I've been attending the aqua classes with Ebony T. for a while and have immensely enjoyed them and seen great results. The vast number of people coming to this facility for aqua is ONLY due to Ebony teaching the classes. I hope there's positive change so that we can continue enjoying these classes. Drinking fountain has been broken for over one month. Need to do better than that. Place needs more squat racks. Only has two squat racks, which really sucks when you have idiots doing barbell bicep curls at the squat racks. Cleanliness and maintenance standards have really been slipping. The entire gym but most notably the locker room is absolutely disgusting. You are showering with mold on the ceilings and sewer flys on the walls. Floors need to be scrubbed and lockers whipped out. The sauna is filthy and the cedar benches need to be replaced. The gym mats are ripped, equipment is rusty, and carpeting has tears in it. The parking lot is full of pot holes and needs to be repaved. When you pay for a gym membership you expect it to be kept clean and maintained at a minimum. Been very disappointed lately, hopefully they will turn it around or I'll be canceling my membership. read more

Update. Here we are almost 3 weeks later and still no resolve. I called 3 times and I was told corporate would get back to me. I haven't heard a single response from these irresponsible idiots. I submitted my complaint to the Illinois Attorney Generals Office and they did agree that LA Fitness is in breach of state law. We will see how this plays out. If you like having your stuff stolen by the employees, this is your place. It's happened to numerous people that work out here. When you leave your AirPods by accident at a machine and track them to the janitors house, probably ia not a good reflection on your business. read more

This is a pretty good gym. My criteria for the 4 star rating would be 1) cleanliness, 2) lack of douchebags, 3) limited upselling, and 4) variety of equipment. I'm leaving off the 5th star because there's no towel service, and they could maybe benefit from a little more cardio equipment. Overall though, this is a very good LA Fitness. I am not sure if it's because it's newer or just attracts higher-end clientele, but this is one of the cleaner LAF's I go to. It seems like everyone wipes things down and I've not seen any mess in the locker rooms. Makes for a very pleasant experience. I also belong to a higher-end gym up in Naperville and they don't have the range of strength training equipment LAF does. Military BB press, multiple leg press machines, several squat racks, and a hack squat press set LAF above the competition. I like my high end club for things like swimming, pilates, yoga, and TRX.... but if you want to bodybuild LAF is the place to do it. I spend a decent amount of time lifting and I rarely see douchey people, which is nice if you know most weight rooms are like douche central. All the clients are courteous and clean up after themselves- huge plus. Price per month is reasonable. With all LAF's, the staff turnover is insane. Pool is decent, hot tub is nice. No steam room that I know of, saunas in the locker rooms. Overall, a very good LAF, and a very good gym compared to the competition. read more

Just recently joined and not even sure how I feel yet. I'll be going in tomorrow for the first time since joining a few days ago and my first training session is Wednesday. I went in after seeing the online deal for $75 initiation fee/$29 a month membership yet somehow I ended up sitting with a salesmen/trainer who talked me into extra personal training and other things that will cost me over $300+ a month. I didn't realize it was such a sales environment. He also told me he'd give me a tour but ended up making me do excercises completely unprepared and not warmed up. My quads have been cramped for 3 days now. I didn't even see the whole gym (2nd floor, back area, pool, locker room area, etc.). He was definitely a nice guy, but I feel a little hustled. I just left sweating, cramped, and realizing I just made a $300+ commitment for a facility that I didn't see completely (Now I'm seeing reviews on the place being gross)...Smh. I get that's their job and maybe they're genuinely passionate about the fitness of others but wayyy too pushy about all the extra services. I blame myself but they should have a better approach. I have a bit of anxiety about going back but I've already paid them $400+ dollars (seems ridiculous reflecting now.). I also planned to bring my mom who is older and paid extra for guest services (sales pitch).I'll report back after a few sessions I guess. Really? This is the sauna? I wouldn't let my dog sleep in here. Place always has an odor of must. Would give a zero star if possible. Management should be absolutely ashamed of themselves! Stay away at all costs or take anti bacterial medication so you don't get sick. There's always an undercover car that trolls the lot because of unsavory activity happening there at night. read more

The aerobics microphone has been non-functional for about a month now. How is the instructor supposed to motivate us and instruct us when they have to shout? Now that fall is approaching, the classes are getting more crowded which makes it more dangerous if we can't hear the instructor and are bumping into one another. I wish management would invest in the maintenance and upkeep of this gym as much as its members want to invest in their health. There is plenty of competition nearby. Customer service and satisfaction is the way to keep members longterm. read more

I will never go to another LA Fitness. In light of the pandemic, this location is untrustworthy, unclean, and slimy. Refused to adapt to the changing Covid reality. LA Fitness local management refused to let me end my personal contract early. In addition, they were unwilling to work with me on the situation. Local management would roomies to return my call and never did. Local management told me in three occasions over the span of 6 months that my contract was canceled and it was a lie. They manipulated the situation to take money out of account after I expressly communicated I needed early termination, despite my willingness to buyout the contract. **COLIN- VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND FUN WHEN IT COMES TO PERSONAL TRAINER** I recently signed up to begin my fitness routine here at LA Fitness at the new Lenox location. The gym is clean and has all the equipment and amenities anybody needs for fitness. A part of the subscription came along with a free session with a personal trainer. I signed up with Colin for a session to see what it was all about. He initially broke down fitness to 3 simple things and set my fitness goals with me. He knew exactly what he was talking about and made fitness/exercising seem like a fool proof system. We then hit the weights and started exercising! It was FUN and EXCITING! It definitely brought back memories from when I was a triathlete back in the day. I definitely recommend this gym and Colin as a trainer! read more

It's very nice inside and kept clean. I go in the evenings after 9 and the crowd in before me has no clue how to put anything back/re rack weights. But I would t either when you see employees or one in particular that works out and doesn't bother to rerack his weights/bars. It has a nice lap pool and a hot tub as well as a sauna. Racist, Racist, Racist!!!! my best friend who's (african american) with me to work out. They treated her like an animal. She went to pay for a day pass. They threw her credit card on the table after accepting the payment. They greeted me with smiles and frowned upon her as she was finishing the process of the one day pass. The vibe they gave her was totally unacceptable! I'm caucasian and was treated with much more respect than she was. I joined here last fall and have never regretted it. I am able to really only review the pool as that is the only facility I use. Here are the positives: -temperatures are good to a tiny bit chilly but never cold or hot -water aerobic classes are 6 mornings a week -water aerobic instructors are all really good at their job -pool is clean and well maintained -classes are well attended but not too crowded I have enjoyed the day choices I have. I try to always go on Wednesday mornings because I really love the workouts with the Noodles that Tammi provides and the fun ambiance of her classes. There are ample lockable lockers, great benches, clean washrooms and great showers with wonderful water pressure and temperature. Bring your own towel and lock and dive in! read more

Place is close to my house so I use it. If management is reading this, please put more consideration into cleaning this place a bit more. As you work out by the weight rack, it has a smell on the ground and weights. This place needs also to pump up the AC. Coming from a lifetime gym membership I see why they are the leaders. My wife and I were members for about 1 year. Never again. -We were sold a membership with a $200 initiation fee only to find a $0 initiation fee on the internet later the same day. We were told it's a benefit. Overtime, we would save $. NO savings occurred. This DOES NOT benefit anyone who does not hold a membership for multiple years. -This whole facility is unhygienic. There is definitely NO cleaning schedule and accountability with employees. We found restrooms with the same hair ball and empty toilet paper for multiple days. -On a regular basis, you can expect the temperature of the hot tub water to be a lot lower than it should be. The water level gets so low, the jets squirt water all over the place. In addition, the towel hooks have been broken for almost a year. Members have to set their towels on the floor. -When asked if there were tampons available for the female members, the response from the store manager was "the other locations don't have them." He also did not follow up with my wife at all regarding this concern. -We wrote an email to the store, hoping to resolve our concerns. No one followed up. read more

Stuck working out here for a year. Got conned into purchasing a 1 year contract because "I'd save money"! - sales person. I like to save money and was feeling motivated to get into shape. Sadly. I only was able to go a couple times due to my job downtown and having a one year old. So when I called to cancel I was disappointed to find out YEAR LONG CONTRACTS ARE NONREFUNDABLE. Called corporate and there was no budging. This gym chain is the shadiest of all shade. Also no towels, no lotion, no razers, no hair dryers and no locks. Guess I am used to working out in the city with more amenities. Typical slimey sales people. read more

So I decided to join LA again. At least it's not Tinley! Brand new and not broken in yet. I sat down with a 20 something salesman and asked if I could get the same deal they keep emailing me about. I was told yes. Umm. Then I needed a number for the internet price. As I was looking for the email. His initial price kept coming down. Like I was lying or something. I finally found it and I showed it to him. He told me that without a number he was going to get in trouble and started acting like I was talking up way to much of his time. He ran through the numbers and kept flipping the screen and told me to run my credit card and sign the bottom. I made him go back and show me the payments. He told me, see. I'm not trying to rip you off! Wow! Glad you made that clear. The club is new and there is not much to say about it. Lots of elbow room until the word gets out. read more

I went into this la fitness and was greeted by a friendly face, they sent me over to the trainer director , who's name is jeff. This guy knows what he's talking about. I won't tell u his past, that's for him to tell. What I can say, is this is the guy you want on your side when it comes to fitness. He believes in me o think more than I do. Wow! This place is a scam. We have been lied to, scammed and cheated out a lot of money. The salesperson, Abby, told us that it was 36.99 per month with no cancellation fee or annual fee. That our next payment will be due in Jan 2022. We signed, based on what she told us, which was to pay for November and December of 2021, for $73.98. #36.99 for the 2 months. We are seniors on SS and cannot afford what they have done to us. They charged us in December another $36.99 AND an annual fee of $49. We have gone for 1 month and a week and have now paid $160. We called and wrote LAFINESS.COM but no one gives a crap there. LIERS, CHEATS AND SCAMMERS, BE AWARE!! The also lied about the contact names. Told us it was for emergency purposes ONLY. Nope, my dtr was called and harassed on a daily basis from Abby. We asked twice for them to stop, and her reply was "go ahead and call my manager". She continued to harass my dtr everyday.!! I want to make special comments on Marc G and Jessica who are my specialty personal trainers at LA fitness. It has been 11 months since I started a personal work out training. My motivation to start muscle reinforcement program was to overcome middle age symptoms like knee, elbow and back pains. Thanks to Marc G and Jessica's instructions I don't feel much pain any more because my muscle power has been reinforced and my body fat was significantly reduced. They have been instructing me to the extent that I can do my own workout with good posture. On top of that they are very considerate. If I could give no stars I would. I'm pretty sure this LA Fitness isn't special, I'm pretty sure they all suck which is really sad but I would never want to come here again. I go in to sign up for a membership, I planned on getting training sessions but I also wanted to think about it, I was talked into doing it and the GM was cool and gave me a couple free sessions, but then on the first day I had scheduled to train my trainer has me wait for 20+ minutes.... I scheduled the session ?! He nonchalantly comes up and asks if I'm ready and I'm just wondering if he knows what time it is. I end up moving out of state a week after I signed up with the membership which they said would be fine because there are gyms all over but when I try to transfer my home gym they're telling me I can't and I couldn't even work out because I was just paying for that gym.... So, the whole time I was trying to figure out how to fix my account so I could work out - (the whole reason I got the membership) I couldn't, and I had been paying for a membership I couldn't use plus training for months, then when I call my "home gym" about it I asked to talk to a manager right away and the front desk person/ card scanner guy tells me they're not going to be able to do anything about it and that management will say the same thing he is saying. So, they pretty much screwed me out of at least a couple thousand dollars. Not very happy. read more

Been coming to this gym since it opened. There are pros and cons to this gym just like any... CONS---- The high school is down the street so an abundance of annoying teenagers from 3pm-7pm, Most of the Zumna instructors are awful for day or evening classes, staff is ever changing,the trainers /sales people are extremely pushy and walk around like they are hot shit. Whatever you do, do not sign up for personal training here!!! You will be locked into a year contract and you can't get out of it. Even if there are no trainers to train you!! The trainers come and go without warning! I had 6 different trainers and one even quit 10 minutes before my session. I am calling the BBB. The only reason I go here anymore is because it's so close to my house and has a variety of equipment. The gym is always extremely dirty and they don't offer wipes to clean it yourself. The temperature is not ideal when it gets above 70 outside - it is almost too hot to work out most days in the summer, and there are no fans. I get absolutely no cell service and the WiFi doesn't work. The new GM, Anthony, wouldn't honor a guest pass for our friend when he came in with FOUR paying members (he would likely have joined if he were treated with respect). My most recent complaint is that the "director of fitness" decided to provide unsolicited advice by interrupting my workout this evening, and then continued being extremely rude when I told him I was a trainer and wasn't looking for assistance. This is the second negative experience I've had with their training department, I'm sure because I'm a female and they think they can interrupt my lift and sell me a training package. Highly considering canceling - convenience is the only thing stopping me. read more

The LA Fitness in New Lenox has more than met our expectations in a gym. The staff is very friendly and the gym is always clean. It is nice to be greeted with a friendly face when we come to the gym. We are very pleased with the training staff who have been key to helping us with our fitness goals. Training Manager, Jake Brooks, has done a great job matching us up with Personal Trainer, Amy Wigs who we are happy to be working with. I enjoy that there is a large variety of group classes to attend at all fitness levels. I would highly recommend this gym and their personal training services. read more
