Worked out here for a decent while. Staff were fine, personal trainers are top notch and really care. I only ever use the weights, never tried out any of the other amenities nor used the locker rooms or bathrooms. Boundless options for equipment, never really too busy (when I moved to the U of A rec center I was shocked to learn it was normal for people to wait in lines for equipment!). One star off because cancelling my membership was like fitting a camel into the eye of a needle. read more

They dont sterilize the dumbbells or floors in the free weight Ive brought up to their superiors at the front desk, but the janitors never clean up the dumbell area, under the seats, you can see endless gross dust. They blame the rubber mats and tell me they just blow under the rack. It smells like rotting flesh, they refuse to do anything about it. Ive never complained on this app ever, but it's disgusting how much the employees dont care about their gym's hygiene. The young janitor is great, but thats not his cleaning area according to management, their night janitor is not being properly informed. Its been 2 months now before I decided to post this as its only gotten worse. You can see so much dust and years of filth on lat pull down machines near the seating, barbell seat areas, mats aren't cleaned near the squat racks. Management just smiles and nods their heads and just focuses on getting the monthly schedule done each month. read more

I've never been to a LA Fitness before until the past 2 weeks. I have to say as someone that actively goes to Chuze fitness, I never realized just how nice and how much variety you have here at this location. First Impressions: This gym is MASSIVE. I cannot understate this enough. There is so much equipment here its literally heaven lol. I tend to go during the off-peak hours, and in two weeks that I've been coming to this location I've never had to wait for something I needed to use or if I did it was for a brief few minutes :). The sheer amount of things inside this massive complex is awesome. Staff: Friendly, no issues that I've encountered. I can appreciate they greet you. Cleanliness: For this being such a massive facility, it's pretty spotless from what I can see and that's quite impressive. Kudos! Value: $40-$50 is quite a lot for most, so if you're someone that rarely goes or goes a few times a month, I'd probably look into Chuze/Planet for value as you really would want to be here as often as you can get to get your moneys worth. That being said, I think for the price and what you get and how much access you have, its not bad at all. I wish they did have hydro massages to be honest. Recommendations: LA Fitness is a bit on the expensive side, so if you are wanting value from a casual perspective this gym (in my opinion would not be a good choice). That being said, if you are someone that is active or wants to be active and decide to go regularly, this is a fantastic option. This location in particular is a mecca for all things VARIETY in terms of equipment. read more

started to go to this gym about 4 months ago, and since day one i have been encountering this older man staring at me, no matter what i was wearing or what exercise i was doing, he would stare at me and smile weirdly at me. The only reason i would look at him was because i felt the stare towards me. Fast forward to recently and nothing has changed.. my boyfriend decided to confront him(we share a membership) outside of the gym, right after closing time. My boyfriend respectfully let him know that i was feeling uncomfortable with the way he was looking at me, the first thing he replied with was " well is she from a different country??" my boyfriend was very surprised by this reply, and he replied to him saying that had nothing to do with the situation and that it was a disrespectful comment to make. He then proceeded to comment on what i wear to the gym, saying "oh she's just a chick in the gym, she needs to watch what she wears" to which he repeated "yea she seems to have a staring problem, is she from a different country?" after all of that, he threatened my boyfriend to never get close to his car again or he would get hurt, so we decided that it was best to bring it up to the LA fitness crew(@ first ave) and then the manager. They wanted us to wait until he checked in to the gym so that they could get his name and phone (which they already have in their system). Fast forward a week they finally reached out to him and after the manger called my boyfriend and told him that they spoke with the man about the incident and the man claimed that he was feeling uncomfortable with me and that they (the man and his 2 sons) recorded a video where he was "coaching" his kids to be nice and smile at me because I made the feel uncomfortable because "I stare at them" (I don't even know how they look and whenever I stared was because he stared at me first). This whole situation is just so disappointing because the first time we spoke to the manager she said that she was going to talk to him and let him know that if he kept making me feel uncomfortable she was going to revoke his membership and now she's defending him and as a woman this is even more sad since she told me that this has also happened to her before and her lack of empathy is just so disappointing, especially as a manger of a gym, you should know how to properly handle these situations without siding with one side that is using some evidence that sounds hard to believe considering how you made someone feel uncomfortable for over 4 months. There should be no need for us to be going through this because we are paying for the membership, and i was not looking for this man to get banned, but i simply wanted the LA fitness team to tell him that we cannot have someone make others uncomfortable by staring and weirdly smiling at others, and if it keeps happening that his membership is at risk of being revoked. Overall this situation has been disappointing, and i wish it would have been addressed more directly to this person. I am unsure if i want to continue my membership here at this gym, it is unfortunate that to this day and age this still happens to many women in the fitness community. read more

This place is located at the NE corner of 1st Ave and Limberlost Dr. South of Wetmore which is how you get to I-10. I went on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't crowded at all. They have 3 squat racks in the free weights area (see photo) and another one with 2 half racks between the basketball courts and bathrooms. They also have a good green area (see photo). The free weight area has 4 benches and 2 inclines (see photo). And at presumably a busy time it was not busy. Easy to get a good workout in. There is another LA Fitness more South and East but didn't make it there. This one was a good option. read more

The staff does not police people sitting on machines while texting or even having phone calls or watching movies. This is profoundly obnoxiously disrespectful to the other clients who do not have all day to watch someone sitting on the machine and not exercising. read more

I see why this LAF has such a marginal rating. From what I could tell, friendly staff, equipment in good working order, large floor space, and the very "traditional" Flagship layout. Sauna was blazing probably the best sauna I've been in in an LAF! I came here to swim though and that's where it lost major stars. The water is clean, and probably tests perfectly, but the pool, spa, and deck are DIRTY, FILTHY, TAINTED, AND UNCLEAN. RECOMMEND shutting the pool deck down a few times a year for a week to deep clean both manually and chemically. The first time would probably be a month, but after that would be all good! read more

Unacceptable customer service, came here for over a year now, this is not my primary gym so I don't come super often. After visiting today, I was told my membership was somehow RESTRICTED from other locations. Offered no help for remedying the situation other than a $10/month upgrade!! You guys are greedy scumbags who lack any sense of customer service, train your employees better if they aren't going to notice a "restricted account" coming in for months and months. read more

I work out regularly at the Tucson location at Shannon and Ina. I love the facility. However, they have a new manage, Miranda. She won't make eye contact. She walks around the gym in stilettos. The pool and sauna have issues. My biggest complaint is she walked into the men's shower area while I and another gentleman were showering (separately) to berate a good, hardworking employee and was cleaning the showers, something about toilet paper in the women's bathroom. It was a conversation that should have taken place in private, let alone in the men's shower!!! I contacted LA Fitness, but they have not responded. Not happy' read more

Probably one of the filthiest unclean LA Fitness in Tucson is on First Ave. Occasionally see cleaners throwing away trash but rarely mopping or attending to the locker rooms. I would not dare walk on any of the tile with bare feet. read more

I went to do laps. The water aerobics was about to start. 2 lap lanes were open. The instructor informed me I could not do laps because one of her students wa "uncomfortable ". So a paying member can not do laps because of a person with physiatrist issues??? This is rediculous. Get that person mental help before denying a paying member to do laps. read more

Visiting from California, the gym here is very spacious. There's plenty of machines as well as bench press/ squat racks so I don't find myself waiting for anything to open up. The staff seems friendly and overall it's decently clean. Will definitely be back here whenever I'm in Tucson read more

I joined in May of 2025 and to date everything has been going wonderfully. However today I had perhaps one of the most unprofessional interactions I've had wire someone in a customer service position. Two days ago I arrived to a sign indicating the pool was closed. When I inquired about it reopening I was told it wasn't technically closed and we could swim at our own risk which I did. This morning I called a little before 9 am and spoke to Miranda D and asked if the pool was open and if any classes were going on. She told me there was an aqua fit class at 9 but after that it would be open for lap swimming. I arrived around 10:45 and a man was in the pool swimming laps. Right after I got in she entered the pool area and asked me to get out. I asked why and she claimed she didn't like the look of the pool. I told her about the interaction two days ago and asked if we could swim at our own risk or if I had to get out. She replied "Well I'm not going to drag you out." At that point I replied "Okay I'll respect that." And I got out of the pool. I proceeded to walk out a door that had been propped for the past 3 days with a fan that people have been going in and out of. She waited until I got into the doorway and then yelled across the pool "You can't go out that door" at that point I was already out and on the other side. She proceeded to chase after me screaming "What is your name. I will revoke your membership right now. What is your name." I was stunned. I went to the desk to speak to a manager who I knew and I expressed concern that she was confrontational, aggressive and threatening. She denied that yelling at me saying she would revoke my membership was a threat. At no point did I argue with her, raise my voice or otherwise engage with her in a way that could be considered disrespectful. It was such a benign situation that I was truly stunned at the unprofessionalism displayed. I asked for her supervisors name and she provided Alex Luna. She contacted him in my presence to let him know I would reach out. I've attempted to do so and so far I've received no response. I then reached out to James Tyree and have not received a call back either. I am concerned that this level of unprofessionalism was exhibited. And even when attempting to talk to her she could have apologized at that point for her reaction but instead dug her heels in. I think the way she engaged was entirely inappropriate and demonstrates a lack of professionalism and maturity that is required for the position she is fulfilling. If that is how she engaged with customers in a customer service position it is alarming. No one deserves to be yelled at and treated with the level of disrespect I was subjected to when i ultimately willingly complied with exiting the pool through an open door that multiple people had gone in and out of. read more

Joined the Tucson location specifically for these of racquetball courts. Told not many people use them so reserving a court should be no problem. Now they tell us because we joined though the silver sneakers program we can only use them if there's an open court. Otherwise we get bumped if other members want to reserve a court. Not what we were told when we signed on. The Medicare members aren't allowed to reserve courts. Age discrimination in it's purist for. This cannot be tolerated. read more

For the past 3 months, the front desk staff has treated me like a criminal. They're distracted when I check in. They've been following me around, yelling, "Stop." It's been very embarrassing. The first time, I received an apology from the person in the office. Yesterday afternoon, it happened again. Someone cut me off in the hallway. They wouldn't let me continue. Lots of variety for cardio and not so crowded in the machines area. However, in the weight room it's a whole different story. Lots of University kids dominate the place and don't really share. Still I like the vibe and the two stories is cool. If you have trouble with the stairs, no worries. They have some cardio downstairs too. You can also hire a trainer for extra OR take a plunge in the Jr. Olympic pool. Oh, and they have a dry sauna. There's plenty of classes offered too. Just download their app for the schedule. My favorite thing is though is the Rockin' Hoist machines. They have 4 at Ina and none in the Oro Valley or Marana facilitates. So this one -- well -- rocks! My only issue is that it is a bit dirty in the dressing room/restroom area. Just hasn't met much of a standard. read more

It's borderline comical how traveling across the country I've noticed most LA Fitness locations are 3 stars across the board. They're good facilities & tend to have everything you need to get a good workout in. This location was a 1/4 mile from my dad's place, so I would do a daily sauna session after freezing my butt off in my old man's unheated pool this winter! It was great! The sauna was a blistering 180F & after 20 minutes in a cold pool (range from 35F to 55F) I'd take up to 15 minutes to even break a sweat! After that it was off to play some basketball or get a lift in, I usually didn't have to wait long for a machine, but sometimes you'd have people using the deadlift platform or squat racks for nonsense like hip thrusters. I get it ladies, you want to get that juicy booty filled out, butt these are meant for moving heavy weights. If you're doing hip thrusters with less than 100lbs at one of those spots, that's just rude. Heck, I was rack pulling 315 & the guy next to me was practically doing bent over rows with it! What I'm saying is, know what equipment is meant to be used for before monopolizing a space for 15 minutes. Made some friends with the hoopers, but they're weekend early birds, I'm not trying to run 5x5 at 8am Saturday mornings haha good guys though, didn't have a single ego tripper or egregious foul caller...some ball hogs who jacked up shots every time they touched it, but hey, it could've been MUCH worse. I told them they were missing an 80lb straight bar barbell & one of the staff told me he would do an inventory that week & see what else they were missing so they could place a replacement order. I could've sworn I was told that as long as I canceled my membership within the first 2 months they'd refund my annual membership fee, but when I canceled they told me it had to be within 2 weeks. I specifically remembered discussing it with the staff member when signing up because I didn't want to pay $75 a month for 2 months of membership, but it's whatever, maybe my mind was fixated on 2 months & he said 2 week. All in all, good experience, I'd probably sign up again if I was in the area for another extended visit. read more

I would give a minus review if I could. I was using the pool and whirlpool at the Oro Valley location but stopped due to the lack of maintenance. The whirlpool is disgusting. There is black scum around the top and scum floating on the water. And there is dirt on the bottom. Pool water always has cloudy, dirty water. I have told the operations managers on several occasions, but they just passed the buck to the pool company. read more

I'm a member of this gym but I'm not pleased with several things. 1. The cleanliness of the showers and sauna. It's that bad that I never use the facilities and drive straight home after my workout. 2. The friendliness and attentiveness of the ladies at the front desk. They seem aloof, absorbed in their own conversations, and when assistance is needed they never seem to make it a priority. 3. Squat Racks -- this gym needs more of them. Depending on which time of the day you come, you could be waiting 10-15 minutes to get your workout started. The positives are the hours of operation, the availibility of raquetball courts, and you can generally use the personal training area without any grief from the management. read more

LAFitness is in need of good customer service oriented management. My husband paid for training sessions there, choosing a plan for 6 month period, $246. Near the end of 6 month period, my husband went to manager to cancel future sessions. The manager never cancelled the contract. When my husband got the charge of $246 for a new contract, he went to manager to straighten up mix up, the manager said not his problem and he wouldn't even discuss it! My husband said he'd have to take it up with his credit card and manager just said go ahead. I'm in customer service and have managed large retail stores. This kind of customer service will drive business away. I was upset the manager had such an unfriendly and unhelpful attitude. read more

Pros: has a diverse selection of equipment, has a sauna, has like a billion treadmills and other cardio machines, relatively convenient location if you live downtown. The guy I talked to was very polite and helpful. Cons: - It's hideous and dated. It's very dated (90s vibes inspirational posters as wallpaper), it needs a serious remodel. - There are virtually no windows inside so it feels claustrophobic. - There are only three squat racks, so not the best if you're very serious about strength/body building. - The weight room in particular needs windows!! If nothing else why are there no windows?? - These posters are atrocious. I feel like this place was amazing in 1999 but it desperately needs a makeover now, especially given the "luxury" vibes it attempts to admit. Cut back on the cardio machines and spread out the weights a little more. Buy like 10 more squat racks and sell some of your treadmills. read more

My best friend goes to UA and loves LA fitness. She raves to me about the kindness of the staff and the clean facility, but, when I came to visit her I was beyond disgusted and appalled by the lady at the desk. She had bright green hair and treated me and my friend as if we were not people. We felt so awful for the boy working next to her. She immediately interrupted him when we walked in and poured her misery onto everyone around her. I've been working out at this gym for a few months now. It is A-Ok. It's close to my home and convenient, price was right for my budget. Plenty of cardio machines to go around. No community feel, very corporate, but it is what it is, a giant fitness chain. The locker room area has always been clean in my experience, there is a sauna. Nothing feels special about this gym. Sometimes I'm greeted at the door, sometimes not. I usually work out between 5:30am and 6:30am. There are always plenty of machines. I've gone around 6pm on a weekday, busier, but still plenty of machines. I've also gone on an afternoon on a Sunday and still plenty of machines. I haven't started using their weights, those seem to be busy, but not packed. I can't really attest to how easy and quick it would be to get a full set of weights in. I think that is probably much easier early mornings. They offer free classes with your membership, I haven't gone to any, but the spinning and Zumba classes I've walked by seem to have plenty of space for new people to join. I'll update review if I start going. I've never been a member of a HUGE gym like this, so I don't have a lot to compare to. If a better option opens up for me at the right price point I wouldn't hesitate to cancel my membership here. Location is important for my work and life schedule, so for now LA Fitness wins. (Prestige Fitness is just down the right, but at a lot higher price point) read more
