This place is a dumpster fire. I'm tempted to check the staff for a pulse. The young lady at the front desk with the glasses is semi conscious as far as I can tell. She can manage a smile, but was confused where the restrooms were.... She's not THAT new so one has to wonder if she's ever walked around the gym she works at. I will say that this location is reasonably clean. That said the dumbbell rack is always in a state of disarray. Dumbbells and barbells are left all over the gym. Massive trip hazard and a lawsuit waiting to happen. No towel service at all. Comparing this location to Newbury Park it's hard to tell these locations are run. Y the same company. I've tried the Oxnard location a number of times and it fails every time. I was so disgusted this time I ended my workout and walked out before I was done. I just couldn't focus on my training as I couldn't locate the proper equipment and had to make sure I didn't trip over anything in any walkable area. New management is desperately needed at this location. read more

The front desk staff is pleasant and helpful. Sales staff (Chris) was kind. I agreed to a "Free Assessment" with my new membership and subsequently add 3 months with a trainer. The challenges came after the Personal Training sessions were complete. I told my trainer I was not going to extend or add more months to the CONTRACTED 3 months that I paid for. However, I was auto-billed for the next 2 months. I called to recoup my over payment. I had sent a cancellation to the email address and received a notice of cancellation but no recourse to recoup the nearly $600 I over paid. The gym is fine, clean, interesting playlists (lol) the staff are excellent but business practices are shady. read more

Jennifer the "Manager" needs to learn customer service! She is rude and treats people like they don't matter.

5 stars for Ale the Zumba instructor and Theodosia the Body Works and Circuit instructor. The new cleaning lady is doing a great job the place is spotless. They added more classes too which is more convenient. Lots of equipment and a nice pool add to the amenities. Memberships are very affordable and there is ample parking but DON,T park under the lamps or the seagulls will get you! read more

Gym has lots of all the equipment you'll need, however, some of it is in need of repair, like torn seats. Staff is friendly. Appears clean enough. Better to workout than not at all. read more

The manager is not present or interactive with guests and the showers have mildew and mold. Broken yoga mats and algae around the pool at times. Instructors make the best with what they have and are extremely friendly and polite and professional. Corporate needs to look into the gym for an internal and external audit. read more

I recently obtained a home in the city which is very near to this gym. It was the main reason I signed up but only kept my membership for about 5 months before I cancelled. The equipment is good but lots of teenagers especially during peak hours Mon-Fri. They tend to gather around machines for very long time to small talk & also in the PT Training area when not in use. I wish they implemented a wipe the equipment down policy & set up more cleaning stations. The staff Steve & Courtney are fantastic! One last thing, beware of some weird people that go there. Everything went well. The Oxnard LAFitness is spotless, the staff are welcoming, the facilities are beyond expectation, and our introductory training session had me smiling throughout. Our trainer, Eduardo, was so very helpful and absolutely professional; open to our limitations and helping us to understand how he could help but also what we could do to become more healthy. I've been with this gym since it was Esporta. The gym is a good size with a nice pool, basketball courts, and Peloton room. Great free weights and machines that are in top shape and maintenance. There is a cleaning crew constantly going around. I think the complaints I see in these reviews are a comment on how a few people litter, and toss trash. They had a poor upbringing. It is not issue with the staff, it's the small percentage of 'dirty' clients. It is a common factor in all public places in Oxnard/Port Hueneme. I especially appreciate the free membership through my health insurance and Cris the manager was very attentive in helping me set it up. Since my One Pass allows me to go to any gym in Oxnard for free, I am one of the few reviewers who could actually visit them all and make a comparison. read more

I was a member here for a year because it was so close to my home. I had a couple issues with this place. First of all, they would always open late in the mornings. It opens at 5am but we would be waiting at least 10-15min for them to open. Secondly, the cleanliness of the store overall is disgusting. The mens showers are never cleaned and there is always trash everywhere. I've seen bums lingering in the locker rooms taking showers in there. I would mention to the front staff about all these issues and they would just ignore me. I finally cancelled my membership last week because they would do nothing about cleaning the lockers. They have more associates signing people up than there is cleaning staff its ridiculous. I will not be returning. (See photos) read more

I have been a member here since it was LA Fitness back in 2018... I had no issues before and now about a month ago I am having an issue with this new staff they are hiring and I know it's not just me because I see the faces of others full of disappointment when it is 10minutes before closing the two guys go around telling people to do their last set ! It is BS. I pay for my membership just like many others and never in these years has any staff member tried to rush us out 10minutes before the gym closes. The gym closes at 10 not 9:50 for the workers to start kicking us out. In specifics it's always two guys who are there from closing Monday-Thursday! Not only are they getting on my nerves but they get on others nerves as they always remind the workers the gym closes at 10 not 9:50. If this doesn't get resolved I see many members choosing to go to a new gym. read more

I joined LA Fitness when they built this facility. It is close to my house and nice, clean, and modern with nice equipment. The main reason I joined however was that they would have a pool, I like to swim laps. However, over the last 6 months the pool heater has either been broken, or when it finally was "repaired", they don't set it warm enough to use. So I, like a number of others I know from swimming here drive up to the Ventura LA Fitness. The biggest complaint is that they don't seem to care, or even accept the recommendations to fix it! It can be fixed in 10 minutes, and the pool would be at the proper temperature in 48 hours. They just won't do it. I hope they will set the heater on the pool so it is useable. I check it every couple of weeks, and still at 76 degrees. The Department of health says it should be between 79-83. read more

I've been a member ever since its grand opening and so far I'm happy with this gym. There is always staff cleaning the gym no matter what time of day it is even on the weekends. They have a pool, a basketball court, a fitness room, and a cycling room as well. You get your moneys worth that's for sure! you really can't complain except when you had a killer workout & your sore the next day. My only complaint is that the area surrounding it is a dead zone for cell phone data and service. but that is fixed, when you walk inside the gym and connect to their Wi-Fi network. Don't expect the gym staff to clean every inch of equipment and mats however, don't put all the blame on them you have to put your part as well and clean up after yourself after all you're an adult not a kid! read more

I was visiting a friend in Oxnard and got a free pass to use for about a week. The gym was clean and seemed in order. The Zumba classes were well-attended. The people were cool and polite. Definitely liked how many Spanish-speakers there were. The weekday mornings were busy, but not crowded. Like most gyms, there are never enough 10lb, 12.5 lb or 15lb free weights available. But it wasn't a long wait. The front desk staff were very professional and friendly. Would definitely go back again. read more

Day 1 and never took a step inside before or got a recommendation from anyone. It started out as shopping around on the internet for pricing and location in my area. Started with 24 Hour Fitness, ridiculous prices $32 and above monthly! Other gyms were under or above that rate. I really wanted to go back to 24 hour fitness and it wasn't even an all sport and didn't even have a pool! Long story short, well worth paying the one time fee of $99 to get $9.99 a month for a single gym because it is even closer than 24 hour. These were the Pros when comparing to 24 hour on Victoria: 1. Pool 2. Every cardio machine has a tv 3. Basketball courts 4. Way BETTER equipment! Soooo if you want to go to 24 Hour Fitness for less options, higher price and a view of the Harbor, have at it. They will not cancel your membership despite multiple requests. They will continue billing you until you have to take manners into your own hands and cancel your credit card to prevent them having continued access. It's really too bad that their management style is so horrible as the gym itself could be a decent place to workout if they could pull it together in the area of business management. Everyone is nice on the phone and promises to follow through but no one does. I finally had to get help from corporate; they ultimately followed through but I paid at least $200 more than I should have as I stopped going and cancelled months before they stopped charging me. I will never go to this gym again and would encourage everyone to avoid it. The only way I'd trust them is if you could pay cash monthly. Do NOT let them have access to your credit or debit accounts. read more

Packed like sardines. Poor customer service. Kids sit on equipment for an hour and don't move, talk on cell phones, etc. not a relaxing or focused gym session at all. Very different from other LA Fitness experiences. They need a much much larger location for the amount of people they pack in at once. Good equipment but we have to wait a half hour per spot. I have been going to this gym for a while now a love it! The staff is very professional and make the gym welcoming. The staff is very diverse and there is someone for everyone to learn from. I have never once been made to feel unwelcome here by almost all of the staff members. There have been a few instances with an older lady who works there being very standoffish and rude, but she is the only employee that has ever made me feel uncomfortable in any way. Even when going to the gym as a beginner, the staff was able to help me gain confidence. When you join the gym, you get a free training session. I had my training session with Kaila and she made my confidence in the gym skyrocket! I have never been nervous since after meeting with her. The only reason I have not rated this gym with 5 stars is that it can be very crowded, however that shows a successful gym and just a pet peeve of mine. read more

Plenty of parking which is really rare for a gym these days. Brand new faciltiy with state of the art machines and equipment. There are 2 to 4 of everything. They need more TVs. They also need to clean the facility throughout the day. My workouts are much better because i never have to wait for equipment. I am doing cardio now. I am keeping my 24 Hour Fitness membership because of the hours of operation at LA Fitness. read more

The staff is all around amazing and well organized, I've been to a few gyms and school gyms since I've been athletics my whole life but this one particular felt like the reason I loved it was the staff. The person who I really felt who helped me was Josiah, I believe he's the main supervisor for training but he gave me such an educational experience for my fitness & rehab journey for my shoulder as I'm trying to build strength. The presentation was wonderful and I feel like he just really wanted to help. Hope to see him and the rest of the staff every other time I come in. read more

READ THIS HORROR STORY. During the pandemic I made it very clear that I would like to cancel my membership and used the email cancellation ( as suggested by the worker I spoke with) however after the membership cancellation I have been charged for 4 MONTHS of service for a gym that I do not go to and canceled my membership for 3 months ago ! Every month I call I get the same story, that they are not able to do anything, my membership is canceled with Corp. not with them, that my card is not being charged, even though they are looking with me at my bank statements right now. The staff of this place does not listen the manager does not listen and I do not recommend anybody spend money at this location because they will do nothing but rob you and the manager is nothing but a fish out of water who can do nothing for and cares to keep it that way . Good gym with good instructors, but it's DIRTY! Need to clean the water bottles and towels and hair and dirt from everything. I love going, but i get grossed out sometimes. Yeah this gym has nice equipment but, the populous does not take care of the equipment nor do the employees. I can only imagine how much bacteria is on this equipment. The gym DOES NOT have any wipes!!!! The "wipes" they do have are towels that you soak in water dispensing out of a hand sanitizer unit! GROSSSSS. I recommend bringing your own Clorox wipes. 2nd it's very crowded After 430pm. Good luck. The staff is decently nice except when you try to use the equiptment in the personal training area.... they'll kick you out... i gave this gym 2 stars because of they're epuiptment they do offer and it's not broken. The pool is a good time. Overall i recommend 24 hour fitness down the street. read more
