With a line out the door on a Thursday morning, we knew this spot had to be a good one. Different than a typical restaurant, you will first place your order and then be seated. The cafe itself is very homey and comfortable. The service was fantastic, the staff had a smile on their faces and were so kind. We tried the bagel and cream cheese, croissant, and the danoise dejuener. Such a simple breakfast but absolutely delicious and filling.

Montréal. Down the street from my favorite stay is La Finca, a down right old school coffee house, single source, super tasty and delicious. And then in addition to this yummy coffee are really good pastries: the mini canele is addictive, as are the breads and vegan bars. The breakfast Danish (Danoise Dejeuner) is very good also with a half baked yolk, Dijon mustard, tomato and cheese on a light crust pastry. It gets crowded during rush hour (you are warned). In summer the back porch opens up; a super nice option to sit outside and relax. Service is always brisk and helpful in the 8-10 times I've visited. I looove this coffee house. End of Yelp.

You order, then sit, you cannot sit before your party orders. The counter staff will tell you where you can sit after you order your food. Ordered a BLT, granola, Shaksuka, frittata, classic Sencha tea, mocha latte with oat milk (small cup only here). C$70.07/$49.93 The mocha latte is ok. The classic Sencha is quite weak, even after steeping for a while. The Sencha after a steep tastes like water. The BLT is pretty yummy, the bacon is crispy and not super fatty. The bagel could be thicker and chewier, like a NYC bagel. The Shaksuka is good, although I would have poached the well. The tomato base is good, very Italianesque. The frittata is good, light and fluffy. The salad atop is decent. The house made granola isn't bad, could be better with more honey in the bake? The yogurt if it was thicker, maybe a Greek yogurt would make this better, along with berries and maybe bananas. The yogurt is so light, reminds me of plain milk.

Place is cute, people are very friendly! You order at the counter and then they will give you a number and ask you to find a seat. I got a cappuccino and the BLT bagel. Cappuccino was pretty but not very strong, the bagel was delicious! Good toasted sesame bagel, with bacon, tomato and salad inside. Enjoyed my visit at this cute cafe!

I came in since it was close to my hotel. It was quite busy and I placed an order to go at the counter. Its a cute place. I ordered a focaccia sandwich with pastrami and a BLT and muffin for my friend. The muffins were somewhat small but the other pastries looked good. I waited to the side for my order and the kitchen is open so you can see whats going on. It took a little while for my food to come out. I was watching them put my order together and assumed my sandwich was a large piece of bread. They handed it to me and I walked back to my hotel to meet my friends. I opened the bag and noticed what I received was not a sandwich but appeared to be eggs which Im allergic to. I packed the bag back up and walked back. I explained the situation and was told the person at the counter heard FRITTATA not FOCACCIA when I ordered. The woman who helped me understood and was very helpful with getting my order corrected and offered a pastry to make up for the mistake while they made my sandwich. When I had the pastrami it was delicious!

Best espresso in Canada yet, friendly welcoming service and copious seating available. Went back the day after for breakfast; better deal and coffee quality than hotel haha. Recommended

Cute and cozy café, suitable for grabbing a quick bite, buying coffee and pastries to go, or sit down and work from all day long. The service is fast and efficient. Came here for a weekday breakfast and there was already lineup outside the café. They have delicious pastries and croissants, but matcha latté didn't have any taste and the américano was burnt.

La Finca is a nice way to kick off your morning with some delish pastries. This crowded bakery offers some strong coffee and delicious croissants along with other items. Staff were pleasant but expect to wait a while for your food or drink. Please atmosphere to plan out your day or just do nothing while you sip your coffee.

The food here is really good. The drinks were pretty strong and the interior is cute. It does get super busy so arrive early and they have outdoor seating. Parking is on the street. Service was fast and super helpful

Cute, casual, counter-order cafe with a small selection of food items but still enough to satisfy a large group of different preferences. I got the frittata which was breadless and vegetarian, a good departure from a croissant or a savory meat sandwich, although they do have those options! The matcha latte with oat milk I ordered was so smooth and slightly sweet even though I had it with no sweetener. Definitely a must try if you're into matcha. Service was great as well!

I cannot say enough good things about the food, service and aesthetic. We happened by this brunch style spot by chance and it made us feel like the luckiest people in the area. The menus are provided in both French and English making the selection of delicious breakfast bites easy. The Breakfast Danish is baked to perfection with a yolky but not too runny egg. Spring Brunch with poached eggs, ham, peas, potato salad over greens was refreshing. And the matcha latte was soothing. Paired with a hidden outdoor seating area the ambiance truly makes you feel on vacation, even if for a short stop for food. A charming place that shouldn't be missed.

LA FINCA . . cute little cafe located in downtown Montreal. We visited early Saturday morning just past 8am and the cafe was already really busy. They serve a variety of pastries and coffee. . . Croissant 4.5/5 Latte 4/5 Americano 4/5 . . Croissants were super flaky and buttery. Honestly would have gotten a second one if I had the stomach space. The latte and americano were both delicious as well. Coffee flavour was strong and very smooth. If you're looking to grab a quick bite/coffee I highly recommend giving them a visit.

Independent - and very different - coffehouses in the Montreal area - 1 of 2…read more A hectic transition to Montreal - first arriving at YUL and then on to Centre-Ville - called for a rest - a nap - which then brought on the need for a snack and coffee/tea late at about 11:00 p.m. Looking at the phone didn't provide much in the way of choices, and, at that, a place where one could sit. I looked at the listing for La Graine Brulee more than once and had to think about it. I finally went in. This place is indeed weird. However, it all turned out to be better than I thought. There are all these seating areas, with some on either side of the front door and then several on a circular bench radiating from the center and making for quite a few tables. That's where I sat. Take note that there is also a big wooden cube with a lot of graffiti on it. The service was pleasant. I ordered some hot tea and they made a vegetarian burrito for me at late hours. (There's no way in hell you'll find something with meat or poultry in here.) I'm glad I was able to eat something before turning in. The prices were acceptable for what I got and its location, between 2 and 3 blocks east of the city's main Metro station at Berri-UQAM. In looking around, there was a good cross-section of people. It's more about nearby UQAM (translation: students) than it is "Le Village," which is now mid-rise and high-rise condos ... and the cranes that go into making them. Tables with books and laptops were the norm which, in my mind, is a good thing. Either way, there wasn't anyone over 40 here as far as I could see. That said, I don't know how willing I'd be to go back, unless in the same situation, and I have to joke that I don't know if personae who are middle of the road, and right of that, would like it here. However, if you are cut from the same cloth as the ownership and the other patrons, meaning bohemian and "new age-y," then I would strongly recommend it. I'm talking tribe! I will rate it within that context since they are not looking to serve the "mom, apple pie, and Chevrolet" crowd. Also, being on Saint-Catherine Est might foretell its personality, since Est and Ouest along this major thoroughfare can be two different worlds. However, La Graine Brulee delivered on a (vegetarian) burrito and some hot tea that I needed before turning in and did it well.

Luckily, this place was down the same street as my hostel so I made the trip and was greeted in French but they quickly made me comfortable when they realized my native tongue was English. How freakin' cute is this place ?! SO CUTE. So much to look at and do. Great place to dine alone or with friends. They have Nintendo that you can play with many games, fun booths you literally have to climb into and just so many apparatuses you can check out. Oh yeah! And my chai latte and breakfast burrito (suggested by the lovely barista) tied it all together to make a perfect experience here. Unfortunately, I lost most my photos from this trip but just trust me on this. Reasonably priced food for how dang delicious everything was! Can't wait to return back to Montreal one day, if I do, I'll have to bring in some of my friends to experience such an awesome, sweet place!

We had a list of cafés that were highly rated on Yelp, but none of them were right in front of us, and this one was. So we walked in without having checked any reviews first. Sometimes we get lucky that way! This time, we did not. First, we really just wanted a cup of drip coffee. That was not offered here. The only options were various espresso drinks, starting at $4.50. We each got a café Americano. They were ok. None of the food in the display cases looked that appealing, so we picked a large chocolate cookie with a fudgy center to share. Can't go wrong with a chocolate cookie, right? Wrong. It was dry and lackluster in flavor. There was only one person working there, and he was surly. We thought perhaps he was just annoyed with us for asking for wifi (not offered) and regular non-espresso coffee, but we listened to him interact with customers who came after us, and he was short and abrupt with them too. The back part of the store sold souvenirs, but nothing unique or exciting, just mugs and magnets and stuff you could get anywhere. The decor was eclectic mix of antique furniture, which seemed kind of funky and fun, until I sat down. The seat part of my old wood stool wobbled and tilted and I slid right off because some screws were missing. I had to catch myself along the counter and regain balance. I was fine, but this would not have been a safe situation for someone less steady on their feet! I liked the pressed tin ceiling and the chandelier. There were different books on the counter available for public browsing while we drank our coffee, which was nice. The windows were large and the potted plants seemed to be doing well in their sunny spot. I liked looking out at the sidewalk passersby. I would not come here again.
