I had visited this restaurant many times in the past but today's experience was horrible. First, the service was slow. Second, the prices charged were not accurately reflected on the menu. Once I arrived at the register to pay for my meal, I saw a sign that said prices had increased by 3.9%. There was no notice on the menu and nothing was said by the waitress. The 3.9% increase will not break me, but it is a reflection of a lack of integrity. Third, I had ordered a meal with the expectation that I would take a portion of it home with me, but at the end of the meal when I asked for a carryout box, I was told they had none. They only had a little box smaller than would be necessary to fit a tiny hamburger in. I find it very hard to believe that there were no carry out boxes bigger available because what would they do if someone ordered a full meal for carryout? Overall, just a really poor experience. Really poor customer service. A complete lack of integrity and attention to detail. I won't return. read more

The few times I've been in we've always sat in the bar area, which can be a loud and busy, but it's still a nice ambiance. The waiters/waitresses are always very nice and service is super quick. However! The food is pretty mediocre. Everything I've gotten here is unfortunately super overcooked and pretty tasteless. I've gotten the chicken mole (my favourite thing ever), the fajitas, the carne asada....everything super overcooked, tough, and bleh. And they don't have horchata? Classic Mexican restaurant with a few Tex mex items tossed in. We ordered the fajitas and they are big. Great value. My only complaint is that the margaritas have no price on the menu (even if you get the well alcohol). I ask because I've been burned before. The regular was $8- completely reasonable. I need to preface this by saying I am a Mexican Food purist and snob. I have lived in Southern California since 1969. I have lived in San Diego since 1983 so I've gotten closer and closer to Mexico. I have global entry and spend a lot of time in Baja wine tasting and enjoying the culture. I do not eat Mexican Food outside of California, Arizona and Nevada. I find TexMex offensive. I love Mexican Food, can eat it daily and over the course of my life it has become my comfort food. Here is what worked and didn't about Los Rancheros: What worked: I am eating vegan and your fair city has so few options, their veggie fajitas is why I came in. The veggie fajitas are the best have had...a beautiful fresh mix of veggies (broccoli, peppers, cauliflower, mushrooms, onions, etc...). The veggies are 'fajita'd' nicely and they are flavorful and not greasy. The beans are delicious. I'm a huge refried beans snob and these are delicious. I know they are likely are made with lard so having them is not fundamentalist vegan, but I'll take what I can get on your carnivore city. The food comes out HOT. Nothing irritates me me more than when a server sets a cold plate of food in front of me. If it's supposed to be hot, bring it HOT! The service is amazing. I can't think of the last time a server checked in on me as many times during my meal. And never in an annoying way, just making sure you're good. That stands out in a huge way. The prices are great. I know that's all relative, but in my experience, the prices here are very reasonable for a sit down, full service restaurant. Proximity to my hotel. I liked be able to walk. And when I say 'liked', I mean that loosely. It's zero degrees outside...no I don't love walking across the parking lot in that kind of weather. Yes, zero degrees (feels like -19 degrees) takes my breath away...but it's nice it's so close. Here is what didn't work and the -1 star: 1) No plugs near the tables in the bar. 2) While margarita is tasty, I'm not convinced my bar tender knows how to make my requested favorite: The Cadillac. I have to order a shot of grand Marnier to give it that orange/citrus edge. Overall this was a great experience. There is an honesty to their food and this cooking that is like having dinner at our abuelita or tia's house. I would come back! ( in the spring!! ) read more

Stayed at the Marriott for a business trip and didn't really want to go out. Since this was right next door we decided to give it a try. Ordered the al pastor taco plate and a margarita. The meat was really salty and the the tortilla seemed old since it flaked too easily. Not what I am used to, gave the 3 stars since the chips and salsa was free and the Margarita was $3 bucks. OMG totally awesome. As luck would have it, I am staying at the Courtyard, right next to the restaurant and hunger had set in. They advertised Authentic Mexican Food, and it sounded much better than some of the chains in the area. We were greeted on entering and immediately sat. Within a minute warm chips and tasty salsa were at the table. Our waiter, Santos, was very accommodating and even brought a second round of chips and salsa. I had the Chicken Chimichanga, it was so tasty that words can barely describe it. The cheese sauce was excellent and the meat was appropriately spiced. The interior was nicely decorated. Spacious booths, nice tables and a nice private room. The lamps were a nice tin, very nicely decorated and lots of traditional colors. Such a happy accident. I went to Los Rancheros last night with a friend for some margaritas and snacks. Last time my friend was in town we went to Los Agaves and we liked this place way better! Unlike the other place Los Rancheros had mexican decor and no cheapo plastic chairs so we were happy with the ambiance from the get go. The chips and salsa were great, the chips being served warm was definitely a plus! We also had guacamole and a half pitcher of margaritas. The guacamole was great and tasted fresh. The margaritas were also fairly priced. All in all it was a great time and I'll definitely be back! read more

Two New Mexicans staying at the Courtyard, we didn't have high hopes but were craving a little "home cooking." (We've been eating a lot of great Asian food on this trip and were hungry for something different.) Rather than get a more traditional Mexican meal, I thought I'd try one of their specialties and I was not disappointed. I ordered the grilled chicken with rice and cheese sauce. (I got the sauce on the side.) I thought it was yummy and would go back again for the same thing. My vegetarian husband really liked his veggie fajitas. We ordered a side of black beans to share. The chips were warm and crispy and the salsa was fresh and tasty. Yes, everything was kind of light on heat, but that still left plenty of room for flavor. Spicier options are available, and that's usually what Jerry goes for, but we were quite happy with what we got. Although the margaritas looked wonderful, I stuck with the iced tea. Service was excellent-- attentive without being invasive-- and the bill was less than most of the meals we've had on this trip. We were very glad we went. read more

The atmosphere was authentic the food was authentic and the people were all nice. My daughter is a very picky eater and she said that she'll be coming back to this restaurant. Los Ramcheros is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Springfield! I visit very frequently and have never had a problem. The customer service is normally very good too even when they are busy. They come and check on you and keep your drinks refilled but aren't constantly at your table either. I highly recommend this place to anyone!! read more

I enjoyed the food, but was confused when my bill had a tip already set up for me to pay. I talked to the Manager about it, but just looked at me, waiting for me to tip what they wanted me tip. I do tip, but I don't like having the place tell me what they think I should give them. I hope this never happens to anyone else. read more
