This gym is closing. No email about closing. You can't cancel by phone membership. You go to website or in person to cancel membership. They charge me extra for 2 months. They are thief. I am extremely disappointed with the lack of professionalism and accountability at the LA Fitness Marietta location. I accidentally left my gold Tous necklace in the sauna a couple of weeks ago. When I called the next day, a front desk employee (Austin) told me that a custodian had found it and turned it in. My necklace was supposedly sitting at the front desk waiting for me. When I returned a couple of days later to pick it up, the necklace was suddenly nowhere to be found. Despite the fact that their own staff confirmed it had been recovered, no one could explain what happened to it. What made the situation worse was the complete lack of support from the on-duty manager (Susan). Instead of taking responsibility or trying to help, she simply told me, "There's nothing I can do." That was the entire response. No investigation, no effort, no accountability. As a paying member, I expect better. When a facility takes possession of a valuable lost item, it should be safe until the owner returns. The way this was mishandled -- and the way management dismissed it -- shows major gaps in customer service and internal procedures. read more

First time writing a review on a formerly favorite! Today i encountered an unusual situation. Two foreign, non speaking women showered in the area i was using. What was unusual was that they each had a large stuffed duffel bag plus a backpack. They seemed from all appearances homeless, skirting around avoiding eye contact. Last summer a homeless man, walked in an open emergency door (on purpose?) and spent a half hour plus, flat by the pool side wall, legs straight up the wall , and fell asleep. After a period of time he got up and went out the emergency door....no alarm! Spoke today to the woman in charge and she assured me she checks each face with the card and all was legit. Old equipments, lack of maintenance- taking customers for granted ----- I tried out as a guest last week. I am very disappointed with the facility - LA Fitness, 4400 Roswell Rd Ste 126, Marietta, GA 30062. All the machines are too old , many were not working, most had rust on it. Handles on cardio machines were broken. There are only total 3 Rowers, one is reserved for personal training area. Two towers upstairs are too old and rusty. This club is in one of the most affluent neighborhoods of Atlanta, but looking at the quality of the exercise equipments and lack of maintenance it feels like you're taking customers for granted. Oh my god. I cant express my excitement when I say *Tianny* is immediately one of my favorite instructors.. first time in her class today. High energy. High intensity. Mostly Latin music, fast beats and good bass (my personal taste: I wish she had some more rap/thug music but regardless I absolutely approve of her music choice). Love her moves; they are effective in working out core muscles. Shes really good at moving her hips and moving to the music. Lots of arm and leg workouts. Not to mention she changes up the moves and gives you a different intensity for the moves. It's a fine line... Repetitive enough so that I can catch on and work out the muscles, but too repetitive that it gets boring. And my, definitely go early. I arrived right at 7pm and it was packed! How exciting!! Around 40 people and a few trickled in after class started. Most of the classes are small and have less than 15 people. It's been a while since I've had to come early to class, since I've moved and more consistently coming to these locations. I'll update as I come more often. I didn't get to meet her, since most of the time I'm rushing from appt to appt, but I just absolutely had to give her a shout out as she's great!! Looove. My main fave instructor, Chyna, has a super feminine sexy but thug style (I've attended her Akers LA FIT classes). Tianny has more of sexy swave Latino style. Love them both. You need to go to both their classes for a different style workout. But you'll be sweaty and tired after for sure. I hope to dance as well and look as good/be as healthy as they both do! Bad management at this LA Fitness location. Not open to addressing member concerns. I've been a member for many years and joined because They advertised Pilates, yoga, spin, and other classes. Now they have no Pilates classes and only one yoga class per week. This amounts to false advertising but to make matters worse I learned that their instructors who would like to teach there but have issues with the management addressing their needs and concerns and are being blown off. read more

I'm not a huge fan of this specific gym but mostly due to the layout. It's also extremely hot in there, especially in the summer. Bathrooms are clean for the most part. Locker rooms are clean. The machines need a major renovation. Planet fitness is so much nicer but there's just not one around me otherwise I'd be at that gym. There's a guy at the front desk that actually makes me nervous because he's so off putting. No smile or expression in his face at all. My biggest complaint is the TV's. I'm sorry but I do not need to see Donald Trumps awful face on 4 of the 6 TV's. We don't need fox news on three different stations. LA Fitness was good when they first came to the area a long time ago (we've been in East Cobb 15+ years). They have sadly become a horrible gym. We are a family of 4 and after one chance after another have cancelled our membership. I will make this factual and brief: - The staff is grumpy if not downright uncaring. It makes a small but meaningful difference just to be nice. A small, occasional welcome, goodbye, or thank you practically never happens. - In East Cobb the sinks and shower area on the men's side is a little gross, at best. They redid some of the interior years ago but for some reason did not touch these areas. - My daughter went into the gym and they advised she could not work out without a parent. Instead of sending her on her way, they asked that she sit at a desk, read a contract, and asked her to sign or she would "be in trouble for trying to get in without a membership". I'm not making this up. And she was 17!!! - if you have any complaints and voice this to their staff they simply do not care. If you point out that you are getting frustrated and let them know you're considering cancelling your membership they simply do not care. Unfortunately this is the case and it's too bad. LA Fitness has a lot of great locations and they could be providing a great service for the area. read more

So I checked out this location because I had a friend who lived in Marietta and this was his go-to location. What I didn't realize until my first month here in GA is that the LA Fitness gym chain along with its competitor, LIFETIME monopolize the healthclub market. I was told by the Assistant Sales manager that there's an LA Fitness every 7-10 miles. Maybe I'm misquoting him but it seems to be the case that LA Fitness health clubs are popping up everywhere and usually situated in some local strip mall. With that being said, this particular location has 2 floors. The floors are carpeted but all the amenities are there. 3 racquetball courts, an indoor basketball court, pool, jacuzzi, group exercise room and a second floor with extra cardio machines. It's not the largest LA Fitness gym in the GA suburbs but serves its purpose for the folks that live less than 10 miles from this particular location. The things I look for in the gym are the welcoming staff, a well maintained & clean locker room, maintained machines and overall appearance of the main gym floor. It was a Sunday morning, "Day 2" of the new year so everyone and their mother were out before noon trying to start one of their new year's resolution so as you can imagine, the gym was packed. I was disappointed to see more than 2 elliptical machines out of order which made it difficult to hop on a cardio machine for some late comers but I hope they take care of such issues more frequently than not. If I had a choice, I'd probably be more likely to visit a larger, more updated LA Fitness facility but for the basic needs, this gym would probably be suffice for its residents. #Yelp365 - 2/365 read more

This has been my location now for years. Last year in the summer the AC broke. It took over a month for them to fix it. Guess what, again in 2019 the AC unit broke. When I asked a month ago, I was told it would be fixed that week..."see the box on the floor over there" that is it. Just waiting on the installers. Again, one month later still no AC. Last week they finally fixed the AC in the main area, now the AC compressor in the exercise room is gone. There are NO FANS in the ceiling (unlike many other locations). So we had to bring 3 huge industrial fans into the room. The staff does not care. The pool also smells like old sweat. The toilets had big pink mold rings on them. I am so done with this location. Heading to Sandy Springs....before I get heat stroke and sue them. read more

Went back to LA off roswell in marietta. My wife and her friend met me there, but we didn't workout together at all. I was lifting and they were on the step machine. When i finished my workout the girls asked me to show them how to properly squat. I did so and I know how from 20+ yrs of training but I'm not a certified trainer nor did i dream of charging her friend.... I showed them them how to squar properly then went to the bathroom to wash my hands and an employee followed me into the bathroom. At first I thought he was complimenting me caused he said are u a trainer? We are hiring... I laughed and said i wish then he changed the whole conversation explaining that no outside training is allowed. I was caught off guard by his bs intro, but hyped up when i saw he was attempting trick me into saying i was training them. I told him the following: 1 that was my wife and her friend. 2 that was the only exercise i showed them. 3 I informed the dude who "followed" me into the restroom that in the future i will tell my wife to bring another friend or more and I'll train them too for free on how to properly do compound movements. I would understand if you are a certified paid trainer then they deserve their cut, but am i not allowed to show my wife and her girlfriend how to do one exercise. That place sucks again. This place is swampy and gross. I called to cancel my membership 60 days ago and they said I have to go in person to cancel. Today I went in at 4pm on Saturday and they said I have to come in M-Fr between 9-5. I work during those hours. This policy is only meant to make cancellations as inconvenient and time consuming as possible. I joined last fall after looking at the YMCA (more expensive, believe it or not), and have found the classes / instructors wildly uneven and not standardized (five different yoga classes with 10 different types of yoga, never specified). Plus, the yoga studio is right next to the basketball court, so there's incessant banging the entire time. Seriously -- they couldn't close the courts down for a one-hour yoga class per day? The management is rude, as with most chain gyms. Their equipment is ancient and falling apart -- none of the treadmills even have monitors, the two rowing machines are from some time in the '80s and are always broken. The spin studio is dark and the bikes are old. Yeah, why did I join this gym? (Oh, yeah it's right around the corner from my house and I'd hoped the classes would be better). So they have a bank of like four TVs over the treadmill/elliptical area -- none have sound. One is tuned to CNBC, one to ESPN -- and one to Fox News, which I personally find very offensive. I asked them to change the channels, and they gave me some rigamarole about LA Fitness having a deal with those channels. Whatever -- if their machines had monitors, like the rest of the gyms in the 21st century, it wouldn't be an issue. Speaking of yoga, the straw that broke the camel's back was an instructor who actually played an Americana covers mix during class -- with lyrics -- so you could barely hear her. Who does that? No one who works out here is very friendly either. Very disappointed and have started looking for another nearby gym. C'mon LA Fitness -- this location is in desperate need of a makeover. read more

Horrible! Trying to cancel a membership and they tell you you have to go in to do it. Daughter went in two weeks in a row and was told the manager is the only one that can cancel it and of course, he was not there. Called today and the manager is magically there because of course, you can't cancel over the phone. He confirms he IS the only one that can cancel a membership and it has to be between 9am-5pm Monday-Friday. Also mentions mailing in a form. I just looked online and apparently you can also complete this form there to cancel but no one ever mentioned that either. He claims they tell everyone that enrolls the days/hours to cancel and that he is the only one that can do it. Not true. I asked for the corporate number so I could see if this is standard and he refused to give me the number. I thought I would save someone the headache. Be sure you question their cancellation policy and get it in writing if you decide you want to join here. read more

The facilities here are generally above average, and the staff is helpful (especially the staff in the children's area). Racquetball and basketball courts are well kept, the pool is always in good shape, and the whirlpool is a nice addition as well. My wife takes several classes and enjoys them - sorry I can't provide more info there. The shower facilities are not as clean as I would like, but I've seen much, much worse. While the club stays pretty busy, I've never had to wait for a treadmill before. My biggest complaint... Between Fox News on the TVs in front of the treadmills and the increasingly reactionary clientele in the locker room - some of whom late last week were saying they should get their rifles and march on Washington - I sometimes feel like I'm working out at Tea Party Headquarters. Headphones, a strong stomach, and a great deal of patience are required if you're not a hard-core right-winger - which is kind of weird to have to say about a gym, isn't it? UPDATE - thanks to the LA Fitness team for providing some diversity in the TV channels - I see CNN on there regularly now along with ESPN, which is great and much appreciated. I'm not entirely sure how anyone can have anything positive to say about this club, other than its location. This LA fitness has the market cornered. They are the only large gym in East Cobb. The fact that they have no competition is plainly seen the second you walk through the door. ALL of the equipment is rusting, sweat stained, and often not working. The pool is always dirty, it looks murky and cloudy, and they have it so heavily chlorinated that your eyes and skin burn the second you are in the water. The classes are lackluster at best. There's a limited amount of worthwhile instructors and trainers but no one seems to stick to a schedule. Classes are regularly canceled and if your scheduled trainer becomes unavailable they match you with a random trainer... How is that personal training?? I know these issues don't exist in all locations as there are 2 beautiful recently redone locations at Abernathy and Peachtree. These guys need to get their act together, I'd be embarrassed if I worked here. read more

Worst experience of my life... It was literally the first time I had been, I revived the membership from a boyfriend who I recently broke up. Not that is really relevant.. but, he called and convinced them I stole his credit card information. When I got there I introduced myself and let the know it was my first time there. I asked the lady where the locker rooms she said "over there in the corner". I said and the pool. She replied, "you get there through the bathrooms". I'm like ok. Isn't there a tour hi. Nice to meet you welcome. I couldn't find any towels but that had notes and rules and a place to put them?? On my way to the bathroom just trying to figure out where everything is I think to myself. Hey my current "bf" wants to join as well. So I ask this same lady, can I bring him in as a guest to see what he thinks. She said "$5 every time he comes in or 100 to join. Then I got to thinking about when my next bill was due so I asked. "HEY, DO YOU KNOW WHEN MY BILL IS DUE I RECIEVED IT AS A GIFT AND WANT TO MAKE SURE IT'S PAID ON TIME" Lady. "I'm not sure I'm new here" Me. "Ok. I'm kind of in a hurry if its ok.with you ill just speak to someone.who knows more next time I come" Lady. Umm. As she texts ok. Let me ask this other guy. Me. Ok. Well I'm just going to go ahead and get started. 15 min later I was asked to leave!!! Are ya kidding me!! Lady. "Your membership has been canceled were going to have to ask you to leave. Me. IN TEARS. "Are ya kidding me thanks for turning my Sunday peace into the most embarasing moment of my life!!!!!! P.S.
