This was not a great experience. When I entered the restaurant I was snapped at by a women "how many", one was my answer. The women snapped back "downstairs", she eventually pointed to the corner like I was an idiot for not knowing where downstairs was! I ordered a beer, which I would not have done had I known it was going to be $5.00 for 12oz bottle! I am from the CA central valley we have hundreds of Mexican Restaurants, I cannot remember paying 5 bucks for a bottle beer! The menu is confusing, I wish now I had taken a photo to post and reference. Seems you have large combo's and small combo's that are the same price just with less stuff. And then there is another higher price if you want shredded meat. When I opened the menu it had the dining history of the last five customers stuck to it, pretty discusting! I ordered a Chilli Colorado, mainly because I could not understand the combo's on the menu and I could not get any of the servers attention to ask, they seemed more concerned with a family table that they knew. It was just okay, it did have lean beef like a Colorado is supposed to have so a star for that! The sauce was very thin and runny on a huge plate, not a huge portion though by any means. I had whole beans instead of re-fried beans, they were okay but seemed to have an earthy after taste! It definitely was not worth $17.99, the most I have ever paid for Chilli Colorado! All in all I would not recomend this place based on my one and final visit. There just has to be a better Mexican Restaurant in Fallon. With two beers and the meal costing 27.99 pre tax and tip, $35.72 after tip and tax this is the most I ever paid for this type of meal in a mediocre Mexican restaurant! read more

Been awhile since I've been here (once during Covid) and have visited many times somewhat reluctantly. Would give 2 1/2 stars if option was available. Grew up eating Tex-Mex and agree there are much better options in town for Mexican-style cuisine sans the cantina atmosphere. The cantina would be a factor in one's visit I imagine based on the positive feedback I've heard. Group visit here once and opted for the cheeseburger which was very good. For some reason, the food now is so bland and flavorless we literally had to pour the chip salsas on everything to have even a hint of Mexican flavor. I've been going to La fiesta since I moved to fallon in 2018. It's definitely been an ever changing experience each visit. Sometimes it's great! But other times it's not so great. The salsa is the best thing, they did change the recipe for a while and it was terrible, but it's back to the way it was before. The food is usually pretty decent. The service varies a lot. Sometimes they are friendly and attentive, other times they are rude and unwelcoming. We tried La Fiesta because it was recommended by a hotel receptionist. The food was mediocre to bad--dried out and crunchy rice, beans tasted slightly rancid, the taco had mushy and odd-tasting meat in it, the enchilada was about like one you would get in a TV dinner. The carnitas meat tasted pretty good but didn't have the broiled crispiness that I associate with carnitas. The waiter was surly and other people we saw working there acted unfriendly. This was just not a Mexican restaurant I am used to on the East coast-which is what I expected for a West-ish coast restaurant. They brought out cabbage salsa along with the regular salsa and chips. Really interesting addition. The chips were a little thin and well done for my taste but the cabbage salsa was spectacular. We ordered a Nachoes to split and OMG-they were huge! Lots of cheese, beans and delicious all over. I ordered the Pollo Asado and was not in the least bit disappointed-so much food! I only ate one slice of chicken out of 3, but I did have to tell the waiter again I wanted corn tortillas-he brought out flour with it. Second time here. Came for lunch while visiting family, ate downstairs in the bar. Didn't even realize there was a downstairs. Liked it. It was calmer that upstairs, and the bar is quite attractive. The usual accompaniments were fine. The beer was cold. Our waiter, Francisco, was correctly attentive, efficient and personable. And while I didn't really quiz them, the other guests seemed to enjoy their meals. I ordered the Chicken Mole. For me, it's a litmus test item, like a Rueben sandwich in a diner. And for me, it failed. The chicken was cooked perfectly, pulled from the bone and tender. The sauce had a good flavor. I might say there was almost too much sauce, but I like to sop it up with the rice, and hate it when places skimp. But here's the deal. I failed to detect even a hint of cocoa in the dish, and to me, that's a deal breaker. I'm not a "real" Mexican, nor have I ever consumed real Mexican food in Mexico. Maybe it's just an U.S. aberration. But I have eaten it in many restaurants where most of the staff was speaking Spanish. And if you google six recipes, it's unlikely that you'll find any that don't call for some form of cocoa or chocolate. So that's what I expect, and that's what I enjoy, and this didn't do it for me. read more

We went to La Fiesta on Wednesday 5/27/2020. We have been there several times before the pandemic and as always the food was excellent. My request is that there be more effort put into conforming to the COVID 19 requirements to keep customers and servers safe from contracting the virus. The following issues were noticed: Servers not wearing masks Condiments were left on the table - they should be kept in the back and wiped off after customers use them, Table was dirty - these and the chairs need to be cleaned between customers Normal menus were used and therefore handled by multiple customers and servers. I believe the requirement is that disposable menus or electronic menus be used. Please keep your senior customers and those that are most susceptible to the virus in mind. We love your food but will not return for a while because we don't feel safe in going there. read more

We came here for dinner on our way out of Fallon. We chose this place because of the reviews here on Yelp! We were seated right away and had some really good salsa and cabbage. Then a margarita! I ordered the beef taco salad. It was ok, but not all that great. The meat was kind of too wet? Weird I don't know. I've never had meat like that before and it kind of just threw the whole thing off. It would have been better if it was cooked a bit more or thrown around in a skillet to dry out a bit or something. I think I was expecting it to be like asada but it was something else. Anyhow, not quite what I wanted but that's not really their fault I guess! We were passing through on Sunday June 6, returning home after 17 days on the road. Patrons leaving the restaurant told us we were in for a treat. That turned out to be true. The staff were happy; they made us feel welcome and treated us as if we were royalty, which felt really good after Ely to Fallon. My wife had the Pollo Asada, and I elected the Chili Colorado. By the way the menu posted on yelp is outdated, add 15-20% to the prices you see on the pictures. I love Mexican food, and I know how fancy some can get with their dishes, but I also know that an oversized portion of rice, beans and a couple tortillas are NOT worth $16! I understand their portions are big, but Their small portions were only 50¢ cheaper than their regular entrees. Even their appetizers were close to $20, so I still think this place is a rip-off. Went there on a busy Friday night and it did not disappoint! From the beautiful candles as we walked in to the friendly server and Manager, our meal was wonderful.
