I've been a member here for a few years now. I've slowly seen the decline. Broken machines, jacuzzi dirty and looks greenish, rusted handles. The sauna was just upgraded and no rubber mat was put back in. I ran in after my swim session and nearly burned my feet. Now I take flip flops everywhere. The floors need a good power washing along with the showers. Today one of the benches had dirt and sand and I notified the lady at the front before I even did anything. Good overall gym. It's never too crowded in the early morning hours. For the most part, weights are put where they belong. Most of the patrons are considerate of others. The showers is another story. The water pressure comes out very poorly. Takes a lot longer to wash my thinning hair. Have mentioned it to the front desk a few times, no results unfortunately. I was pleasantly surprised. I normally use WellHub to go to Lifetime fitness but I wanted to try Zumba again and an online friend had been going to the Zumba classes here and it was a great to expand my circle of friends and join him in a Zumba class. The parking lot is huge and they aren't located to far off the highway. It didn't take too long to get set up, just my ID and wellhub check-in id was required. After you get this set up you get emailed a barcode that you can use to generate a barcode to check-in for future visits as long as you checkin through wellhub first. I was suprised how big the gym was and it looked like it was remodeled within the last 5 years. Everything was bright and modern. I worked out on some of the machines too waiting for the class to begin. The equipment was okay, I wasn't expecting new machines like you see at Lifetime but definitely much better than 24 hour fitness. The people working out here was a mix of young and older people and quite diverse which was nice unlike going to a downtown gym or higher end gym it felt you didn't have to be a fitness model to be here. The zumba class was great and the sunday zumba class was even better. read more

I'm really disappointed with my experience signing up at LA Fitness. I joined on March 27 after being told my membership would be $29.99/month with no initiation fee (which is a joke because your charges your first and last fee at the time of sign up), and that my next payment wouldn't be until April 27. Instead, I was billed $75 on April 10 (just two weeks after signing up) for an "annual fee" that was never clearly explained to me. At no point during the signup process was it made clear that I would be charged this fee so soon after joining. Now, with another $29.99 coming up on April 27, my first month is totaling over $100, which is completely different from what I was led to believe. This lack of transparency has left a really bad first impression, and honestly making me reconsider keeping my membership at all. read more

Gym used to be good. Some minor unavailabilities here and there and occasionally running out of paper towels. This year the place has been run into the ground. There's always 2-5 common machines that are out of order / "scheduled for service" that don't get fixed for several weeks. There's a water fountain that was running water for weeks because it was broken in the common area. Finally, they just removed it without replacing it. Sinks in men's locker room do not work and have clearly degraded. Bathroom is the only place I can actually use the sink nowadays besides them having a total of 6 or so faucets in the locker room. Do not go here if you need consistent access to machines read more

I have been a member of the LA Fitness on Anderson Lane for more than a year now. I wasn't going to write a review, but after visiting an LA Fitness location in San Antonio this weekend, I felt like I needed to express my concerns and disappointment about how the facility on Anderson Lane is managed and maintained. The location in San Antonio was so clean and nicely maintained: it made the condition of our club look even worse when I went in today. The pool is a nasty mess and nothing ever seems to be done to clean it up. I have asked repeatedly for the pool to be vacuumed: nothing happens. The dirt, debris and small stones are still in the pool: it just seems to get worse instead of better. The standard response is: "We have called the pool company and they should be out this week." But the same dirt and debris has been there for months now. There is also green mold growing along the edge of the pool next to the ladder: this can't be healthy. There was a new manager there for a short period of time who actually seemed interested in trying to improve things: but she is no longer there - for whatever reason. It is unfortunate: she was the first manager who actually listened and then tried to do something to correct the problems. When I asked one of the staff today about the condition of the pool: he suggested that I might want to check out a new facility on South Lamar. This is not a viable option: I live close to the facility on Anderson Lane and I suggested that a better option might be for them to clean the pool at the Anderson Lane location so that it wasn't such a mess. Club management does not seem to be on top of things: and it appears that maintenance and cleanliness is not a top corporate priority either. It would also be helpful if the area surrounding the pool was kept a little cleaner. read more

I've been going to this LA fitness for at least 7 years now, and it unfortunately has gone down in the last several months. Pros: It doesn't get as packed as other gyms. Their free-weight section is larger than other gyms in the area. Cons: There are several machines that have been broken for a couple of months now and have not been fixed. The sauna door in the mens locker-room doesn't fully close. They also removed the rubber floor piece from the sauna, but they don't bother to clean the exposed floor (picture attached). The staff doesn't clean out the mens lockers. There have been a pile of clothes in one specific locker for at least 2-3 months. There are also overflowing trashcans and dirty mirrors. I hope they are just understaffed and can fix their issues soon. I will be looking for other gym options. read more

While the equipment/aesthetic isn't necessarily anything to rave about, the staff and atmosphere is what truly makes this gym special. From the very first day I signed up for a membership with their general manager Stevie, I have felt well taken care of. Several members of the staff have become friends of mine and you can tell everyone truly enjoys their job and work hard to make this gym a welcoming place. The trainers will also go out of their way to help in any way they can and that's how I met Bri, who is amazing and loved by all her clients. And again, while the gym is somewhat outdated, it's always super clean thanks to the amazing janitorial staff, specifically Robert. Additionally, the kids club (my son has been going since he was 6 months old) was a HUGE help for me before my son started daycare. Even on days that they were short staffed, Stevie ensures there is someone there to run kids club. Not to mention they have all been so sweet to my son, and he loves it there too! Lastly, there has been a time or two like every gym I have an uncomfortable situation and I know I can go straight to Stevie and he handles it every time. I'm so grateful for everyone here and truly highly recommend. read more

Over a year into my membership and multiple request to retire the defective TV screen in front of the treadmills it remains. Lots of sales people but TV repair fails for over a year. Staff is very nice just have no ability to effect a simple repair or replace. read more

Every year I post a review about the gym on Google. This year I'm hoping the Yelp review will be different. Hopefully someone will take note and look elsewhere. I have been there three years with no improvements. Why am I still here? It's on my way home from work. No excuse not to workout. In the last three years, this gym has experienced a stabbing (Feb 2024) that made local news. Disgruntled customers busting out windows(Aug 2024)and recently cars being broken into(Sep2024). Half the showers in women's bathroom are out of service, but like the toilets it gets fixed in 6 months or more. Hot tub was down most of my first year. Showers had only cold water for about a year. Equipment is dated and always broken. Vending machines are hit or miss. If you visit this place, count the number of "out of order" toilets, sinks, and Showers in the bathroom. The ac doesn't work. It smells bad inside. During daylight savings, the parking lot is pitch black. SOMEHOW, they have managed to convince a lot new customers to join. Lastly, the pool tile was recently cleaned. The tile is now white again. The brown dirt was been scrubbed off after two years. One lady contracted ring worm from the pool. The result of the broken windows left glass in the pool. Management swore they cleaned it, but several folks were stepping on glass during workout. This happened in August 2024. Go elsewhere. Even if you have to pay more. Everything I mentioned has been expressed to management. All four managers since I've been there in three years. Conclusion, they don't care about existing members. There goal is to recruit new members. Make bare minimum repairs to gym. read more

The staff is professional and polite, the facility is clean and kept up. There's a pool and a sauna. Overall it's a decent deal for the price. The parts that I don't like about it though are there's too much of an emphasis on machines and not enough of an emphasis on freeways there's not really a dedicated place to do lunges or push a sled. There's no row erg ski erg or air bike that you might see at any gym that promotes hybrid fitness. This is essentially an average middle of the road option that is extremely appealing if you want to use swimming as cardio because they have a pool. read more

I went in several years ago after receiving an offer for a free week. I received a pass, came back the next day or the day after and was told I only had a 1 day pass. I showed the guy emails offering me a week. The tall black guy held my ID above my head trying to get me to react and make it seem like I was picking a fight. I returned later that week to talk to his boss. It was a short hispanic guy who said "Why would you be back in here? It's like going back to an abusive boyfriend." Still searching for a gym on the north side. Popped in on a Saturday afternoon and it was packed, which typically means it's going to be Hell during the week. It is an LA Fitness through and through, down to that smell. Lots of bummer equipment from Matrix and Life Fitness that's perfect for people who hate their workouts. More incline benches (good) in the dumbbell area and cable stations than what's available at most gyms. Just sucks that the accoutrements are so uninspiring. read more

I tried out more than 5 gyms before deciding on this one. LA Fitness on Anderson wasn't only a good choice, but the BEST choice. As a woman, finding a quality & comfortable gym can be a challenge. Even after 2 months of coming to this gym, I know I made the right choice for many reasons: 1. Highest level of customer service. - Don (A REAL PERSON not automated system) reached out to make sure I had the opportunity to use my free pass and experience the gym. Out of all the gyms I trialed, Don was the only gym rep that followed up and directly obtained feedback to make sure I had a good experience. He wasn't pushy or over sales-y, and did a great job of making me feel welcome. - Josh (A REAL PERSON not automated system) followed up and made sure to schedule a time to walk through my goals. He gave me a lot of insight, motivation, and guidance to set me on the right path towards progress. Some trainers try to force their goals on you, but Josh did an amazing job listening to me and being supportive. - Bri (an amazing trainer) personally introduced herself and welcomed me to the gym. Her words of encouragement gave me extra motivation. She also ensured me to come to her if I ever have issues or feel uncomfortable in the gym, which gave me additional reassurance that the gym takes their client experience very seriously. 2. High level of cleanliness and attention to detail. - It's clear this gym prioritizes the client experience by keeping the space clean & as fresh as possible. It feels & smells clean. I'm not a person that likes that 'old school' gritty, dingy gym environment. I appreciate how well and how often this gym is maintained. - Environment temperature. The gym temp is kept a constant cool temperature. Texas gets really hot and some gyms don't handle that heat well, but even during the busiest hours, this gym still keeps a cool regulated (and non-humid) environment. 3. Wide variety of Equipment - Large quantity of cardio equipment so I never have to wait for a machine - A variety of weight machines, you'll definitely find what you're looking for - A good section of free weights 4. Has all my needed amenities - These were other non-negotiables I looked for: pool, hot tub, sauna, basketball court Since starting at this gym & working with this team, I've already dropped over 4% BF & gained 3lb of muscle. Rude trainers, opens late, poor customer service, and constantly broken spa. Rude Trainers will shoo you off machines - Today I was on a machine and another gym user came to use it after me. As we were loading his plates a trainer came up and told us he had been waiting for the machine - even though he had not been present there. We explained that someone else was getting on the machine, and the trainer told the other gym user he needed it for his client and to let him on it. So, yea, you can be thrown off a machine to fit a trainer's schedule here. Opens Late - at least four times in the last year the gym has opened more than a couple minutes late. Once or twice people even gave up and went home. Poor service - Aside from cleaning staff, no one really walks the floor. This leads to things like machine hogs who will hog one of the two Smith machines for 30+ minutes, people wantonly playing loud music, and people bringing duffels in and carting them around the floor. Spa - It seems to be broken every few weeks. read more

Was disappointed with the strong cleaning solution used during prime 3pm-4pm time while I was in the shower as strong bleach solution gives me skin reactions and eczema. Would love some better grips for the cable machines, this is my one and only complaint and it's a very easy fix. The staff at the front is friendly the place is clean. These guys are swindlers, they mislead me about the personal training contract and charged me for months after my one year agreement was over, even though I had already gone in and told them I needed to cancel and not continue the contract. When I called to dispute the matter and ask for my money back the corporate guy said it went month to month. Well that was a surprise because the trainer who I spoke to never mentioned that it would automatically go month to month, if I didn't come in a second time to cancel, even though I was sitting in front of him wanting to cancel. I demanded my money back from corporate and they only agreed to refund me one month out of five that they charged me without my consent. read more

I have no complaints about the staff, but nothing but complaints about the corporation that runs it. Beware of any recurring draft from your account; they are not to be trusted. If you sign up for trainers, know that you can't stop them from taking money from your account, but must go through a cumbersome cancellation process. Under their deceptive contract, you don't get your money back. I cancelled months ago, yet LA Fitness has kept billing me. When I closed my account, I get many calls from LA Fitness informing me that I've been fined in an amount that approximates the monthly payment. Gym is pretty good. I'm thankful first of all that there's an la fitness in my vicinity and also that it has basically everything you need. The weight room is decent sized and lots of cardio machines, yoga studio, basketball courts, racquetball courts, and most importantly, they have sauna, pool, and hot tub. This place is actually cleaner than most la fitnesses I've been to in city areas and this one is in a good location too near lots of other restaurants and businesses. This gym has a very serious problem with maintenance and cleanliness. some machines have had a "scheduled for maintenance" sign for over a month. The men's room smells like urine right now. Two urinals have been scheduled for maintenance for more than a week. The location is the only reason I'm here. read more

The staff member who signed us up could not have been less interested in telling us about the gym. He sounded like a sixth grader being forced to give a 10 minute presentation about the Louisiana Purchase. Additionally, he gave us incorrect information on when the gym is busiest. He said 4-6pm on weekdays, which was part of the appeal for us signing up. That gym is packed well into the evening. If the staff members don't seem bored to death working there, then they're rude to patrons. If you ask if they have a piece of equipment you can borrow, they very rudely tell you to "bring your own equipment" and give you a dirty look for even asking. I guess we should bring our own weights next time if that's the case. To top it off, the gym is SO HOT. It seems like there's no A/C. And this is in March; no telling what it's like in the summer. I asked the staff member who signed us up how often the pool is serviced (NOT how often you skim a net through-- I'm talking how often the pool is actually serviced). He said every day which cannot be true. There's piles of grime at the bottom and in the corners of the pool. Nasty. The only good thing about this gym is that the equipment functions. Bare minimum. You're better off going to the Planet Fitness that's near this location...we will likely be switching. read more

Basketball court on weekends is constantly taken up by people playing full-court games. Which is great, I love paying for an amenity and not being able to use it. Juice bar, lol, another amenity you pay for and don't get. They have vending machines in case you forget to bring your own water. Only, those aren't available either, always scheduled for service. Another amenity you pay for but don't get. Really outrageous they're still charging full price for membership when there's so many of the advertised amenities you just don't get for some reason or another. read more

I have tried Zumba class in the morning and hot sauna afterwards. Instructor was great, even I was not able to catch up with his speed and skills. It is a nice place hidden in a strip mall. Was visiting Austin from LA, and I'm a relatively new LA Fitness member, so I was really glad to find one close to where I was staying. My sister and I went around 11 AM on a Wednesday, so it wasn't too busy. Don was at the front desk; he was very friendly and helpful/answered all of our questions. The only reason for the one star deduction was because we noticed the facility was older and in need of some maintenance/updating/remodeling (in regards to some of the machines, locker room and pool). read more
