell short in every possible category. The layout is a major issue. We paid the $10 per person fee for the piano room, only to be squeezed in elbow-to-elbow with strangers. The tables are so tiny I literally had to eat out of my lap to avoid spilling food on my clothes. Even the basic facilities were a struggle; the women's bathroom was so cramped and unaccommodating that I could barely even sit down. When we asked to move to a more comfortable space, the hostess and waitress refused, citing nearby reservations. The kitchen and service were equally disappointing. After waiting over an hour for our entrees, the food arrived mediocre and tasteless. The steak had zero seasoning, and the mashed potatoes were dry and flavorless--essentially just a boiled potato thrown on a plate. The service was the final straw. When I tried to flag down a server to send the potatoes back, he told me he would "get her." When our waitress finally arrived, I explained the issue and she simply replied, "I know." No apology, no offer to bring something else, and no effort to make it right. To be met with that level of rudeness on my birthday was shocking. This was a complete waste of time and money--I won't be returning.
