My family just spent a week in Avon. The staff of the Froggy Dog went out of their way to make sure we had the best vacation ever. The manager Amy took extra special care of my parents when they came for dinner. She made sure they had a great dining experience. She sat them outside to limit the noise for my mother and then noticed my mom was having issues with the ubiquitous mosquitoes of the outer banks and brought out several fans to combat the issue. Bartender Jeremy provided excellent service as well. Drinks were fantastic. I didnt catch anyone else's names but I did not receive bad service from anyone there. These two employees just really stood out. The karaoke DJ also was cool too! I had never been to the outer banks before and I am not sure when I will ever go back but if I do I hope to run into these two again. read more

This was my nephew's favorite night spot for drinks and karaoke. Unfortunately, he passed away in an automobile accident last December so we have started a tradition of ending our vacations having dinner here. The food was really good and the staff were incredible! Did not have to ask for a refill once. I got jumbo fried shrimp and it was hot and the seafood was fresh. My daughter got the Mac and cheese which is different, the cheese is a Mexican queso. If you like queso, you will LOVE this dish. My wife got grilled chicken and my son got the clam strip dinner. My family and I love The Froggy Dog! This is our second time here and we love it! We came earlier in the day and we got in with no wait! Our server was so wonderful, helpful, and funny. Staff was super friendly. It was my first time here. My husband worked here when he was a younger. We decided to stop here for lunch after visiting his parents. I got a turkey club. I was happy with it. Usually club sandwiches either have too much mayo or the bread messes up the roof of my mouth. But this one was just right. I'll be back to try something else soon. read more

Overall not a bad experience!! There were mixed reviews on here and Google so we took a shot and had lunch here one day. Cute little place right off the side of the road, lots of frog decor (obviously) and the staff were nice and friendly. I had a Caesar salad with fried chicken added and my partner had the jumbo peel apart shrimp and the lunch special (swordfish sandwich). They have gluten free buns. The burger was awesome and thick. The chips look made in house -very fresh. Don't over look it because of the name or image. This is not a bar but more of a classy country restaurant. The seating is normal tables and there's even a wine cellar. We were awarded a wonderful server, Gracie, who answered questions, gave us asked-for recommendations, and her beautiful smile was a delight for weary travelers. Spacious casual restaurant with a wide variety of food options on the menu. I ordered the She Crab Soup which was just okay. The flavor was good but the soup was barely warm and had zero crab in it. For dinner I ordered the mushroom ravioli. This dish was extremely heavy. More appropriate for a northern winter menu than OBX. I Should've asked for some marinara sauce or lemon, anything to cut what was an extremely thick and cheesy sauce. There was a generous portion but after just eating a few, I was done. Just too heavy for me overall. This could be a very good dish with a few changes to the sauce. My husband ordered the surf and turf and said the shrimp was fantastic. He received a huge cut of beef but sadly it was extremely undercooked. He ordered the steak medium rare but it came to the table cold and purple inside. My husband insisted on eating it rather than sending it back to be cooked a bit more. He suffered with stomach issues for the next two days for his valiant effort. Service was excellent and fast but the restaurant was pretty empty due to horrible weather and our late arrival. There was a woman singing and playing the guitar. She seemed uninspired and not happy to be there but it wasn't exactly a packed house so I get that. Prices were high, but in line with other eateries in the area. It's funny because the one restaurant that I was told not to go to, ended up being the best place I came to while in OBX. We came here for lunch, so it was very empty and quiet. Our server Mann (hopefully that's how you spell it) was extremely sweet and very helpful. We started off with Blue Hawaiians and they were so good and refreshing after a day in the hot sun. I ended up getting the popcorn shrimp platter with fries and the cucumber salad. Everything tasted great and you could tell it was all fresh, plus the amount of food you got for the price was awesome! We ordered dinner to go since it was a 5 minute walk from our beach house. My wife had the Caesar salad with sautéed shrimp (which the call taker recommended on how the shrimp was cooked). I called the restaraunt trying to resolve a total 50% over what I ordered: but when the lady who picked up answered, and heard what I had to say, she just put me on speaker then hung up. The froggy dog kept adding more money to an already inflated total, which reflects on my balance. I guess they are used to being able to overcharge drunk tourists, but I will not be one of them! I have submitted a dispute with my credit union, am ready to report them further, and suggest others do the same to avoid future people being scammed. read more
