I'm not sure what everyone leaving negative reviews expected. This is central IL, of course the food straight from the kitchen is bland, it's seasoned to accommodate the local palette. There are plenty of extra sauces on the table, and if you tell them when ordering you'd like to kick it up a notch, they oblige. Great service, great take out. Huge, American sized portions. This is excellent Midwest Mexican, which in any restaurant outside of major cities is subpar Mexican at best. Set your expectations where they should be and you will enjoy your experience. We here in the fly over states don't get 'authentic' any type cuisine, Mexican is no different. Nor is there any where in town that you will get better tasting, or larger portions for the pittance La Fiesta charges. If you want a real Mexican experience, go to Mexico, if you want a good meal at a more than fair price, this is an excellent option for Springfield, IL. read more

I've been disappointed lately, and this place used to be so good! I went on a Friday night with friends. I got fajitas. The vegetables were not caramelized and flavorful, but bland and crisp. My friend got a soggy chimichanga. We got our food super fast, but it was obvious why. Someone in my group got the wrong order. They were nice about it and made the right order, but ,I kid you not, it came out in less than 2 minutes. We all kinda laughed about it, because it was obviously thrown together and not cooked properly. I like the fast service if it's lunch or I have a time crunch, but on a relaxing Friday night, take the time to cook the food properly. Then maybe I'll order an extra margarita. read more

Tonight I went to La Fiesta for the 3rd time and deemed their overall performance to be worth 3 stars. The staff is friendly and prompt. The interior looks like a standard family Mexican restaurant. Their prices are reasonable, but the food is just not really doing it for me anymore. On my first visit I ordered the carnitas arturo and was quite pleased. Nice level of spice, nice portion. Second time I had one of the combos which included an enchilada, a burrito, and a chile relleno. Most was so-so but I found the relleno to have a bad texture and also light on filling and consequently flavor. Tonight I went back to the carnitas arturo and found it to be less effective than the first time ordered. I also tried some Chori-Beans appetizer which is basically chorizo, refried beans, and queso used for chip dipping. Despite the fact that the chorizo is listed first I felt it was lacking, and what pieces I found were not as flavorful as the chorizo I am accustomed to. So not terrible, not even bad at all, just not that good. They do have discounted margaritas and offer a lunch special where if your food doesn't arrive in 10 minutes it's free. I'm here from out of town for a work training - stopped here for lunch one day. I ADORE Mexican food, spicy, tasty, authentic Mexican food. This was kind of authentic, but a little bland. Chips were good, salsa was tomato-y and not very spicy. Veggie fajita quesadilla was HUGE, greasy, and didn't have much cheese. I hardly touched the huge portion of beans and rice, but did enjoy the little shell filled with pico and guac. I asked for some homemade hot sauce to flavor my food, but it arrived tasting fermented and soured. My wife ordered combo #7 and the highlight for her was the chili relleno which was very cheesy and delicious. Overall huge portions for a low cost. read more

Well they didn't charge us for the crappy service in the crappy food that's why they get two stars. We ordered the fajita nachos which they proceeded to spill all over the place when I brought them out. Accidents happen that's OK but when we got a replacement it didn't even look even close to the same as what they brought out the first time. They tasted disgusting. We asked for plates and jalapeños repeatedly never ever got them. So sad. read more

Decided to try here 1 more time to see if it has improved. It has not. Food was tasteless. Bland. The chilli relleno tasted more like a spinach quiche. My burrito was plain unseasoned hamburger in plain white wrap with a small amount of red sauce dribbled over it. Sunday is $5.99 jumbo margarita. They're still using the same cheap tequila. We had strawberry which had a red color but no strawberry flavor. It had a strange after taste sort of like old used dishwashing water. That was the cheap tequila. The tequila pours are light which was OK since the tequila tastes so bad. On the positive the service was good. We're done coming here. Springfield has no shortage of Mexican restaurants. Sadly none of the others are great Mexican restaurants but they're better than LaFiesta. read more

Great Mexican food! Large burritos, cheap and delicious margaritas. You get your complementary chips and salsa which isn't too spicy. It's a clean restaurant and usually pretty busy but I've never had to wait for a table. read more

We went to La Fiesta last night for margaritas and decided to stay for dinner. I had the spinach burrito. It was amazing! I would highly recommend it. My husband was very satisfied with his dinner as well. He had chicken,steak, and shrimp over rice smothered in cheese. Delicious. Jumbo margaritas were on special and they were delicious. Margaritas were good. Service was terrible. Had to ask three times for a glass of water, and after checking if my particular meal came with a side of rice, to an affirmative response from the server, my meal showed up without rice. They did not offer to bring it anyway, and did nothing about it. Again, service was terrible. I will not be returning. read more

My husband and I have been loyal customers for years with this restaurant trying to support a local business. Tonight was our last. While attempting to use an SJR coupon for which we PAID to use, an extremely rude manager refused to honor it over $1.41. We were embarrassed and left with a bad taste in our mouths. Loyal customers supporting their business are appreciated. There were fewer than 6 customers in the restaurant and presumably a coupon is offered to increase business. In this case, rude management decreased their customer base. Thanks, but no thanks! read more

We first went to La Fiesta to celebrate a friend's birthday about a year or two ago and I can't tell you how many times we've been back since! It's always right around $25 for my wife and I to eat. If we got more simple items, it would be less... if we had drinks, it would be a little bit more. The chips and salsa are Very Good and they're even better if you ask them for the white cheese to go with them ($3 extra)! I have never waited in line here... no matter if it's a Friday or Saturday night and the parking lot is packed - they always get you right in somehow! This is probably because they are VERY FAST! It's almost like fast food sometimes! This can sometimes be annoying when you'd like to sit and talk and eat some chips first. Sometimes, we'll pretend to keep looking at the menu just so we can eat a basket or two of chips before they bring the main course. Friday nights feature a live mariachi band that travels around to different parts of the resturaunt. The waiters are very friendly, but as with a lot of authentic mexican places, there is occasionally a communication problem. They're always nice though and I always walk out stuffed!
