Absolute joke. We had scheduled a party here over a month in advance. Came in twice to confirm date and time prior to the party. The day of the party, no tables, no section. We were promised a certain area, they gave it away to another party. They offered no solution. We waited for over 1/2 an hour after our scheduled time to get seated. This was my sister's 50th bday and our schedule centered around a limo, time lost with that as well. Don't recommend. read more

Pulled into the parking lot, it was full. Expected to wait a bit for a table but we (party of 3) were seated right away. The restaurant is so large you felt like you were the only ones in there. Our waiter came over right away to get our drinks and gave us a few mins to look over the menu. Chips and salsa brought out with our drinks. Chips were nice and crispy and salsa has a little kick to it. Love the restaurant style salsa. I ordered the tacos and it came with a side of beans and rice. Came with three tacos, I picked chicken. It was so much food I only eat one taco and some beans. The rice was ok, not my favorite thing at restaurants but I did try it. Not sure if they are short staffed because our waiter brought the bill before we even finished and was right there again when we placed our cards on the table. Thursday night it is very busy yet we are seated immediately and served warm fresh chips and salsa immediately. Regular margaritas (12 ounces) were strong and tasted great only $2.99 each. Bumped up to 4 stars--I've been here several times since my last review, usually ordering the "Chicken & Cheese" dish (only place I've ever been to that calls it that) and it has always been good. Chicken has always been hot and properly cooked, salsa picosa is great as usual, and everything has come out fast and hot. read more

It was very busy for a Tuesday night, and I ordered a fajita taco salad with steak. I have to say, it was the best taco salad i have ever had . Most places make them way too big - too much food and too much lettuce (which is cheap) - this one was just the right size, served on a hot plate. Also, at a lot of places by the time I get the taco salad, the tortilla shell is soft and mushy. This one was crisp and just tasted really good. Just okay. Chips seemed like they were from a bag and just heated. Definitely not homemade. The food took what seemed like forever to arrive, approximately 45 minutes to an hour. Seemed like there were plenty of workers so not sure what took so long. Also, it's very noisy in there. Difficult to even carry in a conversation with those at your table. You had me at $2 margaritas! My family was in town with me on a business trip and we gave this place a try as it was recommended by a friend and also it was very close to our hotel. It did not disappoint. The 3 of shared a bunch of things and the wife and I enjoyed their delicious margarita special. I love that they have a large outdoor patio. We were there on a perfect day and it was so nice to be able to enjoy the great weather. Our server was so friendly and she gave amazing recommendations. This has always been our go to restaurant for Mexican in Springfield. The food isn't amazing but consistent. Last night was our first really bad experience. I ordered a margarita with Tito's vodka which I have done there many times before. No vodka in the drink at all. Both my husband and I tasted it. The young waiter brought over another employee who lied to me and said he watched them put Tito's in my drink. I'm 65 and I think I know when my drink has zero alcohol. They ruined my birthday. Yelp doesn't allow zero stars. Margarita had neither tequila nor lime juice. Salsa tastes from a bottle. The worst is the speakers. Tried to sit on patio but my wife and I couldn't hear ourselves over the speaker. Moved to a hi-top in bar, but music was even louder. Not sure how that is possible. In town for softball and wasn't expecting much but man was their food and service great!!! I was curious whether I could get a good Mexican meal in Springfield. After all, you can get very good Mexican food in Chicago, which is only three hours away. After checking the internet, I realized that the pickings were slim. I picked La Fiesta because it had a good number of positive reviews on Yelp, and apparently few bad ones. I arrived on a Saturday night and the place was very busy and rushed. The staff was running around like crazy. I ordered the chicken with mole sauce, which is usually one of my favorite dishes. My wife ordered a vegetarian fajitas, which I already thought was a mistake. What I received was a grilled chicken fillet lightly drizzled with a very thin and uninteresting sauce. My wife got a lot of food, but the grilled vegetables were tasteless. The rice and beans were OK, and the margaritas were large, potent and reasonably priced. Although we didn't order the usual burritos, tacos, etc. that might have been most peoples choice, I did leave with the the feeling that this was another Mexican restaurant that tries excessively to appeal to "American" tastes. Friendly staff. About the only plus about the place. Authentic Mexican food is among my top favorite foods. I got Tacos de Carne Asada. It came with beans that appeared, smelled, and tasted like it was out of a can. I'm not saying it was from a can-- I don't know that for sure, but it was definitely my first thought when I looked at it, then smelled it, and even when I tasted it. Corn tortillas smelled kinda weird. Carne asada was okay. Salsa also seemed like it was out of a can with fresh onion and cilantro added. Overall, not into it.. Normally a Mexican restaurant is more than speedy at lunch. On this day we waited approx. 15 minutes after he took our order for our food. When it arrived - the 2 girls had the lunch chicken fajitas, they both said they were very good. I had the combination, 1 taco, enchilada, & rice. Just OK. Yelp needs to fix this! There are negative reviews of La Fiesta from before it closed down due to an ICE raid. It was not very good at that time! A former waiter now owns it and two other restaurants and the food and service is phenomenal. The name was changed from La Fiesta to La Fiesta Grande. Maybe if the reviews prior to June 2017 were removed, people would get a better idea of what this place is like.
