What a little oasis in the city, loved my experience here! I stumbled across this cafe while visiting and I could tell it looked like a popular local spot. There was a small line but the wait was short. I ordered a cappuccino and a BLT bagel sandwich. Both were really great. The cappuccino was one of the best ones I've had on my trip. The beans they picked were good, and the milk was steamed perfectly. The BLT bagel sandwich really caught me by surprise. I honestly wasn't expecting too much. They did such a good job balancing all the flavors and it didn't feel like a heavy sandwich like some BLT sandwiches can be. The general feel of the cafe is very cozy and comfortable. The window in the front let in amazing light, making the cafe such an inspirational spot (would be amazing to spend a day in there working). There were also plants everywhere and the greenery is such a nice touch. They even had fresh flowers on every table (so rare to find these days). The staff were super friendly. You ordered at the counter, get your number for the table, and the staff members would bring you your food. I was there in the morning and everyone had a smile on their face. Montréal. Down the street from my favorite stay is La Finca, a down right old school coffee house, single source, super tasty and delicious. And then in addition to this yummy coffee are really good pastries: the mini canele is addictive, as are the breads and vegan bars. The breakfast Danish (Danoise Dejeuner) is very good also with a half baked yolk, Dijon mustard, tomato and cheese on a light crust pastry. It gets crowded during rush hour (you are warned). In summer the back porch opens up; a super nice option to sit outside and relax. Service is always brisk and helpful in the 8-10 times I've visited. I looove this coffee house. You order, then sit, you cannot sit before your party orders. The counter staff will tell you where you can sit after you order your food. Ordered a BLT, granola, Shaksuka, frittata, classic Sencha tea, mocha latte with oat milk (small cup only here). C$70.07/$49.93 The mocha latte is ok. The classic Sencha is quite weak, even after steeping for a while. The Sencha after a steep tastes like water. The BLT is pretty yummy, the bacon is crispy and not super fatty. The bagel could be thicker and chewier, like a NYC bagel. The Shaksuka is good, although I would have poached the well. The tomato base is good, very Italianesque. The frittata is good, light and fluffy. The salad atop is decent. The house made granola isn't bad, could be better with more honey in the bake? I came in since it was close to my hotel. It was quite busy and I placed an order to go at the counter. Its a cute place. I ordered a focaccia sandwich with pastrami and a BLT and muffin for my friend. The muffins were somewhat small but the other pastries looked good. I waited to the side for my order and the kitchen is open so you can see whats going on. It took a little while for my food to come out. I was watching them put my order together and assumed my sandwich was a large piece of bread. They handed it to me and I walked back to my hotel to meet my friends. I opened the bag and noticed what I received was not a sandwich but appeared to be eggs which Im allergic to. I packed the bag back up and walked back. I explained the situation and was told the person at the counter heard FRITTATA not FOCACCIA when I ordered. The woman who helped me understood and was very helpful with getting my order corrected and offered a pastry to make up for the mistake while they made my sandwich. Racist staff. Over rated. Over priced. And terrible service. Long long waits foe mediocre drinks and food. I was told by my friend from Montreal that this was one of her favourite brunch spots in montreal. Once entering, it packed and I just wanted some takeout. The hostess assured me the finca omelette takes just 6 minutes to make and I would be able to get my order in time before my break was over for a conference attending. I ordered the maple syrup latte and the finca omelette. The coffee was delicious but it was in the served in the smallest cup ever. I felt like for $7 for a cup probably 3 times the size of an expression shot to be a ripoff. Not impressed. Then I was waiting for my takeout order and the waitress gave my order to the person behind me (who of course was a francophone) and I ended up waiting over 30 minutes for my omelette and the francophone 8 people behind me didn't even wait 1 minute for his order. He paid and took my food and left. I know the francophone always give them preferred service. But this was unfair and uncalled for and completely biased and racist in my opinion. Never again will I support such an establishment with such biased preferential treatment to francophone and utter disregard for fairness and equality. CANCEL La finca. It is not worth the hype and is completely over rated and over priced. To top it off, my omlette was so tiny made with maybe two eggs and was finished in a few bites which was extremely disappointing flavour wise and left me still hungry for breakfast. This is a very nice spot. It feels really cozy and I expected it to be a lot more expensive but it was actually very decently priced. The croissant was nothing to write home about, honestly it was kind of bad. It might have been on the counter the whole day. The matcha was really good. Everything about La Finca was spot on. The smoothie was AMAZING; the hints of ginger in there combined with a variety of fruits made for an extremely tasty morning boost. Super cozy and cute place that serves different options for breakfast or brunch. As a bonus, it opens earlier than most places in that neighbourhood (except for perhaps Ange), which is great for people that wake up too early for other breakfast places. We went there today around 9h30 - the place was bustling! We ordered a dalh soup and a yoghurt/granola to eat in-house. After the vaccine check, we went to sit in the back, where it was more quiet. The back of the shop used to have more seats, but they now have an attractive display of products (e.g. sauces, meal prep packages, fancy tea, nuts) from local and other producers. The food was kindly brought to our table. The soup was pure comfort, with turmeric and ginger adding heat to the carrots and onions. The granola bowl had a perfec little row of unblemished banana slices. The granola was far from overly sweet - it was actually bordering on savoury. The yoghurt underneath was rich but not dense. It seemed whipped: mousse-like in density, but without the bubbles. Tasty! I appreciate La Finca's variable and interesting menu (Butterccino!). A nice little spot for everyone! read more

La Finca was the crowning winner of our weeklong quest to try out and discover as many local, indie coffee spots as we could during our visit to attend the Canadian F1 Grand Prix and our stay in Old Montreal (in the Chinatown area at the new Homewood Suites (some kinks the hotel needs to address but, overall, can't beat the central, walk-to-everything location and it being steps away from a metro station - would stay there again for sure)). Indie coffee shops are cute and quaint but, let's face it, cute and quaint mean squat if the drinks don't cut it. La Finca checked all the boxes! TWO THIMBS UP. The interior was well laid out, decorated tastefully, trendy but comfortable, open, bright, light and inviting. Oh - and clean and neat. A large open seating area greets you as you step through the doors, great bar-height seating all along the front window line (perfect people watching perch!), more table seating in the back and even a cute little back deck seating area on beautiful sunny days like the day we went. SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT - friendly, smiley, cheery workers, our drinks came out quickly and promptly and the barista/server made awesomely tasty lattes - strong, flavorful and piping hot - unlike some of the other coffee shops we tried whose drinks were disappointingly just barely hot (to the point where I wondered if this is a thing in Montreal that I wasn't aware of...). Our barista's latte foam art handiwork added just the right nice touch....it's those little things that put a smile on your face, you know? We took our drinks to go as we were enroute to take in the City and stroll and shop on St. Catherine's Street for the afternoon. Nothing like nursing a perfect latte during an afternoon of strolling and shopping on a beautiful sunny Summer afternoon. :) Highly recommend a stop-in here and if you want to take a load off and take a little coffee break, this is the place to do it! read more

Four of us were lucky enough to have scored an Airbnb right around the corner from this fantastic cafe. We loved it so much we came for three out of our four mornings in Montreal. I cannot recommend it enough if you want perfect tea, coffee, pastries and the world's most perfect breakfast EVER!...the Breakfast Danish is flaky square puff pastry with an egg that's delicately cooked. It oozes open and there's just the right amount of cheese, bacon and tomato under. Words cannot express how perfect and wonderful it is. (see pic!!) I also can attest to a perfect chocolate croissant, and the one bite I got of Husband's phenomenal Grilled Cheese w/what must have been sauteed leeks. So rich and delicious. Others liked their Granola w/fruit and yogurt so much that they got it every time. Coffees are perfect, as are the pots of tea. It's not a big place, but we only ran into seating problems one time, but still managed to find room at the window. Otherwise there are a few tables for four and a communal table.
