    Nice and roomy spin room
    Renato M.

I visited this gym on a weekday morning to take a cycling class. It is a big gym with lots of equipment and a huge parking lot. Staff seems to be friendly but since I don't work out at this location on a regular basis I can't comment on that. The cycling room is big and I liked the fact that that each row of bikes is in a different level (similar to a theater) which allows whoever is sitting towards the back to have a better view of the instructor. My complaint is that the cycling instructor wasn't very good with 0 enthusiasm. There were no hills, sprints and other standard spinning activities. All the instructor kept a saying was "add 2 gears, remove 2 gears, stand up, sit down". Just multiply this by 20 and that was basically the whole class. My membership allows me to access all LA Fitness locations in NJ and I've been to at least 5 of them to take spinning classes and this was definitely the worst class.

Absolutely filthy gym. The machines are covered in dust, actually the whole gym is covered in dust, rust and sweat. There is no cleaning product to wipe down machines and no soap in the bathrooms. The employees do not want to engage in conversation and it's like pulling teeth to find out how to cancel. On top of that, the gym is filled of men just eyeing women in completely inappropriate ways. DO NOT JOIN! DO NOT JOIN! DO NOT JOIN!

Credibly over crowded with north Jersey d bags. It's like a terrible night club. Also the overall layout makes no sense. Oh and the guys that try and sign you up are overly pushy and annoying.

Accommodating staff and good atmosphere. They are able to help me out with a special request. Been a member of LA fitness in MD before. I have been here for about two months. I got 2-4 times a week. The place I find to be clean, usually I'm able to hit all the machines I want. Other patrons are courteous, but could do a little better to place the weights in order as I have read in the other ratings, so I want to be fair. The pool is a good experience and I like to go once a week for 1:30 and then hit the sauna which is very hot and always works. I never have had to wait, at least, split a lane one time Every gym has quirks but for what I use it for I'm very happy!

LA Fitness Clifton Route 3 852 NJ-3 Clifton, NJ 07012 - December 2024 I'm an LA Fitness member and thought I'd share some feedback regarding my recent experiences with the gym for awareness, especially if you are considering membership. Most of the LA Fitness locations in North Jersey do a good job of equipping and maintaining their facilities, but as it relates to the Route 3 Clifton, NJ location, numerous pieces of gym equipment, heavily utilized by patrons, simultaneously and consistently stay in disrepair for weeks, if not months at a time (evidenced by photos taken during me gym visit this weekend). This causes long waits and high frustration among members trying to execute planned workouts. Additionally, I consistently find gym equipment and some workout areas unkempt, and in some cases, neglected. This significantly detracts from the overall experience and raises concerns about hygiene and safety. The Clifton Route 3 location is reportedly LA Fitness' flagship New Jersey location, yet the surrounding locations (Lodi, Kearny, and Secaucus, New Jersey) are far better equipped and maintained, both from an equipment perspective and a facility maintenance perspective. As a result, it is disappointing to see the flagship location falling short of expectations. Clifton NJ members pay a high premium to utilize LA Fitness, and the company should honor their patron's membership investments by providing the equipment, services, and well-maintained facilities they constantly promote when selling memberships. -JR

It's the local spot where everyone from the 4 corners goes to. I was visiting back from for a few days and decided to get my 3 day pass. Their cardio deck is a joke with 8 sets of stairs but only 1 works. Most of the equipment looks like it hasn't been cleaned or services in a long long time. (See pics) Their actual lifting machines are mostly broken, missing essential safety pieces or adjustment pins. To adjust most of them for height and weight it takes a bit of getting used to since they're over a decade old. (see pics) The free weights and 45/35/25/10/5lb plates are scattered all throughout the place put back with no rhyme or reason. You'll be looking for a 15lb free weight and need to grab it from where the 65lb dumbbells are supposed to be. Nobody returns weights to the plate trees or anything. Frustrating! (See pics). There are no cleaning supplies anywhere to be found. The bathrooms and changing rooms smell bad.

    Zero sanitary wipes.

Otherwise, it's too expensive for me to continue regularly. Tommy is the best yoga instructor at this location. He demonstrates the poses in his Blaze class and does a great job helping you through your practice whether you're a beginning or intermediate yogi. He's polite as well - if something is wrong with your form, he'll ask you if it's alright to touch you where you need adjustments. I know some instructors just adjust you without asking and it makes people very uncomfortable. If I were to base my review on just his class, I'd give this location a 5 out of 5. He does a Flow class too, but I've never tried it. Sue Z. is great. She has a very sweet voice that definitely helps to relax you during your practice, but she doesn't demonstrate many of the poses so if you're new, you'll have to look at other yogis around you to know what's going on. Try her Blaze and Flow classes! Kelly's Flow class pretty good too. No one else has really stuck out to me, and I've gone to 3 or 4 other instructors' classes. The main reason why I'm only giving this location 3 stars is because the management is AWFUL. They almost NEVER answer the phone because no one seems to be around unless there's a class, and when there's a class, no one picks up because the yoga instructor is instructing and whoever should be at the front desk is participating in the yoga class. I know there are other gyms and yoga studios that are closed during certain hours, but management should at least change their phone system so that business-related calls can be redirected to the manager's phone or something so there isn't only a 5-minute window that someone could MAYBE answer. I bought two 10-class passes on Memorial Day 2015 - one as a gift for my boyfriend and one for myself. Because I bought them both, they were both under my account. I wanted them to transfer one pass to my boyfriend's account, so when I went to the studio, I asked if they could transfer it but the woman who assisted didn't have the authorization to transfer passes (only the manager could do that). I tried to come in when the manager was in, and she said she'd do it for me but never got around to it. It's February of 2016 and they're STILL not transferred, so my boyfriend has to call in every time he wants to book a spot in a class because he can't do it online through his account since there's no classes available under his name. And of course, if he calls, no one picks up. They either need to change their phone system to redirect calls to a manager's cell phone or have someone there even when there isn't a class going on. Once my passes are up, I'm going to see if Tommy instructs at another yoga studio and try to join that instead if it's a reasonable distance from me.

I am extremely disappointed by my experience with this yoga studio…read more From the moment I arrived, the person working at the front desk was rude, condescending, and unwelcoming. A yoga studio should be a place where people come to find peace, serenity, and positive energy, but unfortunately that was not the atmosphere I encountered. The negative energy at the front desk completely overshadowed what should have been a relaxing experience. To be fair, my instructor, David, was fantastic. He was professional, knowledgeable, and created a wonderful class environment. The instructors appear to genuinely care about their students and the quality of their teaching. What made the experience even more concerning was that, after mentioning my interaction, several people I spoke with at the studio indicated that they had experienced similar behavior from the front desk staff member. One person even commented that while the instructors are amazing, the individual at the front desk often comes across as rude and brings negative energy into the space. Hearing that made me feel that my experience may not have been an isolated incident. Afterward, I attempted to address my concerns privately before posting a public review. I reached out directly and also sent a message through social media in hopes of speaking with ownership or management. Unfortunately, my concerns were not addressed, and my attempt to have a professional conversation was unsuccessful. When I tried to follow up, I was met with the same dismissive attitude that caused the issue in the first place. As someone who regularly visits and reviews businesses, I understand that everyone can have a bad day. However, when guests are repeatedly met with hostility, dismissiveness, or condescension, it reflects poorly on the business as a whole. Customer service matters, especially in a wellness space where people are specifically seeking a positive and supportive environment. My best friend and I are from the area, and we were genuinely excited to support a local business. Unfortunately, the experience left us feeling unwelcome rather than valued as customers. While David's class was excellent and deserves recognition, the front desk experience left a lasting negative impression that management should take seriously. A yoga studio's atmosphere begins the moment someone walks through the door. I hope ownership takes steps to address these concerns so that future guests can experience the sense of peace and community that a yoga practice is meant to provide.

I've been to other studios in both the north and central jersey areas and nothing compares. I love their energy and vinyasa flow- it's unique to all the teachers' styles of teaching. The class typically starts with a short guided meditation in order to help you set an intention and focus on your yoga practice. It's always something so relatable, playful, and nothing too serious. That's what really makes the class unique: it's FUN! The energy the teachers and the fellow yogis give off each other keeps you motivated and going (and laughing). The flows sometimes will focus on certain areas in the body, like legs/hips/ abs/ shoulders/ etc., which is really nice when certain parts of your body need attention. Did I mention the music is always on point? What I really enjoy about this yoga studio(/community) is the play in between flows. The teachers will demonstrate how to do more "advanced" poses, along with variations for beginners and more advanced yogis. Things like handstands, arm balance variations, and how to even flow from one advanced pose to another. It's awesome! During these play sessions, the teachers will come around to help you out, and other yogis will most likely cheer you on. It's so sweet- again the energy is fantastic. This studio has a great balance between traditional yoga and this new unique style that you can't find anywhere else. Definitely go check them out. The entire biz looks great (front/store, the studio itself, the locker room in back).  It's clean and inviting and you can tell the entire staff cares about the place. I love that the class doesn't face the mirrors for class (the absolute worst) and every few feet there's the 'STUFF' bucket (napkins, tissues, cleaning solution for your mat) which is such a great 'cherry on top' that I never saw in other yoga studios I've been to. Pricing is solid (I was originally lured here through a deal over at Groupon). To date I've bounced between four different classes/levels/instructors.  Each class was unique and challenging and every teacher has been welcoming, supportive and a total pro. The studio is right by a busy intersection - metered parking on the street (I believe an hour max) and a municipal lot behind the studio (metered till 6pm, I think) for more than one hour. Even if I'm officially long in the tooth and nowadays Child's Pose and Shavasana are more my jam instead of Bhairavasana or Eka Hasta Vrksasanav - I'm just glad to have found a cool place to get on the mat and zen out for a spell.  (Will I ever advance up to their 'P3' hot yoga class?  Not even with some help from Ganapati and Hanuman!)

I could not keep up with the pace as a newbie, but Mike is so kind to let you go at your own pace. I recommend bringing a beach towel to line your yoga mat because, you will slip, and slide from all the sweat you release. Also bring a gallon of water, you will need the hydration. I love at the end of class, Mike gives a cold towel that has soaked in eucalyptus. After an intense work out you feel like the angels of earth has opened up the sky's; that's really how good the cool wet towel feels. My favorite part is at the end of the class, there is a awesome meditation. I love how it clears all the unimportant stuff in your head space. I walked in with things on my mind. I walked out feeling love for humanity, peace, happiness, and more aligned with my inner true self. Sleep- Oh my, I got the best sleep of my life. I normally do magnesium flakes in a hot bath.
