Poblano Mole in the background and Cancun in the foreground. Both really good!

My wife and I were on a walk and spontaneously decided to pop in for some appetizers here. We ended up ordering entrées and a couple of nonalcoholic beers. Both of our dishes were really good... The veggies were fresh, the guacamole was tasty, the chicken was tender and much better than expected. And, both dishes had lovely sauce and flavors. The Mole was particularly good. Alejandro, our server, was so nice and professional. Anyway, we were pleasantly surprised all around and will certainly be back before we leave the island. Muchas Gracias.

Chimichangas (chicken) don't care how it looks. It tasted fantastic!

The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The food was absolutely delicious. A rare jewel on the outer banks.

My kids liked the chicken nuggets and my party enjoyed their food. We will definitely come back.

My kids liked the chicken nuggets and my friends enjoyed their food. Definitely somewhere we will visit again.

Going into this place, I wasn't really feeling mexican/tex-mex food. The food ended up being really good though and I'm glad we stopped. I got the tacos al pastor (without pineapple) which comes with a side of refried beans. The tacos came out steaming and fresh. Service was good and our food came out much faster than I was expecting which is always a bonus. I will definitely visit again!

I am surprised by the negative reviews. Whenever I am in the Outer Banks, I always get takeout from here multiple times and almost always get the nachos fajitas. There were a few times when the portion size could have been larger, or the peppers needed to be cooked a little more, but those instances were few and far between. I have also had the nachos supreme (sometimes the shredded chicken is a little salty), fried chicken chimichangas, chicken quesadillas and ACP to name a few. They were all decent but the nachos fajitas are always delicious.

Not so good. But acceptable. It is funny that around here there's no good fish restaurant.

The service was average and so was the food. It's a good spot on vacation, but nothing out of the ordinary.

Typical small town Tex Mex American. The salsa has a really nice kick. Staff is friendly, food comes out fast and hot.

Later on in the week, we made fajitas at home and we ordered 2 boxes of rice to go (along with the cheese dip and guacamole).

Getting them and have to then sit and drink them at the end when we wanted to leave was awkward. * Over all the timing of everything was really off. * The main food was very good! The tuna meal and shrimp and grits were fantastic! My brother-in-law and I both had the Mahi (Cobia Korean style?) and his was definitely tastier! If you look at the pictures, mine was the long skinny piece and it was just not a good cut. Kind of tougher and the sauce was very over powering. But his was very good! (We compared bites) * The service started strong but our waitress became hard to come by towards the end. (And they weren't crazy busy, just a normal night) We waited a little too long for her to come back so we could get the check. Would I recommend Rusty's? Yes! I think overall between the atmosphere, the tasty drinks and the main courses were very good! Would I return? Maybe. It didn't blow me away for the overall price but I'm not opposed to it either!

For our entrees, I had the cobia and my wife had the seared tuna. Both were very good and the portion size was very generous. Our waiter was friendly and engaging. The restaurant itself is trying hard to be upscale, but the building is a bit tired and misses that mark. All in all, we had a wonderful meal for a reasonable price. Give it a try.

This year they added an outdoor tiki bar and it has great views of the sound. So, if you come early for your reservation or want to stay for a few cocktails after dinner, this is the perfect place. The main restaurant has both inside seating with AC/heat and seating that is mostly enclosed but is more like outside seating with large windows that are generally open when the weather permits....not a bad seat anywhere you sit! During the summer months they host great acoustic guitar performances that can be enjoyed along with your dinner. This is the place to go to in the Avon-Buxton-Frisco-Hatteras area for fine dining and well worth the reasonable prices. During our visit earlier this week we ordered a kids meal, Elk chops, lamb, and the filet for this in our group and everything was cooked to perfection. The Chef was helpful at making recommendations on how the Elk should be cooked and the recommendation was spot on! If you're in the OBX this summer, put the Inn on your dinner rotation---especially if looking for a more upscale experience.
